This is truly an excellent hydrating mask.
The formula has been changed in the past year or so and the Aloe leaf juice is now replaced by a potent dose of Pisum Sativum (Pea) Extract. It is said to be an excellent firming active.
The formula appears lighter after application and leaves a less shiny surface after application than the previous version.
Both provide hydration, although I found the previous one a better hydrator than this one.
The previous version contained Aloe leaf juice at about 5% concentration.
The reformulated version has bellow one percent of this excellent hydrator and anti-inflammatory.
While the structure of the product is the same, or kept almost the same, the actives are less numerous.
The fragrance and the less elegant bluish-grey colour have remained.
La Prairie recommends rinsing the product off after 5 minutes, but I prefer to leave it on more like a night mask.
It is an excellent hydrator after all and it would truly be a waste to rinse it down the drain!

I use this hydrating/firming mask about two or three times a week. I often use it at night after I use the La Prairie Essential Exfoliator. The mask goes on much like a thick cream and is meant to be left on for about five minutes (per the instructions). I often leave it on for fifteen or twenty minutes and have even been told that one could sleep in it. It has the classic La Prairie scent which I love and the texture is quite pleasant; however, I am not certain that the results of the mask justify its crazy price. I do not feel that it does anything as far as firming the skin and although it does hydrate the skin, the results do not seem to last beyond washing your face in the morning. If my skin is dry, I have spent too much time in the sun, or I am stressed, this mask offers me a nice, relaxing pick-me-up. It is lovely to use in the winter or when one’s skin is exposed to dry air.
In summary, the mask offers absolutely nothing in terms of long-lasting benefits but for the soothing and rather enjoyable effects the product provides my skin and senses while it is on, I will probably be repurchasing.

This is a big NO! I am reviewing the hydralift in the ‘blue’ jar. Sticky, non moisturizing mask. The next day the result was all gone. It gave me blackheads on my nose. I went totally crazy. By evening of the next day, i got a pimple and I have pretty dry face this time of the year. This was giving oil, not moisture! I much prefer Helena Rubinstein Hydro Urgency mask. La Prairie, La Prairie, La Prairie, shame on you!

I bought that after I used up a sample 2 months ago. I was not so very happy with a sample but was curious to see wether the mask will work better with continuous use. Well, I think it doesn’t live up to my expectations. It is not a miracle hydrating mask, no way. Seriously overpriced. The texture is sticky and the scent is too strong. It helps with moisturization like many, many other by far less expensive moisturizing masks. I don’t recommend it, save your money.

I personally use this once a week after leaving on the balancing mask for about 10 minutes after which I rinse and apply the Hydralift firming mask for which I leave on for 1 hour after which I rinse and the results are spectacular – Clear,Radiant,Smooth,Incredibly SOFT , and well toned skin. One of my personal biggest staple products

Very good hydrating mask. It ‘plumps’ the face, making it look radiant, fresh, healthy, colour of the complexion is clearer, more uniform… Maybe a bit sticky for my liking (on a heavier side). Smell is also rather unpleasant like in almost all La Prairie products. But you can really see the effects of the mask – rejuvenated, radiant skin. Anyway, I think that it is not worth that high price tag. *****UPDATE (02/15/2007): I’ve been using this mask for more than 8 months now and I can say that it is very, very average. Really not worth that money at all. And the smell is awful. I will not repurchase. Between 2 and 3 – very mediocre.

This is a great mask. It leaves my skin feeling very smooth and hydrated.I am not sure whether i like it better than Erno Lazslo’s hydra therapy yet . Even though Erno’s feels better on the skin the results are just temporary but with this LP mask i can feel my skin is glowy and smooth for a few days . I give it 4 lippies .

Ugh, this mask smells SO STRONG! think “old gramma cheap flower perfume”… i could barely keep it on my face, the fumes were bothering my eyes. i wanted something moisturizing, not some overly perfumed product. very disappointed. i also got the dermalogica multivitamin power recovery mask, and this was much better — really helped my dry winter skin, and seemed to revive and heal.

The ultimate moisture mask. Feel SUPER MOISTURE and SUPER SOFT after mask. I also use it daily on flaky spots which are being dried out by oxy-5. Good to over-sun-expose dry hand as well. I am sure this is better than the daily-use SKII aqua-pack. Honestly, it’s not expensive. Put on a not-too-thin layer(thicker is more effective than thinner) and rest for 30 mins, a bit longer than instruction then rinse off. Do the mask for 2 consecutive nites and get the super soft super moisture skin for DAYS!

After reading the rave of another reviewer, I could not stop myself to rush in the LP shop and asked for a sample of this (I am a VIP).
The sample is quite generous – 7 ml in tube. I think the package in tube is much more better than in a jar. But maybe the people thing products in jar is more luxury and easier to use up all of them? But I worry if they will get exposed to air and easily contaminated.
The mask itself is excellent. It is a creamy mask. I let it to sit on my skin for 5 mins only as I was in hurry but when I washed it off – Woow! My skin is super soft, super smooth and the pores are so tiny and hardly noticed. I have tried other hydrating mask like Sonia Rykiel, Fancl, Clinique, EL. But no one can compare with this except Sonia Rykiel Firming Mask but this one has even more long lasting result and more hydrating, more moisturising. I would definitely purchase this and use it once a week. But the price is real steep. About HK$500 for 30 ml.
I will try to leave a layer in my face before going to bed, too. I can imagine it will be super XDXDXD -Lol- Try this one! Oh, but for oily and very oily girls, you may find it a bit oily because its texture is rich and kinda like cream.
