Got a very generous sample of this from the Aveda store and I definitely have no plans to buy it. I don’t think this is any better than any standard clay masque. I just started my period and have some PMS related breakouts going on and I was hoping it would calm those a bit and it didn’t. In fact my skin feels sort of irritated and dry and I do not have sensitive skin. My skin is combo. I don’t think this really made any difference at all and I’ve used it probably 3 times or so since I got the sample. As usual with Aveda products, I don’t see the appeal and for what they charge, the products should be better than they are. Aveda is just not for me.

Thought it was high time I reviewed this. I received this as a gift, otherwise I probably would’ve shrugged at the site of this and would’ve moved on. Luckily, I tried it last May, and have used it ever since. I love how this doesn’t dry out my skin at all (and I’m one to get really anal about this kind of stuff). The scent is herbally -hence the name- has a thick odd texture, and i only use about a thumb nail’s amount each time for my problem areas. It’s a pain to remove, but I also was given their shammy/cloth which removes it very well. It leaves my skin calm, soothed and clearer. I’m sure that if I were to use this twice a week my clogged skin would clear up faster, but I want to conserve this as much as possible. It’s a true – hidden – gem, that I will use until the sky falls. I won’t complain about the price, given I’ve used it almost every week since last May (2009).
I recommend this after an extraction when the skin is irritated and is likely to become infected. It definitely helps to clean out the dead skin and oil on the face, but doesn’t cause flaky skin or rough skin. Oh and since it’s in a tube it makes it so much easier NOT to contaminate the product. I’m sorry but why the heck do some skin care companies have the need to put masks in tubs? Seriously.

This product is absolutely foul. It smells off and is not designed for oily skins. While there is kaolin content, the mask never dries and goes clear after a while. It left me feeling icky and clammy. I can’t see how it deep cleanses but at least it doesn’t dry you out completely. This is more designed for very dry skins that can’t use typical clay masks. I would not purchase this product unless you have sampled this first. Grossly overpriced and was returned within one day. This puts more gunk on your skin than what it takes out.
