I love this and never want to be without it. I wear it the way most would wear a strong red lip (because 99% of reds looks terrible on my yellow/olive skin).
It’s such a GORGEOUS color!
This color in particular seems to have a lot of traction with Asian women and I think I understand why. I’m half Indian and it’s really hard to find good lippie colors. Mauves seem to work best and I guess that’s because we have yellow and golden undertones and purple is opposite on the color wheel. So purple-y pinks really pop. This color isn’t a true mauve, it’s more of a fuchsia but there is *just* enough purple in there to anchor it so the pink and red aspects don’t overwhelm yellow/olive skin tones. Other good points are that it is a neutral color- not especially warm or cool. And the best part? It’s so buildable! A tiny swipe goes a long way and you’ll have a nice berry stain for daytime. But if you line your lips and apply several layers, you’ll get a really finished statement lip that’s very pigmented and bright in a gorgeous, unique color.

This shade is a beautiful plum color that I wear in the fall and winter. I don’t normally wear bright or dark lipstick but this color is absolutely irresistible. It has the perfect balance of purple and would be flattering on anyone. This is as “vampy” as I get these days. I don’t wear this shade often, but I have a few clothing items that definitely call for a purplish lip and this is what I wear. I’ve found that after several hours, the color can migrate into fine lines but I’ve solved this problem with the Urban Decay Ozone clear lip pencil used beforehand. This process gives me budgeproof color that lasts for quite some time, despite the fact that I lick my lips constantly (a habit I’ve not been able to stem). I only wish it didn’t have to be sharpened, which wastes precious product and is often inconvenient. But that is my only complaint. This color is gorgeous, really saturated and pigmented, as are all Nars Velvet lip pencils. My all time favorite and most worn shade is Bettina, a pinky beige. But I love Never Say Never for the cooler months. It’s absolutely beautiful and anyone can wear it.

This shade needs a lot more love – a gorgeous bright (but not overly) rose pink. I love these pencils apart from the crappy cap. Used over something like MAC Prep and Prime this will last 5 – 6 hours.
Rated 5 out of 5 by skack407 from Perfect dress I bought these for my husband. We’ve been into artificial colours over the years and my son loves the pink back of them, the pink key on top, and the classic old brown pullover color. Love these. I also put the brown shoes here for their most natural looks. I love how they grow as you wear them, like peeking through reds when I do the bareting they had.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Birri00l from Love them Love them were a little hard to take for a 50% off in stores – because they seemed like such a big deal. The flowers are missing.

Have to say NARS makes THE worst lipsticks/pencils ever and this is no exception. Thought I would try it because it’s such a pretty color and I thought it would live up to it’s name and provide a velvety smooth finish. Instead, like other NARS lip products, it’s hard and waxy and you really need to press hard to get any pigment on your lips. What a waste, will steer clear of NARS.

I have olive skin which can range from sallow to deep-tan depending on how much sun I get. I had been searching for a matte, sheer lip colour in the berry-to-wine range.
I went to the Nars counter at Selfridges and tried on Damned but it didn’t suit my skin tone, I couldn’t really say why. I described what I was after to the woman working behind the counter, who said matte and sheer can’t happen, as “sheer” technically has some shine to it, so she came back with Never Say Never. I wouldn’t say it’s “wine” at all, it’s more of a berry shade that’s closer to fuchsia/pink, but it was exactly what I needed for my skin tone. I am very happy with my purchase and I think so long as it works for your skin tone you can wear this colour year round.

I have several of the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils (Bettina, Sex Machine, Dragon Girl . .) and love them all. Never Say Never and Sex Machine are my favourites though.
This one is perfect on my yellow-toned NC20 skin for every day wear, special occasions and anything in between. A bit pricey but lasts me a long time, I go through about 2-3 a year. I love the formula, because it doesn’t slide outside the lips and isn’t as creamy/wet as lipstick, while enhancing the lips and making them look more full. Never have any issues with this getting on teeth either (like some lipsticks can . .) It wears well for hours and wears off evenly. Non-drying. Can be used as a sheer stain or applied all over for more colour. I wear this all year, any season. I would recommend this or any of the NARS Velvet Matte pencils to anyone!

I really like the color of this pencil, which is a purply-pink shade that is easily build able. It does dry my lips out a lot, so I usually wear it with a balm underneath or sometimes gloss on top. Its staying power is so-so, if I don’t eat or drink anything it can last an hour or two. I rated the packaging down because the cap pops off constantly, and also the letters rubbed off after awhile, but that part isn’t really a bid deal. Overall, I would probably buy it again just because I love the color and the pencil seems to last forever.

I loved the look of this lip pencil based on online photos, so I tracked it down at Nordstrom. It’s definitely cool toned and I wouldn’t call it rosy. It’s more of a mauvey pink that leans slightly purple. I’m warm-toned and it looked fine on me, but I think it’s more suited as a spring/summer lipcolor as opposed to a fall/winter shade. I ended up leaving with Nars Damned, but would definitely revisit Never Say Never when I’m looking for something brighter.

I LOVE this product! It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. With my pale skin and full lips, I wanted a nice rosy pink shade for summer that I could wear day and night. I’m also a big fan of matte lip color so this was just perfect! At about $25 it’s a little expensive. But it’s the first makeup splurge I’ve ever made and I have absolutely no regrets! Ill definitely be buying more 🙂

I really like this product. It is very easy to apply and doesn’t dry out my lips at all. It’s not long lasting but that’s okay. The color is really flattering for my NC 44 skin. On me, it looks rosy pink. It’s perfect for a work day since it;s quite neutral but it would also be nice for the evening.
It’s a little expensive so I’m not sure if I will purchase again since I don’t think it’s a must have.
