I’ve been using this shade since it came out 15 years ago! Such a pretty warm nude with brown/peach undertones. I actually don’t like the topcoat (it’s kind of slick and slimy) so I just use the color. Without the topcoat, this looks like a matte lipstick. It’s easy to apply (wipe the wand off on the bottle before applying for an even coat) and you can outline your lips with it too, so no need for liner.
While my lips do feel slightly dry with this on, it’s not horrible. Sometimes I’ll use a lip balm over it, even though that shortens the wear time. It’s still a pretty long lasting lip color, and very pretty! Great for warm toned complexions.

I think the packaging has changed since the earlier reviews but I have to say- I have been using this for so many years. I just keep repeating. I occasionally try another color but I love this canyon. It is definite color but not jarring or extreme looking. It does last many hours. I don’t use the balm cover and wish I could just buy the lipcolor by itself.
Covergirl outlast is the best lipcolor. It is not drying and really does not come off on your coffee cup. It dries in a minute or so after applicaton. LOVE IT>

I really love the color!!! I’m a NC30 and on me it is the perfect reddish nude. Its enough color that I look nice but not too bright. BUT I hate the formulation. After a few hrs this starts peeling off and I can’t even think of applying another coat over it coz it balls up on the lips. The last time I wore it I remember literally rubbing my fingers over my lips to get it off coz it was getting “crusty” I wish they made this like the Maybelline 24hr coz that does not peel off at all and feels comfortable on the lips for the whole day.
I may use this when I go out for dinner but definitely not for the day. Sad coz I REALLY love the color.

Outlast in Canyon is #626, which is what I’m reviewing. Apparently they changed the formulation in…2007? Anyway, it’s 2013 and I love this color but the packaging doesn’t look anything like that blue package pictured above. Hmm.
It gets a 3 on EWG which isn’t bad — as long as you don’t use the clear stuff over it. (The clear gloss gets a 5 from EWG, and is nothing special. You can sub any gloss.) This color is almost an exact dupe of Dior’s Rouge Dior in Nude (618)! Which I found out accidentally after buying the latter during a makeover and finding I already had that color in outlast at home. So what I do is wear the Dior, which is long lasting and moisturizing, over the outlast for that very slightly more lipsticky look and shimmer, while the colorstay makes the color last. Outlast is plenty good by itself, and I’d have skipped buying the dior if I’d realized.
As at least one other reviewer said, Canyon is a good nude for redheads (i’m auburn/red-brown) — with character — and soft enough for day use. Edit: I have to up it to 5 lippies because it is my go-to shade, and I haven’t been able to replace it with anything more organic.

Of my scads of lipsticks, Canyon is always heavily in rotation for 2 reasons: (1) A no-transfer lippie is often a must for hanging out with my 3-year-old and sharing kisses; (2) I adore the color! I am a pale, warm-toned redhead and this is a no-brainer shade that always looks good on me, even without other makeup. Soft, pretty, warm peach-brown with no muddy or ashy undertones. Deep enough to add some drama, soft enough to not scream “Makeup!” I actually love it best worn without the gloss topcoat, as it gives a lovely velvet-matte look that seems to go with this sort of warm, earthy color.
I, too, don’t understand the references to “red” in describing this shade; perhaps “red” means “not nude,” and that’s true, this is not a pale nude, it’s warm and rich (but not dark). I would call it “soft sienna” or “rich spice.” For me, it’s “ideal.”

Canyon is a shade I tried and did not like. I would describe it as a deep coral brown shade. It is very drab, just wasn’t flattering on me. I was looking for a pretty pink peach medium toned matte shade and Lingering Spice is what I found instead of this shade.

I find it ironic that people want to see red in this shade on their lips. I bought it because a few reviews stated brick red, warm red, and neutral red. There is NO RED in this! If you wrote a review and think I’m wrong, put on the lipstick and ask a man what color your lips are. He won’t say red, he’ll say brown because it is a tawny brown shade. If you want to see red in it, you still will, but others won’t if that is what look you are going for. I’ll admit that there is a teensy undertones, but the shade is brown like a canyon. It doesn’t look bad, but it wasn’t what I was expecting after checking Productville first. If you are shopping here first and want a reddish shade similiar to this, try Wine to 5.

Just wore this lipstick again for the first time in a while. I’m reminded of how perfect this colour is on me. Just a bit deeper warm red than my natural lip colour. I hope they never discontinue this one. I’ve even converted my best friend to this shade. My Outlast lipsticks are saved for those days where my lipstick must absolutely last, and Canyon doesn’t look as strange when it’s starting to wear off in the middle.

I adore Outlast lipsticks. They stay forever, don’t dry my lips (provided I use the gloss topcoat regularly), and I never have to think about my lips – they alway look great. Canyon is my favourite “natural-looking” colour when I’m wearing oranges, browns or rusts. When applied lightly it’s the perfect “my lips but better” shade! Love it! Sadly, it’s a shade not available in Switzerland, but thanks to MUA swapping I have no fear of ever running out….

I thought this color was OK, but a tad too many orange undertones. That is just something I don’t prefer. It’s a medium brick-red color. Just didn’t suit me.
