I’d read and watched some great reviews on this mascara so had high hopes. I really like the packaging, and the mascara had some weight to it, making it feel more expensive than it is. When I first applied it, I found it didn’t add much volume, which I’d hoped, but it did add length. It was also relatively clumpy and I had to bring out my lash comb, which I don’t need for my Maybelline Total Temptation. Although I would have been okay with the mascara (it’s a nice dark black), it ended up transferring onto my upper cheeks by midday. I have relatively oily skin, and that’s one of the reasons I buy waterproof. The transfer was the deal-breaker. I’m going to try Revlon’s Volumazing next, but will stick with my Maybelline.

I’m always looking for a good waterproof mascara that is affordable. I know essence products from my time spent in Europe and am pleased that they can now be found in North America. This brand has always been top quality for very little money.
The waterproof version of Lash Princess is a recent addition to this line. It really is waterproof. Lengthens my lashes beautifully, is not clumpy and holds a curl. My only beef with this mascara is that it’s really hard to remove at the end of the day. Even with my 2-phase makeup remover, I still have black smudges under my eyes the next morning. It REALLY stays put. If you don’t mind the extra work of having to remove this mascara and you’re looking for truly waterproof, lengthening mascara that won’t budge, this is for you. I have decided to move on to another mascara of this brand that is a little easier to remove.
