I have these in number three (glamour. Has it’s own review), two (Power), One (History), and Four (Seduction).
They’re all sheer and easy to apply, and none of them have a distinct scent.
Two – Power – is an orange, slightly bricky, red. It’s very easy to wear, and probably my favourite of the 4 I own.
One – History – is a more classic apple red. Great for summer.
Four – Seduction – is a purpley brown. A great autumn colour, much easier to wear than some of the more highly pigmented 90s inspired browns that are around at the moment.
They’re not easy to find here in NZ, and I’m glad I chanced upon them. If there are any other kiwis reading this, try your local Postie+ store… that’s the only place I’ve seen them, but they were on sale when I did!

On a total whim I went to the US Boots site the other day. Sometimes discontinued items are deeply discounted, and shipping is free for purchases over $25. I poked around in the sale area and LO! The Poppy King range of lipsticks and glosses are there for $4! I have one LQ Saint (Rouge), Medieval (not a huge fan) and Sigh. I like sheer lipsticks because my lips are small and lined and sadly realized that cream and matte textures just make my lips look more dry and lined.
Anyway, I decided to get some of these, and I am so happy I did. I got History (a sheer neutral pinkish red), Power (a neutral raspberry), and as a gift for a friend, Intrigue (a sheer brown pink). I am not usually a sucker for packaging but the polka dot boxes are so cute! The lipstick tube is a pretty lavender metal, and more compact that a regular lipstick, though the lipstick itself is slightly less than the standard.
This formula seems to me to be very similar to the Saint range of her products. They are sheer, slightly glossy, have no shimmer, and best of all: NO FRAGRANCE. They aren’t the longest lasting lipsticks, nor the most pigmented. They do last longer than I thought they would: I had a cup of coffee and an apple and a film of the History remained on my lips. You can pay a LOT more money to have lipstick that has less wear time than these.
What I like about these lipsticks–the simple packaging, the sheer, slightly glossy finish, the lack of fragrance–other people may not like, so I know my rating of 5 is subjective. But these are such a bargain now! You can pay as much or more for simple lip balm that doesn’t perform as well, and isn’t as pretty. I think I need to buy backups, and I might add Seduction and Glamour to boot. Maybe just buy a ton and give them to my friends. I am very happy with this purchase.
