I’m not sure how I feel about this lipstick. I have light, neutral to cool olive skin and in some lights this color really works and other lighting it gives me floating lips. It looks like a nice muted, mauve nude in the tube, but on the lips it comes off a coral nude. I’d definitely say this is not a winter color since it comes across so bright on my light skin. It dries down fast and I can always feel the matte-ness on my lips. Like another review said, it never really sinks into my lips and it looks like there is a visible layer of product. It is opaque and goes really smooth. It’s easy to get a crisp line around the edges. No lip liner needed! It does last more than I thought it would. I had a cup of coffee and banana without it fading. The longer it stays on, the drier it looks an feels. Overall, this lipstick is way over priced. The packaging is great with the vintage, gold metal tube and magnetic closure. It feels significant and expensive in my hand. The price is wrapped up in the packaging and the product could use some improvement. I’m glad I got more than 50% off this product or I would be returning it.

These lipsticks are expensive at $79.00 Australian. I have 3 and will be getting a 4th on my next pay day. They are simply the best I have ever bought, I have all the high end and low end lipsticks and have never repurchased any, other than Dior Sicily which was a great red. Black Tie is even better.
These lipsticks last like a two pack they fade beautifully and are a pleasure to apply and to wear.
The colour of this lipstick is an apricot toned beige and doesn’t look that great on me, which is the only reason I will not buy it again. (Update: I purchased a beige/light brown lip liner which softens the apricot tone and changes this lipstick to a lovely beige).
I bought this online and was expecting it to be a more brown/tanned beige toned colour. It does slightly change colour on me after 10 minutes and turns into a more pinkish beige.
Because of the poor representation of the colour and lack of adequate description online I reduced my overall rating by one. I also reduced a point for the cost which is extraordinary, but still I have 2 other LQ Velvet Rope lipsticks in Private Party and Black Tie and they are both gorgeous colours.
I have many LQ lipsticks from a few of the different lines and find I need to make little labels to help me find the specific colour I am after, as the writing (particularly on the base of the Sinner and Saint) range is tiny. It would be very helpful to have a colour coded labels on the base to address this. Imagine being a loyal customer and finding the more products you have from a range means it is harder to use.
This lipstick takes about 10 minutes to settle on the lips and it then feels like a light veil of satin.
I have found that I can use LQ Hello Sailor to give a different tone to its look.
This line of lipstick lasts longer than any other lipstick I have ever had. With lip liner it makes it through the day… if I skip lunch… and leaves a nicely faded colour on my lips.
It is unfortunate that there are only 5 colours in this line, they are all unique and striking. I think given the expense of these lipsticks for online shoppers it would be great to have one or two in fairly ‘safe’ colours such as rose. That would allow for buyers to try the line with less risk of a flop…
This lipstick is very expensive at $79 Australian on Mecca.com . If you can’t afford the Velvet Rope lipstick, the LQ Sinner range is an exceptional semi matte line that is about half the price and is lasting and comfortable to wear, with a larger range of stunning colours.

This shade won’t work for everyone. That said, if you have that difficult-to-find-the-right-lipstick kind of coloring like me, you owe it to yourself to check this out. I have been called peaches and cream my entire life; and all it really means is that despite what experts say, there is no red shade for me. This subtle, creamy, peachy nude is beautiful on me. The $50 price tag is outrageous, but I slept on it for a week and couldn’t get it out of my mind. I’ll be buying another one for when they inevitably discontinue this gorgeous color.

I spotted this one day at Ulta and the tester was just opened so I decided to try it on. This was an unflattering peachy pink on me. The texture was nice and went on evenly. However I do not think it is worth $50 USD. I would like try more lipsticks from Lipstick Queen in the near future. I will not purchase.

Star System is described as “the ultimate nude.” The packaging of this wildly overpriced lipstick is gorgeous. The squat gold case has magnetic clasp action that keeps the lid on the tube. There’s a pleasing heft in the hand. The color of the stick is lovely, a warm pinky tan. The lipstick feels buttery gliding on, with a pleasantly spare, non-sweet minty scent that disappears after about 20 minutes of wear. The color glides on with no tug and the thinnest layer provides a surprising opacity: excellent color payoff. My beef is with the color itself. The tan hue in the tube doesn’t appear at all on the lips. All I see after application is the palest baby pink, like the sort of Hello-Kitty-type training-bra lipsticks and glosses you see at Walmart. It looks cheap and ridiculous on my light olive skin. It appears to sit on the surface rather than melting into my lips. I imagine a very pale woman could pull this color off, but someone with more warmth to her skin, like me, needs a warmer nude to complement the golden brown tones of human skin. YMMV, of course. If you love frosty, cool, icy-pink lipsticks, this could be your luxury go-to. I’d still be willing to try the other colors because the packaging and texture of the lipstick are so nice. I still think it’s overpriced, considering such packaging is used on a larger scale for perfumes and the cost is the same.
