I so wanted to love this! The colour is so so pretty and works so well for me! I have difficulty finding good pinks, the majority will lean either too mauvy to the point of looking dated, or too orange, or too neon pink. This shade is that perfect tone.. or so I thought. The problem I find is if I apply a swipe too much, the pigment separates in a very weird way. On the surface, it looks fine and as expected, but underneath the top layer, it stains the lips this annoying bright neon-y pink! So, the wear and fading is very uneven — once the top layer starts wearing off, that awful pink starts peaking through until the top wears off completely and the lips look stained with that nasty pink in the end. I inspected the lipstick itself closely thinking maybe I got a dud, and maybe I did.. The lipstick bullet has tiny specks of that bright pink in it, so idk if it’s just a bad batch with the pigment not properly blended, or what. For that reason I give it three lippies, but if this is just how this lipstick generally is, then it’s not even worth two. Especially for the price. Now I try to apply the thinnest layer possible which seems to aid this weird separation somewhat, but I would still have to reapply during the day, and the more I reapply the more it separates..
Will not risk it repurchasing even though the shade is very pretty and overall wear is fine.

This is a HG pale pink for me. It looks very natural, and because of the satin finish, it lasts really well. There’s no scent, which I appreciate, and I like the bullet shape as well. The color is really gorgeous and perfect for every day. I’ve always been a little disappointed in Besame’s plasticy packaging, but it does still look nice even if it feels cheap. There’s a reason that Besame is so well-known for their lipsticks, and I highly recommend this color especially for fair people or anyone who doesn’t like reds but still wants to try the formula.

Portrait Pink is a neutral mid-tone pink housed in that adorable Besame tube, with that delish vanilla Besame scent. It’s a very pretty color that never pulls Barbie pink. I also own Besame Red Hot Red and find that when comparing the two formulas, the red is a lot better. (Red Hot Red is a flawless lipstick, fyi. I wrote a review on that one too.) I find the application and wear of this lipstick to be kinda fussy.
However, PP is still purchase-worthy for the color alone. While it’s *almost* opaque, it does require a few swipes to get a full, even application, and it catches on lip imperfections, so make sure to exfoliate. It also doesn’t have the gorgeous wear of RHR, needing more maintenance etc. I have no issues with the shape of Besame lipsticks, it actually helps me be more precise when applying, the edge acting almost like a liner, but I do recommend an actual matching lip liner with Portrait Pink.
Honestly, I’m not mad I have this, but if you’re hemming and hawing over which Besame shade to get I’d go with one of their bomb-ass reds.

I am a big fan of Besame products. First, the vintage-style packaging is gorgeous, and much nicer quality than most cheap plastic packaging of today. Second, the quality of the products has always met or exceeded my expectations. This lipstick is no exception. Beautiful, full-size gold metal tube (Besame lipsticks are now full-size, not small like the older Besame lipsticks) with the Besame logo & design in red. Portrait Pink is a lovely, opaque, matte neutral pink. Creamy formula with a faint vanilla scent. Lasting power is very good. These feel similar in formula (and staying power) to the Estee Lauder Double Wear lipsticks. I love these and will definitely repurchase if I ever run out.

I love the Besame lipsticks! The packaging is so beautiful. You really feel like you’ve gone back in time. Before the 1960s, lipsticks were much smaller, so the Besame lipsticks are smaller than a typical lipstick (which I know some people have complained about). I think it adds to the retro feel and experience though. They are totally vintage.
I think the Besame lipsticks are similar to the MAC cremesheen lipsticks in formula, finish, and even the vanilla scent. The shade “Portrait Pink” is a soft, baby pink, and is more neutral to cool-toned. Its very flattering on pale skin. To me the shade seems vintage 1950s.
The only reason I wouldn’t repurchase is that for shipping to Canada, the brokerage and customs fees weren’t included. Besame ships using UPS and they charged me an additional $55 CAD! which means I’m not likely to place another order.

Saw a feature of this in Lucky magazine before the launch and picked it up at an event at Henri Bendel. This will satisfy any makeup junkie on the lookout for a hidden treasure/independent cosmetic brand, because it certainly doesn’t look like any other lipstick. The gold packaging with red print is striking and decadant, recalling the glamour of a bygone era. Definitely a worthy addition to your nightstand. But after you peel away the stylistics, the lipstick itself doesn’t really stand out. In fact, it can be hard to use due to its angular surface and short tube. The color is pretty, though by no means exceptional, and you use it up quickly because they give you little product to begin with (it has to fit in that short tube). Don’t see myself going back to this.

Ok, got this in the sale the price was nice however, it is TINY and I wouldn’t pay even $6 for a lipstick that tiny again. Color wise I think the swatch on Besame is waaaaaaaaaay off. It looks like your getting a super cool pale baby pink. It is cool, but much more neutral than the swatch suggests, and its more of just a light creamy pink, not really pale or milky. Its a nice pretty polished lip for me, but it’s not a wow lippie.

Okay so here’s the deal. If you’re super fair great color for you. As always the Besame Lipsticks are VERY moisturizing, long lasting and feel great on. The problem is I am olive complected and in between tan and winter skin right now so this color looked very childish on me.
I look much better in deeper huhs all around. I am however in LOVE with the dusty rose.
Will be potentially purchasing the pinks enchanging lipstick set. and will update more later

I received this as part of the Luxurious Trio set, and originally thought it came with in miniatures because all of Besame’s products are so tiny. Anyway, Portrait Pink is a gorgeous light pink cream that looks wonderful with my fair skin. The formula is great–very pigmented and long-lasting without drying out my lips. I’m such a fan of Besame so far, and will definitely purchase more shades of Enchanting Lipstick.

Ugh. First of all, the colour didn’t work with me, at all. I’ve never liked pinks, and only once in my life have I found a shade of pink that actually works with my skintone. This was not one of them– it was far too cool. It reminded me of the juvenille play makeup sets for little girls. I’m fair-skinned, but this one just didn’t agree with me.
I’ve bought quite a few Besame lipsticks and have always been happy with the application, formulation, etc. I rate them high up there in the Merry Land Of Lipsticks. Besame lipsticks are in a category all their own! However, I really had trouble with this one. It just didn’t apply evenly. The colour looked uneven and smeary. I’m not sure if it was due to my natural colouring vs. the lipstick’s colouring… I’m leaning toward its pigments and maybe I got an older lipstick. Whatever it was, I wasn’t happy with this. Definitely made for those super pale folks who don’t have pigmented lips and that can pull off sweet little pastel colours.
