It’s the perfect neutral red, and it’s both vegan and all-natural (a tough combination to find). Most all-natural reds are made with carmine (which I avoid because the beetle origin is just too icky for me), and the ones I’ve found without carmine are just “off”—either the color is too pink, too purple, too orange, or too drying. As other folks have noted, this formula is long-lasting but also fades beautifully to an easy-to-wear stain. I keep trying other reds because I want a more exciting formula (specifically with a fragrance, as I like a little fruitiness or minty-ness), but I always come back to this.

Red lipstick and I have had a long and complicated past. We haven’t gotten along too well, until now. The shade, Starlet, is a nice, true red with subtle blue undertones–none of that orangey stuff that makes everyone look horrible but for whatever reason is in style. But what made me fall in love with it is the formula. Dark or bright colored lipsticks fade or rub off easily (or in the case of 24 hour lipsticks, flake off), leaving a ridiculous looking ring on my lips that stands out against my pale skin. This stuff though is like magic–it’ll fade, but in a perfect, still-attractive way. It’s hard to describe, but it’s a really nice feeling and looking product. Very moisturizing. And the best part is that it’s free of toxic and harsh ingredients!

This is one of my all times favourite lipsticks!
The color is red which appears on my very cool toned skin a cool blue-based red. Compared Guerlain Garconne it is less bright and slighly less blue. The lasting power is average it lasts about three to four hours on me. But let me tell you what this lipstick does for you: It gives the most healthy and natural red lipstick look which instantly freshens up the face. For more dramatic red lipstick you could try to reapply it or layer with another lipstick (I like to put Guerlain Garconne on top). Previous readers wrote that this lipstick is neither moistoizing nor drying. I have to disagree: To me these are wonderfully protecting my lips as opposed to Guerlain which start to slighly burn my lipsafter some time. I have initially ordered this lipstick as I wanted a non-toxic red lipstick. But this is much more than that. It is a beautyfull, lasting and moistorising lipstick to me.

I tried this on in Wholefoods today and loved it. I returned 10 minutes after leaving to store in order to purchase this lipstick.
It is a bright clear true matte red. On my lips it feels like baby powder (moist, kinda smooth). There’s no taste and no scent. Worn full strength, swiped straight from the tube, it is perfect for a night out. Blotting tones it down to a beautiful clear light red, perfect for daytime.
The tube is small and it was wrapped just like a Revlon lipstick which was easy to remove.

I love this lipstick, it’s my new favorite natural lipstick. I picked this up at WF’s for about $16.50 as well as the Vino De Amor. Starlet is a bright true red, super rich and very pigmented as well as very long lasting. You can get a really nice stain with this.
I have Honeybee’s and Hemp Organic lipstick also which are both really nice. I’ve been buying HB’s for years, which is really mosturizing like a lipstick/balm packed with color, which I love. I only wish Zuzu’s lipsticks were the size of the other two lipsticks, it’s a bit smaller. Still I will be buying this again as long as they make it. Best Lipstick I’ve ever purchased and it’s all natural!
~2011~ I’ve been buying this for 2 years now, every time I run out. A tube lasts about 4 months for me. This lipstick is a good as it gets..a tiny bit works well as a lip stain that last for many hours, with a balm on top. LOVE!!
