I tried a sample of this, and wow, it has light to medium coverage – zero help on any redness around nose or acne scaring. That said – it is ok if that is the kind of coverage you are looking for. It does stay put and the shades are almost skin-like – but they either have too much pink or too much beige. I would have to mix this foundation to get a good match.

Love this. The colour I just blindly went for online 1w2 and it is so flattering. Coverage is good, lasts all day without creasing or fading. Better than the original- especially the shade range, the old one was terrible. Would buy again.

I have been using the old version for years and unfortunately it got reformulated to this….I have combination dry sensitive skin and i found this new version very drying….it also has a much thicker texture which is hard to spread…the finish is also much more matte than the older version. i tried to mix it with some serum or oil, still doesn’t help….will not use again.

The canvas I’m working with: 40, combo skin with hormonal acne, mostly, but not entirely under control, some texture and a tendency towards dehydration. Slightly oily/normal in the summer, normal/dry in the winter. My skin has been quite good by my standards for the last year or so, but I do have a bit of flakiness on the nose going on pretty much constantly, in spite of regular exfoliation, large pores on the nose, sometimes acne and things like that. No wrinkles, yet.
A note on shades and formulation: this is definitely the new, reformulated Double Wear Light. I have never tried the old one, so I can’t compare formulas, but I am curious about that.
I have it in shade 1W2, the lightest warm shade that was available where I got it, which is a decent match. I wear 1W1 Bone in the original Double Wear, and both shades are alright on me, but not perfect. 1W1 is a tiny bit on the light side, this one will probably be a bit dark in a month or two. All Estée Lauder shades have a bit too much colour for me. I have olive undertones, my best foundation matches are slightly less saturated, more grey, and these very easily look orange on me because of that. The shades are quite saturated, and many of them have strong peachy undertones, even the N shades. Regular Double Wear 1N2 Ecru is quite orange on me, for instance. The yellow W undertones work much better, but can look a bit too yellow.
Ideally, I want a foundation that covers my occasional breakouts, doesn’t emphasise flakes too much, doesn’t produce polkadot pores, adheres well to my nose – that’s often a problem for me – and looks at least somewhat skinlike. Creasing generally isn’t a problem for me, but caking and separation sometimes is. I got this a while back because I wanted more of an evening/going out sort of foundation that would give more coverage and a less transparent, more perfected and “done” sort of finish than the Pixi H2O Skin Tint. I really love that one, and MAC Face & Body, but they do not give a lot of coverage. Long wear would be nice, too.
I have the original Estée Lauder Double Wear and wear it occasionally, but I find it very unforgiving on my texture and prone to caking up on me, so I always mix it with lighter foundations, like the aforementioned MAC F&B or the Pixi tint. This sounded like it might have something like the longevity of the original Double Wear with a smoother, more skinlike sort of look. It does pretty much that, I find, and I do like it a lot more than the original Double Wear, but I don’t love the finish the way I love the finish of the Pixi tint, for instance. It looks good and wears very well, but it does look like make-up.
I don’t really reach for this when doing evening make-up. I reach for this when I want a bit more coverage and/or longevity than the Pixi tint or MAC F&B on an everyday basis. I can apply this very fast with my fingers before work in the morning, straight on top of sunscreen, set it with a tiny bit of powder and count on it for at least 12 hours, usually more. I took this off after 16 hours yesterday night, and it looked fine, really. It was creasing a little around my nose by then and had worn off a little, but most of it was still present on my face and looked perfectly nice. Not very shiny, not cakey, not patchy, not separating in the slightest. It really does wear extremely well on my skin. Unlike the regular Double Wear and most other foundations under the sun, it doesn’t settle very much in the pores on my nose, and it’s really not bad at all on the flaky bits either. Fast and easy application, decent coverage, looks a bit more like make-up than I like, but wears reliably well? This is a very good everyday foundation for me. It’s not a mind-blowingly beautiful evening foundation, but I like it and wear it.

Love the new formula! Covers imperfections without creasing. My new HG foundation after years of using Double Wear!

I’ve only tried a few of the Estee Lauder foundations so when they released a new version of their Double Wear Light Soft Matte Hydra Makeup I decided to give it a try, and I was not disappointed at all. The Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Soft Matte Hydra Makeup is light to medium coverage and sets to a nice matte finish. This does not settle into fine lines or crease at all and it lasts all day without looking greasy or fading. I love that this is fragrance free. This layers well on top of sunscreen or primers and does not pill. I do wish this had SPF but I haven’t had any issues wearing this over any of my favorite sunscreens. The other nice thing is that this is available in many different shades so I was able to find an exact color match. My video review can be seen here: 4
