Not a nude or a red, so the name and marketing for this one can be confusing. This is a frosted neutral rose in my opinion. The frost elevates it from a typical MLBB shade to something more evening than office. It’s a nude for those who find most nudes too washed out and pale. I also see it as a good lipstick for those who are lipstick shy. It also goes with about any eyeshadow or blush look. This is a repurchase for me.

Yes, nude is subjective, but here it is just plain confusing. Described as being devoid of red but contains just about everything else. This color is complex and unique but familiar and seen before. Perhaps it has a 1960’s vibe from some now discontinued Avon, Charles of The Ritz or Max Factor lipstick. No judgements. This color has very subtle components of peach, bronze, pink add to that satin shimmer of gold, copper, platinum but all in equal parts so as be fair. Once applied your individual lip and skin tones will determine which tone prevails. For this I would repurchase.
When I opened the tube I was mortified with this color. My first thought was something I would have seen worn by one of the ladies at my parents yacht club circa 1967. Very Mrs. Robinson in The Graduate kind of color.
On me this is a opaque satin warm copper pink. I like it. In fact I like it a lot although it goes against all the things I value in lipstick. It isn’t dramatic but makes a statement. I religiously line my lips when wearing this. This is a color that no one would give a second look to but when I wear this I cannot stop looking at my lips in different light. In the house it morphs warm, in the car it is more pink at dinner in the restaurant it is coppery. Frustrating? No. Fascinating. Yes.

The packaging is beautiful. The color is “lips only better” with a sheen. I like that the product contains lanolin oil which helps my lips stay smooth. I like the silky feel and that it has no taste. I got this as part of a threesome set at a discount and I could not be more pleased with the quality. Coco Noir and Celeste were the other 2 in the set and they are both flattering (nw 20). Celeste is a subtle orange-clear and coco is a slightly brick red. Long lasting and for me not drying.

Nude is so subjective. This lipstick is the exact color of my lips – so maybe it’s not nude for some people, but for me, yeah, it works. Regardless – I’m not interested in semantics – I’m more interested in how it looks. Like I said, it’s the color of my lips, but it has a frost to it. Generally I find frost to be an abhorrent quality in a lipstick, reminding me of my first forays into cosmetics in middle school. *Shudder.* However, the shimmer on this is pretty subtle, and I will forgive it anything for what it does to my teeth. For herein lies the magic of this lipstick, and what makes me tote it around instead of any of the other 60 odd lip products I own: it makes me look like a toothpaste spokeswoman. When I wear it, my teeth look incredibly white. Other pluses: it wears really well, lasts for quite a while, never looks over applied, and doesn’t leave an awkward ring around the lips when it does. However, it is drying, which seems to go hand in hand with most long wearing lipsticks.

Not sure why the poor ratings for this, I loved it and find it very flattering (but definitely not a nude). It’s a nice neutral pink for everyday and has good staying power too. I bought the Thalia color for more intensity but always come back to Nude Noir.

I knew that this was not a “nude” lipstick when I purchased it, but this was a horrible pinky, browny, frosty mess. If this is a nude version of red, I’ll eat my hat. The smell of the lipstick was a turnoff and it was such a dry formula, I felt like I was coating my lips in frosty sandpaper. Yuck!!

This is NOT, I repeat NOT meant to be a Nude lipstick. It is meant to be the most Nude RED lipstick in Julie’s line. If you want a Nude lipstick, check out one of the 50 ones that MAC offers.
Rant over. I love this lipstick and it’s in my bag pretty much every day. It’s a bit drying but IMO, that gives it staying power. It’s not too frosty and it gives my lips a nice oomph without being too red.

I don’t know why this works for me when it hasn’t worked for others very well, but I adore it. I agree that when first applied it looks like a frosty 1970s Cover-girl throwback, but for some reason the frost quickly subsides on me and I’m left with a polished neutral lip. I love this for work, but the look is polished enough that it’s good for evening, also. I do use this with the lip pencil and that ratchets up the level of sophistication in my opinion. The lipstick itself is very good quality–applies nicely, not drying, doesn’t clump or gather in the corners of the lips, and wears off smoothly and evenly. Go, Julie, Go!
P.S. I ain’t no Suzie Newscaster–I’m a white collar mama with a really busy but low-profile life and no desire to please anyone with my makeup…except myself!

This was my first Julie Hewett product, which I bought after months and months of obsessing. I was really disappointed in the color – on my skin tone it was a really terrible frosty dark-pinkish/orange-brownish color. I knew it wouldn’t be a nude, but the frosty overtones were just terrible IMO.
I wanted sooo much to like it, but it didn’t work for me.
That being said, the lipliner was a fantastic color.
ETA: I finally pin-pointed how to describe this color: It’s something Suzie Newscaster would wear.

I bought this lipstick as a set with the nude lipliner from QVC. First, I tried Nude Noir on my lips without any liner. It appeared extremely frosty and to have a strong pink/mauve undertone (I do not have pigmented lips). With the lip liner, the shade is less mauve and less frosty but still not nude. I just don’t see much brown or any peach in it. I hate the fact it appears so frosty (NOT shimmery) on me. I am sending it back for a refund. I did love the lipliner–I might order it by itself.
