I was looking for a brush to use with blush and bronzer at the drugstore and was blown away by the prices… even drugstore powder brushes cost around $10. That’s certainly less expensive than other brushes on the market but still more than I was expecting. I was about to give up the search and resolve to make the cheap brushes that came with my products work… until I glanced at the Wet n’ Wild section. Saw this brush for $1.99 and figured I’d give it a shot.
It has short, rounded bristles that are perfect for powder application. Made of natural goat hairs. Now I’m sure you can get softer brushes and for a brush aficionado this one may seem rough. To me however, I was surprised at how soft it is. It isn’t particularly dense, but dense enough to get the job done. My blush and bronzer both look flawless when I apply them with this.
The first several times I used it some bristles DID shed. I’d have 1 black hair somewhere on my face after using it. However, this is probably to be expected from such an inexpensive makeup brush. Also, the brush itself seems pretty sturdy. Not sure if that’s the right way to describe it exactly… but I purchased a foundation brush from the drugstore recently (can’t recall the brand) and it literally immediately fell apart (the brush coming apart from the handle) the first time I used it. There’s no problems like that at all with this one.
1/6/2016 EDIT: I wanted to come back in and edit my review because as I’ve used this brush more every day, it sheds more and more. After the first few times it didn’t shed, but now when I use it, every time I’m left with tons of black bristles on my face that I have to pick off. I wouldn’t repurchase and would rather spend more money on a brush that’ll last longer than two months.
