   This little four dollar gem has actually become my favorite (and most reached-for) foundation. Just to give you a little background for comparison sake, I typically go for light, natural coverage. Most often, I use a tiny bit of Bare Minerals Original Foundation, or some type of light BB Cream. I ran out of foundation and I was in between paydays so I picked this up at Family Dollar…And now I keep coming back to it. I can’t stop using it. The coverage is light so if you prefer full coverage or a flawless finish, you may want to skip this one. I am 43 years old with moderately dry skin, and softer, lighter formulas tend to look the best on me. The coverage is about the same as a tinted moisturizer. It evens out my skin tone with maybe slightly less coverage than Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue — for about twenty-two dollars less. It looks like skin and leaves me with a fresh faced supple appearance. I don’t find this formula to be TOO glowy. I feel like L.A. Colors found the sweet spot with this foundation and it just looks very healthy and fresh. It wore beautifully all summer with a little bronzer and peachy blush. Now that it’s colder, I’ve been wearing it with a berry toned blush and I just love it. For four dollars, it was a steal and I am on my second bottle. Honestly, the price is just the icing on the cake for me. I’d buy this if it cost forty bucks. And it’s cruelty free!

   I am NC 20 in MAC and I use Fairly Light in Bare Minerals Original. Ivory is the shade I am using right now in the L.A. Colors foundation, and I used one shade darker over the summer. There are thirteen shades offered in all.

   The formula is so lightweight that I *think* using a Beauty Blender might dab it away to nothing-ness. I use an old Elf foundation brush to blend it in, and I think any dense foundation brush would work just fine.

   There is no sunscreen in this. Not an issue for me because I slather on a separate sunscreen every day, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re looking for an alternative to Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue or some other BB Cream. I’m also willing to bet that the ingredients in this aren’t as alluring as Bare Minerals, but luckily my skin isn’t all that sensitive and my pocketbook loves the twenty-two dollar difference.

   The only other caveat I’ll mention is that no matter how lightly you press on the pump of this foundation, a huge glob comes out — which is great if you want full coverage, but I just use a few dots so product gets wiped away and wasted. It’s a little annoying, but I’m willing to overlook it because I really do love this formula.

   I will definitely repurchase.

   I adore this foundation. It’s my current go-to. I love it more than their Truly Matte foundation. I have super oily skin but contrary to popular belief matte foundations don’t always look good for my skin type. Despite being super oily I have the texture of someone with dry skin. I have lots of flaking, blotchy, and just very bumpy skin. Matte foundations tend to look very cakey on me.
   This foundation on the other hand goes on so natural looking. It’s got a satin/dewy finish and looks very smooth on my skin. It’s also lightweight. Coverage is light to medium but if I use 2 pumps I get full coverage. It’s very buildable. I set mine with powder just for longer wear. I use the shade ‘Light Tan’ and it’s a nice fit for my yellow undertones. I tried the shade ‘Medium Tan’ but it was a little too pink. The shade range is just as bad as their Truly Matte ones. There’s not enough shades. I will never understand why they can’t add a full range of shades to fit everyone.
   Nevertheless you can try mixing and matching. I love how affordable it is and I’ll definitely repurchase.
