I bought this with the intention of using it on my body. I was really excited to try it because at the time, Cerave had just started selling in my country and I wanted to see what the fuss was all about. I also enjoy that this has a tub version because one of my pet peeves with body creams and lotions is when you can’t get the remaining product once it begins to run out (unless you cut the bottle open, which I think is a hassle). My body skin is really prone to dryness, especially in winter to the point that my arms and legs would get ashy and/or scaly if I don’t moisturise at all. It is a VERY thick cream, probably the thickest I’ve ever tried, but I don’t mind. It also helps to apply it straight after showering so that the cream spreads easier. AND… this cream is the only one to ever soften my rough, dry elbows and knees. Ever since moving to Australia 16 or so years ago, my elbows and knees have been super dry and I’ve used a lot of different body lotions to try and alleviate that. But I’ve never seen it happen until this product. I’m not using it currently though because honestly, it’s a little more expensive than most body lotions at the chemist so what I’ve done is I’ve just bought the hand cream version of this (which is very similar imo) and I use that on my elbows and knees instead. It works just as well.
As far as using it for the face, I don’t know because I’ve never tried nor do I want to. My face skin is a little oilier than my body skin and it’s also acne prone so I don’t think this is a good moisturiser for my face. It actually broke my chest and back a little bit, so I apply only a little on those areas (or just use my face moisturiser on those areas instead). Overall, I think this is a great one for those with dry skin or skin conditions that pertain to dryness!

I’ve been using this for quite some time on my body (thank you Dr. Dray) but decided out of desperation on my peeling facial skin to give it a go on my face. I was surprised my skin soaked it all up, but more surprising was the fact that it didn’t feel greasy on my skin or give me Milia.
I will go back to my favorite Belief moisture cream this was just a quick trial and it worked!
If you buy the tub with the pump it’s better than dipping your fingers into the tub.

I’m halfway through my second tub of this with exclusive use on my face(a tub lasts me about a year). This moisturiser works amazing for my combo/dehydrated skin. Fair warning that it is quite thick, but leaves my face soft and without a greasy shine. I do feel like if you live anywhere humid or hot, it WILL be too heavy, but it’s a godsend for Canadian winters(I sometimes add a drop of oil to help it blend into the skin easier). It can be difficult to find an inexpensive fragrance-free drugstore moisturiser but Cerave does the job and it’s all I can ask for.

I brought up, that it was very hard for me personally to choose a suitable cream, as most of them gave my skin red patches , and I have very dehydrated skin. and after trying this brand I was very surprised that my skin took it very well. no redness, skin looked moist and comfortable. Zero complaints – I’ve used this moisturiser for a good five years now (changed from the Kiehl’s one!) Keeps my sensitive/dry skin nice and soft. Love how it’s not scented. Sinks into my skin and works well as a primer for any make up that I apply.

King of all moisturizers. The best moisturizer. I like Aveeno products too but since using this I now stopped. I look amazing. I don’t need makeup at all. I won’t even look at another moisturizer. I believe the Clinique cream in a tub not lotion that’s yellow is very similar to this but this is still the king. Has four important parts of a moisturizer. I pretty much look like a goddess now.
Update: itchy skin!!! I’ll stick to Aveeno or Clinique. It was nice for a few days, back to my baby Aveeno. I just put it on and now I can go back to looking good again, my bf said I don’t look red anymore lol. I should have never strayed from Aveeno or Clinique bc they are the products that got rid of my psoriasis and eczema. Vanicream is good too but Aveeno and Clinique are still my faves.
Update Again: HG! I will always love cetaphil products lol. They just have the right ingredients. I began using this with a wash cloth and cleanser and now my problems went BYE BYE. I wasn’t properly cleansing, that’s why I got itchy skin, I blamed it on my favorite moisturizer of all time, that actually moisturizes. If you don’t find this enough, all you need to do is get a tub of eucerin that says original healing. I’m pretty sure your dry skin will vanish. It’s super heavy duty, I dont use it bc I don’t like looking like grease face at night, but if you don’t mind that get it. This one is the perfect balance of oils and lipids. love it.

I used to use LaMer and then switched to Nivea because the ingredients are identical. LaMer however, is $600 for the same size lol. The Nivea creme gives me the exact same results!!! I know this because I used Nivea on half of my face for 7 months while I finished my LaMer on the other half of my face at the same time. Zero difference!!!! Love it, grew up on this stuff and came back to it recently. This is the best cream for patchy elbows, dry feet, anywhere you need extra care basically. I buy the pots to use on my body but have a tube version to use on my face. It really is lovely after clarisonic, I mix it with 3-4 drops of my kiehl’s midnight repair oil and wake up to great skin.

I have been using this as my night time moisturizer for years and I will never use anything else. I am 53 years old and people consistently guess my age as being iin my 30’s or younger. I have no wrinkles around my eyes or mouth and I attribute this to using the nivea. I agree with other reviewers that it is best used at night because of its consistency but you should use a daytime moisturizer that has an SPF anyway. It is also very cost effective. I will buy the big 13.5 ounce jar and it will last for more than 2 years( I was curious once so I put a dated sticker on the bottom with the date I first started using the jar) and it was over 2 years before I used the last of it. This is an old school cream that does not contain all the bells and whistles that other high end expensive moisturizers may have in them but as far as I am concerned this simple cream beats them all hands down!

I have only just tried this – can’t believe I hadn’t tried it years ago. This is a super thick super hydrating old-time moisturising cream but damn it is good if you have dry skin. My skin hasn’t looked so glowy and fresh in years. I also love the old Olay lotions but they are just too light for my skin this is so emollient it is perfect. I have given up using my beloved Anew Reversalist night cream and switched to this – saved myself alot of money doing so as this is about $8 on special here in NZ. Too rich for day but perfect at night slathered over a serum or just on its own. Perfect around the eyes – I suffer from millia which most eye creams (apart from gels) irritate and just make worse, this just seems to lock in the moisture without causing more lumps. An old classic and for good reason! very thick – heat up slightly in your palms – rub them together about 6 times this friction softens the texture and allows it to glide on smoothly. The formula we have in NZ is in a blue plastic jar and is made in Germany – no parabens or preservatives so that is also a bonus. Cheap as chips and the best hand treatment for winter skin also.

Classic Oil of Olay Moisturising Cream has been around for many many MANY years! Certainly not as classic as it’s star product Original Beauty Fluid, a beautiful liquid light lotion texture that sinks into skin immediately without a hint of greasiness.
This product in comparison to the original beauty fluid is ofcourse not a lotion but a cream. Don’t be fooled by it’s thick texture, this too sinks in without a hint of greasiness and moisturises skin beautifully. No it may not be the most anti-aging product on the shelf but it is vanity staple and whilst the packaging isn’t as elegant as it was in the 80s and 90s it is a simple classic no frills moisturiser that does it’s job well. It employs the long standing oldest laboratory made cosmetic ingredient Petrolatum and Mineral Oil. Do not believe the scare tactics of all the wellness freaks and organic natural nuts out there. These two ingredients do the job and have been protecting skins of men and women for well over a 100 years with no reported issues. :Unless ofcourse you are sensitive to these ingredients yourself or have an allergy to them.
The cream has a beautiful thick luscious texture, pale pink and a wafting old fashioned powder room smell, it’s simply glamour in a jar. Bring back fond memories of my grandmother and mother.

For those who use this during the daytime be sure to follow with sunblock as this has no sun protection! The jar packaging is plain and simple, I wish they kept the old Olay Logo, now (thanks to this crazy trend for minimalism) the logo is nowhere to be seen and is drably simple with nothing but the words Olay Moisturising Cream on the jar. Bring back the Glamour Oil of Olay!!!!

Love this cream. I use the sensitive version (fragrance free, etc). and it’s great for keeping my skin balanced in the cold Winter months. A basic cream meant for moisturizing, nothing more, nothing less — but it really does the job. The cheap price makes it all the better! I only subtracted a lippy due to its jar format (which is very unhygienic) — be sure to wash your hands directly before putting your fingers in the jar to prevent any germs/product contamination.

This is a good moisturizer that I use every day, all year. I have oily sensitive skin, but it does not make my skin greasy or irritated. It doesn’t aggravate my acne. Before switching to this, I used Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer with Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 15– Sensitive – which was ok, but the cream is better in my opinion.

This is my night cream as I feel like its too thick for me during the day. I have combination skin and it makes my t-zone oily throughout the day so it’s strictly a night product for me. It makes my skin so smooth and hydrated. I’ve never had any issues with it breaking me out. One negative thing I would have to say is that it has such a strong scent – smells like roses to me and to be honest it’s hard to handle sometimes. The smell lasts on my skin too. But it’s such a lovely moisturizer I will repurchase it in the unscented version next time.

Basic, boring body cream that’s great for dry skin. It contains a goo dmix of natural emollient oils, humectants like glycerin, and occlusives like dimethicone and petrolatum to hold all that moisture in. I apply it to my still wet skin after I shower and use as a hand cream after after washing and it works great. I am almost totally satisfied with this product. It’s so cheap, pretty derned effective, and has a very light, pleasant, natural scent. The sage oil, I think. My only caveat is that it contains 2 ingredients I was actually trying to avoid. Dimethicone and Petrolatum. I saw the ‘cones and wasn’t deterred, but somehow overlooked the petrol because I just wasn’t expecting it in a Trader Joe’s product. When I got it home and re-read the ingredients, I was shocked and disappointed…but I will continue to use it and I might repurchase if this gigantic bottle ever runs out. A little dab will do, so I might have this one for a long, long time. My only complaint about the way this product WORKS, is that the “Fresh, Super-Moisturized” effect is a *little* short lived for my taste…but at this price, I don’t mind reapplying if needed.

I guess I’m in the minority as I don’t find this lotion to be anything very special. I have purchased it a couple of times when I’ve run out of body lotion and happened to be at Trader Joe’s (since I shop there all the time). The price is right, and you get a huge amount of product. I even like the sturdy packaging and the light aloe scent. But the lotion itself doesn’t moisturize very well at all. It feels sticky after you apply it, and my hands feel dry a few minutes after I put it on, almost as though I didn’t use any lotion on them. So I will use this up since I don’t like to waste product, but MUCH prefer Aveeno, Gold Bond or Alba Botanica for daily body lotions. I guess you get what you pay for.

I work in a doctor’s office and wash my hands/hand sanitize about a zillion times a day. This bad by comes with me where ever I got to follow a wash and it is amazing, I also keep one in my car and everywhere else I can think of. I wanted to like this. Truly. I love SebaMed. Love that their formulations are simple, but functional; love that everything is formulated to a pH of 5.5; love that it’s no frills and minimal marketing. But this just did not work for my skin. No matter how much or how little I used, and no matter what I did or didn’t use under this it never felt like it absorbed into my skin. It just sat there, slick and thin and not really moisturizing. It might have worked as a more occlusive layer for me, but it clogged my pores after a few days use, every single time. I kept trying to give it chances, but I could just not get it to work. And if you’re sensitive to fragrance beware because it’s very fragranced too.

While on isotretinoin anti-acne meds, this really helped with moisturising my skin with the excessive dryness. It also helps with my stress-related episodes of mild eczema. Normally my skin is combination but it’s been drier recently due to the meds and I had to replace my St. Ives which provides lighter moisture.
Moisture locks in very well and leaves skin non-greasy. I need to apply twice a day. My skin has gotten so much softer! The “fragrance” is very sterile and medicinal – not my fav but I don’t mind it either.
Only fault – packaging! The rim is quite small and as the product is finishing off, it’s harder to access.

I have dehydrated-normal skin and tried a sample a representative at Costco gave to me of SebaMed’s moisturizing cream. I love Costco and consequently had high hopes, but unfortunately this was a disappointment. This has a mild fragrance that is slightly bitter and a thin lotion-like texture. In fact, texture-wise it most closely reminds me of Cetaphil lotion (not the cream) and might even be less moisturizing than that.
I used this as an evening moisturizer, applying it to damp cleansed skin. After a couple of minutes, I patted a thin layer of oil (right now it’s argan or evening primrose) or Vaseline to seal in the moisture. This is my regular moisturizing routine and it keeps the flakes at bay. However, with just 2 nights of SebaMed’s moisturizer, I’m now a flaky mess after a couple months of being flake-free throughout winter.
This is not very moisturizing and I wouldn’t describe it as a “cream.” This may be better suited for someone with normal or oily skin who is looking for a lightweight moisturizer but as the smell is somewhat unpleasant I wouldn’t go out of your way for it.

This in combination with the Clear Face Face wash, has really helped clear my skin. This always moisturizes but does not make my skin oily. I find that in the summer months, it still works great as long as I just use a little bit, not alot. This definitely helps to keep my skin clearer than it has been in a long time. I ordered some skin care from lovelyskin.com and got a pile of Sebamed samples, including about 5 sample packets of this. As with the other samples I got (oil shower cleanser and the liquid face and body wash), this product had a light but distinct fragrance. Like all other Sebamed products, it has a skin-healthy pH of 5.5.
Unlike the other products, the fragrance really bothered me in this product, probably because it stays on your face and does not rinse off. The fragrance seemed a spicy floral, and the scent just overpowered me, even though it’s not particularly strong and does fade. It did not cause any rashes or irritation, but I found it too stinky for my face. I also have extremely oily skin, and this was OK on winter dry patches, aside from the stink, but it caused an oil buildup in my pores when used all over. It did sink in quickly and did not leave any bothersome stickiness or shininess. I’m sure it would be fine on someone with dry to combo skin, as my skin is very oily. I see also that the full-size product comes in a jar, and I HATE jars.
Overall, not a good match for a very oily person who dislikes fragranced facial products, but I think it would work well for those who like fragrance on their faces and who have skin that is not very oily.

This was a gift from friend with the same skin type as mine, but she’s a lot younger. We are both sensitive/acne/and I am aging. I’m dealing with a lot of changes with my skin right now as I am 50 years old and I’m constantly looking for creams that do not break out my skin, yet are soothing and moisturizing. This is not easy to do as the creams that work best are not easy to find.
The cream is noted for its ability to match the acidity of the skin’s hydrolipid barrier with pH 5.5 to naturally allow barrier recovery. I need this cream after my weekly MUAC peels to help restore the skin’s barrier because the barrer is the protection that the skin needs to guard against irritation, dehydration, pollution, etc.
I’m amazed at how thick this cream is yet how light it is on the skin and how moist it KEEPS the skin. I’m so happy to have it for the winter because my skin needs protection from the cold and dry air. I feel that this will be a permanent part of my skincare and will continue to purchase. I removed one point for packaging as it’s not as sanitary as I would like, however clean hands and fingers solves this problem.

I like this as a body cream, not for my face. I use it right after I shower or after washing my hands. As a body lotion, it is not greasy, but leaves my skin nice and smooth. I feel protected from the elements with none of the grease or wetness that other lotions have. It is as lightweight as it gets. I can tell it’s on because it makes the back of my hands shiny. I think there must be a good amount of silicone in here, which I have no problem with. I don’t like it on my face. It never sinks in at all and just feels heavy there. It even stings a little. For the face, I use Vanicream, Neutrogena sensitive skin lotion, or Beauty 360 advanced repair. For my body, I like this cream and Aquation best. I don’t love the big jar and wish the pump version were easier to find. My CVS didn’t have it. I have a 1.89 oz. tube of this in my purse and it is a good hand cream. I don’t grease up my phone screen after I use it. Will buy again.

This is a fantastic cream. I’ve only been using this for a month but after hearing rave reviews for years, I decided to give my usual Nivea creme a break and give this one a shot. Right off the bat, this is an amazing makeup primer. Nivea is so greasy, I don’t dare use it during the day. I have combo-dry skin in the winter and I am definitely acne prone – so far, no breakouts.
This product has no scent, which is a definite plus, and it sinks right in. At night I mix this with a few drops of argan oil and wake up to baby soft, supple skin.
I am also a free lance makeup artist and this is my staple for prepping the skin, clients love it too! Costco has gigantic 20oz sizes of this, when you see it on sale, I suggest you snag it!
I will probably not go back to Nivea anytime soon and give this one a good run as this is just what my skin needs in the late fall/winter months here in the harsh Canadian climate. I say to anyone out there on the fence about this product, give it a go. Worst case? If it doesn’t work out as a face cream for you, it’s a heavenly body cream. I just wish they still sold this cream in the tube. Other than that, definite re-purchase. This is simply put the best body moisturizer on the market that I’ve found in all my years. And I’m even happier with it now that they got rid of parabens. Though I will say, as they don’t seem to have added any other preservatives (and this jar clearly seems to need something, since the product has plenty of exposure to air and potential germs in this packaging) and they don’t claim to be paraben-free, part of me wonders if it really is paraben-free / what gives now that they’re gone.
In any case, I started using this after it was recommended to me by a dermatologist for dry skin issues, and since then, I’ve consistently gotten tons of comments on how soft my skin is. In fact, all of my family and ex boyfriends and many of their family members now use this too, as this simply works better than any other and WITHOUT CLOGGING PORES or causing body acne/bumps. It’s also fragrance free. I really cannot highly recommend enough for BODY use. For face use, it does seem to break me out, so I sometimes use around the eyes but that’s it. The only thing that would make this better is if it were lower on EWG’s scale (gets a 3-4 due to ingredients like Benzyl Alcohol), but I’m not going to deduct a lippie for that, as that isn’t terrible and there really isn’t anything else lower on the scale that I have ever found that I think is better as far as moisturization without body acne.
TIP: As with any moisturizer, ALWAYS use on slightly damp skin to lock in moisture. You miss half the benefit of rich moisturizers like this if you don’t do that. I always use right after my shower, after toweling off very lightly.
Note on old vs new formula: Partly because of this product’s EWG rating, I’ve been trying to go more natural and use various oils (jojoba, or sunflower mixed with a bit of squalane) more often and only use this once or twice a week these days (may use more in winter), so for now I can’t say I’ve noticed a significant difference between the old formula and new. I think I noticed a bit of a difference on first impression, but not enough to even remember now – and I’ll take the difference if it really does mean no parabens, which would have caused me to give up on this great product altogether. I do think maybe the old formula might have been better in terms of not clogging facial pores, but I can’t say for sure. This one does say “Body” only on the front, while the old one said “Face and Body.” Once I start using more often in cooler weather, if I feel like it works differently than it used to, I will update my review.

This cream in conjunction with Pond’s cold cream have turned my skin from problematic combination skin to smooth, clear and perfectly hydrated skin.
In January this year my skin looked a right disaster mainly due to the very cold winter we’d had so far (between -20 to -28 degrees Celsius), and in a fit or despair I tossed all of my expensive, useless Dermalogica and MD Formulations products, and dug out my old tin of Nivea from the back of the bathroom shelf. I remembered how my great aunt had used this cream her entire life, and had amazing skin. I had always thought that it would be too rich for me, but at that point I thought it was worth a try. I smeared it on, and removed the sticky residue with a cotton pad soaked in rose water I got for baking some time before. The next day the difference was striking. I swear it takes 20 years off the skin (I’m 39 years old).
Once I saw this I decided to continue using Nivea, and I also ordered Pond’s cold cream online, since I had read such great things about it. And this regime really works. I cleanse my skin with Pond’s, follow with Nivea and finish with rose water, and my skin looks fab. I might decide to test out other brands of cold cream, but I’m sticking with Nivea,

I decided to test a similar cream to this one, called Astral, as I found some rave reviews on it, and I decided to tell how I feel Nivea and Astral compare with each other. Astral has a lovely soft texture and opalescent shine to it, and it makes the skin very soft. There is also no need to use rose water after applying, as the cream sinks in very well. Nivea has a firmer texture and takes a bit of work to rub in, and it will leave a film on the skin. But as Astral unfortunately breaks me out (it made a mess of the side of the nose) and Nivea never has caused breakouts, Nivea still wins the competition.

I’ve always had mixed feelings about this cream.
It’s a thick heavy moisturizer that’s very greasy/oily to touch and doesn’t seem to wear off for hours BUT it definitely does the job in terms off moisturizing.
If my skin is feeling really dry then i’l put it on before i go to bed, treat it as a night cream and when i wake up my skin is instantly softer with no trace of dryness.
I think that’s the best way to use it, as it has time to fully sink in over night and do it’s job properly but as a day cream it’s too heavy because you have to wait a long time for it to fully absorb.

I have tried many night time moisturizers, but always come back to Olay Replenishing night creme. I find this absorbs really well, not to heavy. The price is good, and I find it lasts a long ime as you don’t need to use alot, I usually rub some on my hands as well.

Right now this is my HG moisturizer for during the day. It makes my skin feel so soft and moisturized but it doesn’t leave a greasy feeling like some face creams do. I’ll for sure keep using this until Spring and then I’m going to try the SPF version since I live on the beach and I’m down there every day when its warm. If you’re looking for a simple and cheap moisturizer that works well I’d give this a go.

This is my go-to perfect moisturizer. I use it when I have dry skin, I use it when my skin is very oily, I use it no matter the season/temperature, and I am not interested in trying other moisturizers.
It’s a very basic, simple, moisturizing cream, which is exactly what I need. It’s classic, and I love the scent. Provides just enough moisture, regardless of how my skin is acting. Has never caused any breakouts. Peforms WAY better than some much more expensive moisturizers I’ve tried. REALLY dry skin might need something extra moisturizing, but I really have to emphasize that this is suitable for oily skin. It does not make you greasy or shiny, but actually helps with that by adding some moisture to your skin, so your skin doesn’t hyper-produce oil.
This comes in different formulations and sizes and this is what I have tried
[+] Original, regular size jar
[+] Original, large jar
[+] Original, regular size jar, with SPF (called Olay Complete w/SPF or something like that)
[+] Replenishing Night Cream, regular size jar
[+] Original, liquid (lotion)
Out of all, I like the original formulation in the jar best. The night cream is good for night, but the original works well, morning or night.
The SPF version gave both me and my sister breakouts.
The lotion version doesn’t have the same feel – it feels somewhat sticky, and doesn’t moisturize as well. It doesn’t seem to ‘sink in’ as the jar version does.
Yes, it’s in a jar. But anyone concerned about germs/bacteria from using this type of container wouldn’t be looking into this product anyways. I always use clean hands though…and even expensive HE products like Creme de la Mer put their moisturizer in a jar.
I will continue to repurchase this product over and over.

Great for non-scented body moisturizing, can be used on the face in a pinch, and even does nice job smoothing ends of dry hair without buildup when diluted with a bit of water. Highly recommend for even the most sensitive skins.

I have been using a version of this lotion since I was 16. Over time it has been reformulated and improved. Two things have remained constant, the price is low (Originally 99 cents), and the packaging has been terrible.
It does the job on rough patches and is great post shave, all without any fragrance. I gladly pay a bit more for a pump that works.

I finally bought this after being fed up with the Physiogel Cream – which is also a good product but my skin just got acclimated to it. This is a lovely cream. Here in the Philippines, the product happens to be in a lightweight tube instead of the tub. Its looks greasy and heavy but once it sets onto the skin, result is soft and supple skin. Im currently suffering to Retin A’s painful and nightmarish purging stage and all im doing to alleviate the redness and flakiness is using this nice cream. This is just my 2nd day of using this cream. I will give an update after a week. But for me initial results are so far good. By the way, im also mixing this cream with EL Double Wear and Im happy that application results to dewy finish. The flakiness of my purging skin just disappears.
Update: So It has been a week since I first used this. I love this especially in mixing with my EL DW foundation, result is dewy medium coverage. This also lessens the flakiness and redness cuased by Retin A. I think this has also contributed to the healing process of my breakouts. Good thing I came across to this brand.

For several years, I had used only high-end moisturizers and skin treatments. Then a few weeks ago, as a consequence of layering a few different products, my skin became irritated and a rash appeared on my neck. So, having read positive reviews, went and bought myself Sebamed for sensitive skin, and I am happy with the results. It looks like it would be greasy, but sinks into the skin very quickly. The next day my skin is very soft. I haven’t noticed any side effects. The packaging is not very hygienic and could definitely be improved upon. Overall, a great moisturizer. I am thinking of buying other products of this line as well.

I have to agree with most other reviews here, have been using this cream on and off for the past years. It does a great job in moisturizing my sometimes dehydrated skin, it does not make me break-out nor irritate my skin, it works well under foundation. Unfortunately it is not very easy to find in stores, I wish they would have more places where you can buy it – I am sure sales would go up 😉 !
