I bought Strange Love during a sale after trying Sugarpill’s other well known time-release lipstick, Trinket. The applicator tip shaped differently than the other lipsticks I have tried from this brand and I also noticed that the applicator was frayed. I suspect the tube was quite old due to it being a release for Valentine’s Day 2017 and it was on sale in July 2018. Due to age, I also suspect the formula might have been a bit iffy. Unlike Trinket, I found the formula in Strange Love to be chunky and dry. It had some sparkle as promised with the formula type, but Strange Love did not have a significant release of it like Trinket did. I also found that pressing my lips together, even gently, would remove some product. I cannot tell if this is because I have an old tube or if this is a formula issue. I absolutely adore the color, but I would only consider repurchasing if I could guarantee that I was getting a newer tube and that the lipstick removing itself was an age issue and not a formula one.

Strange Love was part of Sugarpill’s Fancy Feline Limited edition set which was released on Valentine’s Day 2017. Due to a high demand, they have released it as a permanent product.
This is my second Sugarpill lipstick I own. Colour is very pigmented, it shows some micro glitter as the product dries on lips. Applicator has a bushy doe foot style, so it is slightly tricky to apply in a straight line. I suppose practise makes perfect.
Always feeling excited whenever I’m applying this lipstick as it has a very nice, pleasant sweet scent of creamsicle. Not very strong or offensive to those who have sensitive nose.
Quite a unique shade. Perfect to add to your collection.

Strange Love was part of the Sugarpill Valentine’s Day “Feline Fancy” set. It is a oxblood red with red pearlescent shimmer. It looks quite dark against my NW10 skin tone, but in the sun it looks more reddish. The shimmer is less glittery and more of a sheen than anything else.
I have said in other reviews that I think the formula for Sugarpill’s liquid lipsticks changes depending on which shade you pick up. Strange Love’s formula is not as good as Trinket or Pumpkin Spice, although I still find it to be better than Kim Chi. It dries down quickly and doesn’t smear or bleed outside of the lip line. However it wears away quickly on the inner rim of the lips and feels more drying than the others. It can get a little chunky when layered, so it is better to remove it completely and begin again.
It has the same creamiscle scent as Trinket, which disappears almost immediately after application. I cannot comment on any potential skin irritants on the formula, but people with sensitive noses will probably be able to cope with the scent due to it only being temporary.
The applicator is nice – it is very similar to the Makeup Monsters applicator. it is doe foot style with a small dip in the middle of the foot that can hold a tiny pool of product (so you don’t need to dip it back into the tube to get enough). It doesn’t fray and you can get a crisp line with it. It is a standard size.
My only complaint about the packaging is that the logo on the tube wears away very quickly. I cover mine with clear nail polish to keep it looking new.
Overall this is a really nice colour but it is a bit difficult to wear. I still enjoy it but it is a little more high maintenance than Sugarpill’s other LLs.
