More than 10 years ago I got a sample of Estee Lauder 03 Crystal Pink lipstick in a set and I loved the mauve rosy colour with subtle shimmer on me. The only reason I never purchased the Lipstick is that it was quite drying. I have read recently someone here saying that the colour is similar to MAC Lustre Sweetie, so I went to the MAC store and I tried this on. The colour is a gorgeous rosy mauve and very flattering on me. It has a bit more blue than Crystal Pink and also the shimmer is more evident as it is silver whereas in CP is more rose.
The problem is that at my age my lips aren’t plump and smooth anymore and the shimmer tends to highlights all the lines and the cracks on the lips letting them look dry even if the lipstick is actually quite moisturizing. I also don’t have any problems with the lasting power as it is more or less like every other sheer lipstick or gloss on me.
Anyway, I quite like Sweetie as I think that it brightens up my face, but I have to apply it on very moisturized lips and keep them always very moisturized – and even then it still look a bit too dry, which is a bit too high maintenance for my liking.
The weird thing about it is that this is one of the few lipsticks I could wear without need of contouring my lips. I can not figure out why, but it is a good thing. It may be the very natural colour that looks like MLBB.
Just a small note at the end, I have seen that Estee Lauder changed the formula of the Crystal Lipsticks and they are now very emollient and moisturizing. The reason why I didn’t buy it though is that I liked Sweetie a little bit more and, of course, the price – but I may do one day soon, be only for the gorgeous packaging before they discontinue it.

Me: NW10-ish, dark hair, dark eyes, rather dry, pale lips (roughly the color of UDxGwen Stefani’s Ex-Girlfriend)
Sweetie was my first lipstick ever, and even though I have matured and my lipstick taste has evolved, I keep coming back to this one. I might forget about Sweetie for a while, but each time it catches my eye between all my other lipstick, I become obsessed with it for a while.
I’m afraid my color-describing abilities are very limited, but previous reviewers have described Sweetie pretty well. For me it’s a very modest everyday shade that goes with literally every look. It’s very similar to MAC’s Syrup, which has more purple to it. Swatched on my hand, the two look identical, but there’s a slight difference on my lips.
Pigmentation is great, one swipe is enough for a daytime look, but you can always build it up if you want to. It’s not moisturising but doesn’t dry out my lips either.
The price is alright- it’s MAC. Apropos MAC, I’m over the packaging. To me it just looks like either a tampon (or one of those 2,99 € gas station restroom vending machine dildos). It’s very sturdy though and the cap has only now begun to get a little loose, and the lipstick’s almost empty.
My biggest problem is the lipstick’s lasting power. Without eating, it doesn’t last two full hours on me. With meals it sticks to bottles and glass, and the product on my inner lips disappears after eating (non-greasy food, that is!).
However, what’s left fades to a flattering, even and pinky stain.
Reapplying is easy though (if you don’t mind doing this multiple times throughout the day, which I don’t) since it requires neither brush nor mirror. A swipe straight from the tube and voilà.
I’d give Sweetie 5 lippies- alas, the lasting power prevents me from doing so.

The make up artist whom I had a consultation with recommended this color for me. It`s a lovely purply-rose, very moisturizing on my lips. The color stands out nicely against my fair skin, and it works great with strong eye make up. The only complaint I have is that it doesn`t stay put too long and needs constant reapplying. However, being so sheer it is easy to apply straight from the bullet.

I think it’s overrated, I did not like it, LIKE NOT AT ALL!

Don’t buy this if you are looking for anything more than a lipstick version of a nice gloss. This is exactly what I wanted, so it works though…a glossy, sheer lipstick. If you are looking for a lipstick to make a difference, this isn’t the one. Sweetie is a purple tinged pink shade, sheer and glossy (lustre finish). It actually reminds me of a more sheer glossy version of Hot Gossip. It is one of those uber neutral colors like Syrup or Patisserie on me, but does provide a bit more color than those two did on me. This is not the shade to buy if you want dramatic (bright or dark) color on your lips. I have very mauvey leaning brown toned lips and Sweetie is great when I want to soften up the look. Sweetie is not MLBB, it is a bit more, but hardly a “wow” color…more of a workhorse on me. It can work with both my summer and winter looks. One of the safest, no brainer shades I own. It sounds kind of boring, but it just works when other shades over complicate things, but you want more than lip balm. I was so “eh” about it at first, I almost returned it, but then I just kept grabbing it on running out the door days for a quick polish. Next thing you know we have been together for a few months. 🙂 FYI-I am NW20, deep soft winter, brown eyes, mauve lips.

I wanted a sheer pink lipstick, so I decided to try this lipstick out. MAC describes this as an “ultra sweet pink”, whatever that means.. First, I have really pigmented lips, and I know this is a Lustre finish, but I honestly couldn’t see anything on my lips, no color, no shine, no shimmer..nothing! I have a lot of MAC lipsticks that I have and love, but I was really disappointed in this shade. Unfortunately, I’m going to return this for something else.

Lovely pink, sheer shimmery shade, very natural and creamy, just wish it would stay put for longer!

I went to the nearest mac store and bought this lipstick today based off the reviews I read on here and on other sites so this was a blind buy for me but it was definitely worth it. I was looking for a lipstick that I could wear to work and school and for an everyday lipstick that wouldnt be too much because most of the l/s i own is a bit too loud to be worn everyday. I’m medium brown and I have pinkish lips already and this is definitely a MLBB lipstick because it’s nearly the same color as my lips it just gives them a little pink pop without being over the top and it matched my skintone perfectly. This is the kinda lipstick that works with just about every skin complexion out there. I love this lipstick and definitely will be wearing a lot.

I’m not really a lipstick person, but the closest Mac to me is a counter. Therefore I can only B2M for l/s. A yr or 2 ago I had quite a few empties so I looked online,YT for colors(every day shades pink, nude) that were Wove friendly. Sweetie was one of those colors. As soon as I told the sa it was the color I wanted, she said it would look good me,Nc45 & that its a pretty color. Sure thing,I luv this color on! I usually use it for my neutral lippie. I’ve worn it with pink Rimmel gloss,Galaxy rose Cremesheen…which is Gawjus! And whirl liner. For me its a nice pop of color. As long as I can B2M,this will be my choice.
