I tend to use fragrance-free body lotions and creams, and sometimes I have trouble finding products rich enough to provide extreme long-lasting hydration / protection. Almost all the dermatologist-recommended drug store options contain mineral oil or petrolatum which protect skin, but don’t do much for nourishment and repair. TBS Hemp Body Butter fits my very dry skin needs by using plant oils and butters instead.
Different body butters at TBS have varying ingredient profiles–Hemp Body Butter uses hemp oil, shea butter, cocoa butter and babassu oil as the main emollients. The product is very thick and somewhat hard at room temperature, which is an indication of the high shea / cocoa butter content. When warmed as it is applied, it becomes easier to spread, and soaks in quickly to a non-greasy finish. Hydration and protection lasts a full 24-48 hours, which is phenomenal.
As a patchouli and musk loving perfumista, I greatly appreciate the fragrance profile of Hemp Body Butter. Of all the body butters I’ve tried at both TBS and Bath and Body Works, this is my favorite scent. Those who dislike patchouli may want to try other alternatives at TBS, as there are equally emollient options with different scent profiles (TBS Olive Body Butter, for example). This is a definite repurchase for me!

I love a lot of the other products in this line and wanted to love the body butter. However, I cannot stand the smell. I’ve tried to give it away to my mother, my brother’s girlfriend and friends; but they all complain about the smell. I literally cannot give this product away.

This along with some exfoliating has transformed my skin. It use to be quite rough, scaly and spotty in some areas. Just not great to touch. I soaked a bath with some bath salts. Used Soap and Glory body scrub to exfoliate. Used the hemp body butter all over my body. Smells pretty rank but I somehow got use to it after applying it every night for the first week. My skin is now silky soft. I have achieved my desired result. It really does make your skin soft. If you would like something more pleasant smelling then opt for the Mango body butter because the results are the same. I use to swear by the Mango BB but decided to give this ago for a change as I heard rave reviews. It really is the same as the Mango except the Mango is probably a bit more oily. I would probably just stick to the Mango BB but only if they are on promotion as I do find the tub doesn’t really last that long for the price you’re paying. I’m going to try this other brand that is so much cheaper that a friend swears by. Apparently it’s just as good and smells divine. If that fails to deliver then I may have to come back to this. But I have a good feeling about this other stuff that I need to ask my friend about.

I love this. It is very moisturizing, leaves a nice sheen to the skin, and I looooove the smell. It keeps my skin soft without feeling heavy and it is so easy to spread on the skin. It is a pleasure to use and I will purchase again and again. For me it is HG for sure.

I’m not particularly fond of the smell. But it does help bring moisture to my skin very well! Unfortunately, due to the smell, I probably will not buy it again. And because I don’t use a lot of the product (except on the back of my hands and at the elbows), it has taken me a really long time to finish all the product in the container. I don’t really like using it on other parts of my body (especially my legs, even though they can get quite dry because of my hot showers) because it kind of leaves a thick moisture coating that doesn’t really feel nice against clothing.
I would recommend the Hemp Hand Protector if you have some really chapped hands. Works a lot better than this product. I know, this is BODY BUTTER, so my recommendation might not be fitting, but just in case there are others out there (like me) who are using a body butter as hand lotion… that would be my recommendation to you.

I have been using this since it first came out and I have always loved it. Yes, I even love the smell! It moisturizes very well. I just opened a new tub last week and noticed they seemed to have changed the formula. It’s noticeably thicker and the color is now a blue-green minty color instead of the darker, more olive green color it used to be. I am not happy at all with this formula change. Hopefully it’s just a weird batch.

The smell is intolerable. Unfortunately, the moisturizing properties are not spectacular enough to override the stench of this cream. It does work very well, but it is super greasy and takes forever to sink into my skin, so my pajamas and sheets smell like my medicine cabinet. I woke my partner up the first time I tried to creep into bed with this stuff slathered on me because the smell was so potent.

I like the body shop butters, and this one is adequately creamy and moisturizing. However, I’ve found that the hemp oil in it sits on the skin for hours after the butter has been rubbed in and makes skin feel oily and gross. Not a big fan of the scent, either. It is pretty awful – like earthen clay and dirt. I would not buy this again.

This body butter does moisturize really well, but the smell is just awful- like nature (trees, fresh cut grass, and leaves). I do wear it to work daily because my skin is super dry in the winter and this helps keep it moisturized. I would not repurchase this due to the scent. I hope this product is re released with an improved scent.
