Got a teeny pot of this as a sample from my local dermatologist’s office. Very emollient and moisturizing. I like it but I don;t like the unsantiary-ness of a pot/jar. However this is too thick and viscous for a tube or pump-top. I much prefer Eucerin’s Advanced Repair lotion which is still plenty thick for my tastes and effective for dry, peeling/flaking winter skin. (Glycerin based)

I purchased this body lotion because I believe I have mild eczema. Eucerin was recommended because it contains Urea. If your skin is chronically dry or itchy or you have eczema, your skin probably lacks the urea that normal skin has. My skin is always itchy and dry, especially on my legs. This lotion has worked pretty well so far – I haven’t noticed a dramatic difference, but it does what a lotion does!

So the weather in SoCal has been brutal this month; very low (10%-ish) humidity, but also very cold so we’re running the heater which means it’s even drier. My skin has not been handling it well, and while I can slather essence, and serum, and humectants galore on my face, I can’t really do that on my body. In addition to the general itchy, flakey, dryness that covers my body I’ve developed weird dry, scaly patches and of course I have itched my legs bloody because I can’t not. Anyway, I switched to using a low pH cleanser on my body and started slathering this on after every shower. For those of you wondering, yes it’s different from the classic Healing Creme. This contains humectants, fatty alcohols, and exfoliants in addition to occlusives. Neither are bad products, and it really just depends on which your skin needs; since my skin was super itchy in addition to being dry this is the one I picked. And it definitely worked on my dry, itchy skin. The scabs on my legs from itching myself half to death are finally able to heal because I’m not constantly opening them up. Weird dry patches? Gone. And for the first time in almost 6 weeks I can go a full 24 hours w/o needing to slather myself in oil or lotion everything 8-12 hours. It’s not fancy, doesn’t smell fruity, and is generally just boring, but my skin is so much better for having used it. Definitely will repurchase.
