Although I don’t suffer from sensitive eyes, I do have sensitive skin. Every time I applied this product, it stinked badly right where the eye area ends and I started to develop acne in that area.
I really wanted to like it and tried to use it several times by convincing myself that there was something else causing the breakouts, but every time I used it was the same, so I had to discontinue it.
I gave it to my sister-in-law and she’s more than happy with it. I guess it’s just my sensitive and acne prone skin.
I love Chanel makeup and skincare, but this is a pass for me.

On the Chanel website it is stated that “A creamy overnight mask that, after transforming into dew-like droplets, helps skin oxygenate during the night. Upon waking, signs of fatigue appear diminished and the complexion looks rested with a fresh radiant glow.” It is a leave on overnight mask.
The product is indeed formulated in a way that it does supply hydration to the skin through many hours evenly and continuously. The Japanese emulsion-technology allows the formula to “water-drop” “mimicking” real water droplets that are visible at application and will absorb into the skin immediately leaving a refreshing and light yet not dry or drying feeling on the skin.
This is the exact same technology that Urban Decay have used in their Hot Springs Hydrating Gel that cost a fraction of the price of this Chanel “mask”. (Review for the Urban Decay cream you’ll find at
This mask from Chanel can be used also as a light refreshing day cream (just as well as a night cream).
It contains a light emollient of synthetic origin (Isononyl Isononanoate), dimethicone and a crosslinked silicone emulsifier that also lends elegance and a flattering finish to the skin, along with some effective humectants (Propanediol, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol).
The only notable and proven actives in the formula are Sodium Hyaluronate, Magnesium Aspartate, Zinc Gluconate and Copper Gluconate that have anti-oxidant properties and can enhance the appearance of the surface of the skin. Although the amount that is used here is unfortunately very minuscule.
Comparing this product to the Urban Decay one, it will leave a more perceptible residue after application, albeit very light. The finish is almost indistinguishable, the only giveaway is that the emollients in the Chanel mask will leave a more perceptible moisturizing feeling longer.
If you have oilier skin or live in a warm/humid climate, the product from Urban Decay will be more favoured. It is after all built on a true to the core Japanese emulsion technology! (The one from Chanel uses the same technology but pared with a less”silicone” and hence “trendier” emollient that also meets the Western audience.)
If you have dryer skin and like to feel replenished even in hotter weather, the mask from Chanel might be more suitable. Note that it is still a very light product and will not feel as a regular moisturizer (nor a mask)!
It contains fragrance that one might find too strong. (The moisturizer from Urban Decay is completely fragrance free.)
