   This foundation is definately long wearing and provides very good coverage. I barely needed concealer with it. It looked fine after 8 hours, I didn’t have the caking issues others mention. It didn’t oxidize. It didn’t settle into fine lines. It looked okay after a full day of wearing it. It felt ok. It’s just not very pleasurable to apply.

   I have normal skin, not dry, but not oily at all. I’m thinking it might be better for people with oily or combination skin. I dabbed on a very small amount over my sunscreen and used a damp sponge, and it took a long time to get even coverage. I know the company recommends a brush, but I don’t like using brushes for foundation. A very small amount went a long way, but it took some work. The formula feels heavy, especially when you are working with it, but after some time, I had it looking even and smooth, and I set it with the Hourglass Veil powder. It didn’t look bad, but it looked like I had makeup up, that’s for sure. Once it dried down, it looked more natural. And I’m impressed with the wear time. Probably it would perform better for me over a heavier moisturizer, or mixed with moisturizer, or mixed with one of those luminizing cream or lotion products.

   All of the above considered, I think for the price, and for a lot less, there are comparable or easier to work with foundations out there. That being said, if you want to spend the money, like very full coverage, and don’t mind the extra effort in blending it out, this might work for you. I don’t think I will be repurchasing, and definately will not be wearing this one every day.

   This is probably the worst foundation I have ever used.

   I tried it out in store with my friend at Harvey Nichols, and we were so impressed with how smooth this looks. OK fine – I only tried it out on the back of my hand (I wasn’t going to ruin my makeup that day). My friend was the one who had it applied to her face as she wasn’t wearing any makeup that day.

   Anyway, I was so impressed with how smooth and skin-like the foundation looked on the back of my hand (in comparison to other foundations I actually like) that I bought it on the spot, together with their foundation brush just like their mua recommended. £108 or so…

   I followed the instructions and only used half a pump. Hourglass were right about that. The foundation is extremely full coverage (even though in store, they will like to sell it to you as a natural finish – it isn’t) and spreads far. I didn’t even finish that 0.5 pump both times I applied, it’s that full coverage. Sadly, this is the only positive thing (if you like full coverage foundations).

   The foundation begins to cake on your face quite quickly. I’m talking, whilst you’re still applying the rest of your makeup (and it only takes me 20 minutes to apply mine). Your face starts to look really oily (even if you set with powder) and the foundation just starts to break apart and cake up. If you decide to go about your day anyway, you’ll look like an oil slick within the hour like I did. This upsets me even more, because the foundation is so expensive (for delivering absolutely nothing) and it’s less than the standard 30ml/1oz!!

   I’m really not sure who this foundation is for as even people with dry skin have complained about this foundation. Oddly, ever since this foundation launched, Hourglass have stopped campaigning it on Instagram…… Yeah – sadly – I have to throw this out.

   For reference, I am N110 in Cover FX, 4.25/4.3 in Smashbox Studio Skin, 450/445 in Fenty Beauty, 06W in Guerlain Lingerie de Peau, Deep Spice in Estee Lauder DW, Dark 3 in NARS Sheer Glow.

   Hourglass has just launched in Poland and I was invited to one of their events in my local Sephora. A lovely rep demonstrated this foundation for me and although I was looking for the Immaculate one, I was talked into buing the Vanish. I bought into the hype and now I regret it. Here’s why:

   Not for dry skin, because it makes it look like paper, accentuates dry patches, deepens my lines and gives a horrible chalky finish.

   Not for oily skin because it completely slid off my moderately oily nose in two hours! Shocking, isn’t it?

   Not for normal skin because I didn’t even know I had such dramatically visible pores and lines, even on my forehead!

   …And you only need a very tiny amount. And this tiny amount looks like a mask on your face.

   Pros: didn’t break me out. Shade: alabaster looks good on me (but only if you look from afar)…
   Dear Hourglass, discontinue this ASAP and invent some better formula, please.

   In the store I thought I had found a wonderful foundation. Sadly when using it a home the product turned out badly for me. It separated on the skin after a short time and gave a horrible finish. It is also very expensive so it was such a bad purchase

   I’d like to start by saying my high scoring is not for Hourglass the company, I am in the UK and struggle to find stores that sell this near me, Hourglass told me to visit a John Lewis store but it turns out they only it sell online so I had a wasted trip. I ended up going to Leeds Harvey Nichols and the consultant there matched me up to Ivory, I felt it was dark so asked for a sample and it’s a good thing I did as I ended up looking orange! I sourced my own shade in the end which is Bisque, 6 shades lighter than Ivory. I have fair skin with olive undertones and it’s absolutely the perfect shade for me.
   I found the consistency quite thick but yet it spread very easily across my skin, half a pump was definitely enough for full coverage. I’ve watched reviews online and the ladies are caking it on and I think it looks unnatural and mask like when I’ve seen these reviews, it almost put me off wanting to buy it in fact.
   I don’t set it with any powder, my oily, ageing skin doesn’t need it with this foundation. I think it leaves my skin with a subtle realistic glow, never oily, and it makes my skin look perfected.
   It lasts a full 8-9 hours on my skin before breaking up.
   I truly adore this foundation, when I was matched up to the wrong shade I hated it, even trying to imagine it in the correct shade didn’t make me like it at first, so I would advise that you must get the correct colour for this foundation, because even if it’s only a little bit off you will hate it because this formula is very unforgiving if not an exact skin tone match.
   For reference I am between Warm Sand and Beige in all Bobbi Brown foundations. And I am between 015 and 021 in Dior Undercover and Forever Glow.
   This foundation by Hourglass is my ultimate holy grail.

   I have been considering this for several weeks. I usually love Hourglass, however, on my mature dry skin this was a disaster and I am returning it unopened. The Sephora person applied this to my lower face with a brush. For one, the color match was off, and with all the shades offered (32) that was amazing that there was not a better match. By the time I arrived home in about an hour, this foundation had settled in every port and wrinkle. It looks very much lighter than when it was applied. I verified with the sales person that this was full coverage and that it is very concentrated, therefore, he used very little. but it was a disaster. For 56$ I will be returning it as I will never use it.

   My friend received the entire color range in PR, so I got to try this foundation. So, it’s $56 and for that price, you basically have to work your a$$ off to blend this stuff in order to look semi presentable to leave the house. I have clear skin with no dry patches. But I do have fairly large pores on my cheeks and nose and my god, was I made aware of them with this foundation! It truly sunk in like I’ve never seen before! I wanted to end this review with all the work involved with blending this foundation because it dries down really fast. Why pay $56 for something that you have to work so hard to make look somewhat ok and then, well, it really doesn’t. No thank you. I don’t care that this company is vegan, etc. What good is it, if the product sucks, takes more than 15 minutes to blend, and costs more than three times the amount of a good drugstore foundation?

   anyway, if you do buy this foundation, either try the colors in the store first – or go a shade lighter, because the swatches online, are not an accurate representation of the colors. Also, the colors differ greatly from the rest of their foundation line. For ex. I wear “buff” in their immaculate powder foundation, and stick, but buff in this formula is very orange. I ended up mixing blanc and bisque to get my shade right.

    First of all, be warned if you have dry skin, this foundation really works best for those with oilier skin. Secondly, as many have said before, this is a very full coverage foundation. A pea size amount of this foundation is all you will need to cover your entire face. Starting out with a small amount, working in sections, and moisturizing your skin before applying will all help. I found that applying this with a brush ended up highlighting dry areas. I ended up figuring out that applying this with a lightly damp beauty blender or makeup sponge was the way to go. The best way to use the foundation was by dabbing it on with little “bounces” one area at a time was the only way I could apply this without accentuating dry areas. I do like that this is fragrance free, but I found this to be a very fussy foundation. My video review & how to use can be seen here:
