I bought this because the packaging claims it gives a tight lining effect. I was intrigued as I have light lashes and its absolutely impossible to get the root of the lash and my mascara always looks patchy. I get what they are trying to do with the brush, but it doesn’t really work well and is awkward to apply especially on the inner corner of the lashes. My biggest complaint is that this flakes terribly after about ten hours. It got in my eyes and made them itchy, and I had flakes of mascara fallout under my eye. Pretty much a huge no, I would not recommend. No one likes flaky mascara, and if you have sensitive eyes, don’t even bother. L’Oreal makes some great mascaras, this is not one of them.

The formula is was very wet and didn’t volumize or curl or anything. And it was very difficult applying it because of the shape of the brush. Works with one eye but not with the other. Have to hold it in an odd way to apply it. But worse part was that it flakes. It went onto my contact lenses and by the time I could use cleaning solution to clean them, the black makeup was stuck to the lenses. I had to throw both out. I tried cleaning my lashes with makeup remover. Nothing really showed up on the makeup removal pad. I put new contacts on and again, my vision was smudged by more of the makeup coming off the lashes. Absolute garbage.

Of my nearly 2+ decades purchasing various L’Oreal mascara formulas this has got to be the worst.
The brush is thoroughly absurd in how it holds and applies product.
The handle is rather large and bulky for me and I do not have small hands. Because of this design I have nearly dropped the confounded thing numerous times.
Because the brush design is IMO idiotic it makes application thick, clumpy and uneven, especially when attempting to apply to the inner lash area.
I learned to roll the mascara wand through my lashes while applying mascara. Impossible with this peculiar brush.
When switching hands one must be mindful to align the brush to the lashes or else nothing will apply.
After application I need a lash comb to immediately separate my lashes. Otherwise I’d have thick spikes of spider legs for lashes. Not the look I want.
I have needed to use another mascara brands brush to spread the mascara through my lashes. By doing this my lashes finally look nice, but the time and work involved makes this product go to my epic fail category.

Great “base” mascara. After I curl my lashes, this does a great job defining and “showing” them and applying a base for the rest of my mascaras to cling to. Historically, I have always used 2-3 mascaras layered together. That’s just how I roll. In my opinion, there’s no such thing as amazing lashes with one mascara. Stop wasting money trying to find the perfect standalone. It doesn’t exist. Any single mascara you use – unless it’s formulated horribly or has an awful wand – is going to seem like it’s giving you good results. To get GREAT results, layer.
If you get this, buy it on eBay because you can find it for $5 shipped if you’re lucky. It usually runs $8 at the drugstore, I think. I like this one a lot better than the Original Voluminous Butterfly.
My only complaint with this is that it DOES dry out and becomes difficult to use. But It’s cheap and lasts long enough for me that it isn’t a problem. And I’d rather have a cheap mascara that eventually dries out a little than a $20+ mascara like that awful Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes mascara that RUNS AND SMEARS.

This is an amazing mascara. I need to go buy a backup right now. This is very, very good. I watch the beautiful Indian-UK beauty YouTuber named Kaushal and she swears by this so I thought I’d pick it up. I am one of those women who either layers 4 coats of mascara on my lashes for extreme length and volume or pairs 2 mascaras together. I put this over Maybelline Big Shot mascara and my lashes looked fake to me. They looked like Ardell double up whispies to be exact. So the Big Shot gave me some volume and length (1 coat). Then I placed this wand at the base of my lashes and blinked it onto them for the combing effect it gives and oh my goodness, this made me some big, sooty lashes on both eyes. I went in with a metal lash comb, you know not because it was necessary but because I have a problem. Then went in with another coat of the butterfly sculpt and oh my I had the most voluminous, defined lashes of all time. This is a very well done product that I plan to purchase over and over. I love how much the drugstore makes high end mascaras unnecessary.

This is a very wet mascara and the comb makes it easy for you to apply too much and for it to be clumpy. It does give a great full lash effect to the lashes but it does irritate my eyes, i think due to the ‘tightlining’ style claim they make which is basically they get mascara into the upper waterline area which is too irritating for me. It is $$ for a drugstore mascara (about $10 CDN) but L’oreal mascaras tend to be on the higher end side

The crappy comb clumps all my lashes together. The formula is way too wet, weighs down my lashes, clumpy, flakes, doesn’t hold a curl, takes ages to dry. Doesn’t volumize or lengthen, flakes everywhere and isn’t easy to remove. The black shade was ok but the brown black one was a boring greyish brown not a rich deep brown I was wanting. I’m surprised L’Oreal put their name to this 🙁

This This This..This mascara is ahhhh-mazing!!!! I never thought I would find a mascara that #1-lengthened without creating 4 little eyelashes #2- gave volume without clumping #3-held curl to my stick-straight lashes #4-didn’t smudge or flake #5-gives BAM to my non-existent lower lashes. The brush & the formula are exactly what I’ve been looking for. The little bristles on the brush really gets into the base of my lashes giving me that thick lash effect. And I can easily coat my bottom lashes without getting mascara everywhere. The formula is on the wetter side, but I’m okay with that. I will definitely be repurchasing this one!

This is my holy grail mascara. It gently lifts and separates my lashes and creates a full, voluminous look to them and is the only mascara I’ve tried so far that holds a curl. It also lengthens and doesn’t smudge or flake and is easy to put on the lower lashes because of the unique wand. It can be a bit clumpy but I’ve always been able to fix it without much fuss, either by wiggling the wand or by going over it with a clean finger or spoolie. It’s also the easiest formula I’ve found to remove, so no harsh tugging needed, since it flakes off very gently with makeup remover. Overall, if you don’t mind plastic wands and like volumizing formulas, it’s worth a try.

Gets all of the little lashes and makes lashes look stunning
