No volume whatsoever, but a nice black color and a slight lengthening of my lashes. Good for an everyday look, but too expensive for that purpose, so would not buy again. The wand was also a bit spiky and hard, so it hurt my eyelids.

I bought this while vacationing in Europe and with the Canadian exchange rate the Max Factor mascaras are almost as expensive as the high end ones sold at Sephora, so not drugstore prices. I have heard so much about MF mascaras over the years and decided to buy 4 different formulas. This one, like the other 3, didn’t do much to my lashes other than tint them black.

Good for length and definition. Does not smudge or flake. But the volume is totally missing. Average mascara.

If you want a good mascara that gives you that false lash effect or if you just want to try a Max Factor mascara: don’t bother buying this one, just get the original Max Factor False Lash Effect instead. I got this one after I ran out of my False Lash Effect and honestly, the original is so much better. The formula of the Velvet Volume one takes much longer to dry out a bit. The formula is very ‘fluid-y’ at first so it is hard to separate and coat your lashes nicely. Furthermore, I don’t like the brush. If you want to separate each and every lash then you have to push the bristles of the brush onto your lashes, but since the bristles are so short, you always end up with mascara on your eyelids. All in all not a horrible mascara, but since the original False Lash Effect does not have these issues, just get that one!

This is a nice mascara for an every-day occasion, I find that it gives a very nice definition and length- but not so much in the volume department.
I do like the colour, it is quite black and intense. The finish is very natural-looking, almost like you wear nothing at all. Perfect for those of you who want that quick mascara on the go for every-day or just something subtle to wear when you do a smokey eye.

I very much liked this mascara. It has a faboulos price/value ratio. I like it for daily use. It separates the lashes perfectly and gives them Volume and a good curvy shape. It is not a “WOW-mascara” in terms of its effect, so I would not use it for a party makeup, where one wants dramatic lashes. But my point is that at work you usually do want to look natural and that is what this mascara does. I recomend it for girls whose daily eye make up consists of just mascara or mascara plus a thin eyeliner.

Ugh. This mascara was awful.
I absolutely LOVE the False Lash Effect mascara from Max Factor and decided to pick up a mascara that wasn’t waterproof to save my lashes. I loved the packaging on this mascara and the claims of ‘volume’ drew me in.
I tried this on the next morning after curling my lashes anddd… it was horrible.
Firstly, the brush is so spiky it irritated my eyes! It felt like I was coating my eyeballs with spikes and I hated the application, there was no volume at all and my lashes dropped so much I could actually see them in my eyeline. NOT GOOD.
Would never buy again for the price, ridiculous.
