Milani is my go to for drugstore, “cheap” lipstick and this color is one of my favorites. I accidentally broke my first one and ran out to get another asap! It is a deep berry color that is flattering on almost any skin tone. The color has a great longevity, I usually only have to reapply after a meal. I usually prep my lips with lip balm before I apply and it glides on so smoothly. I don’t have a liner to match this color- but it stays put so well and doesn’t creep outside my lip line like so many other drugstore brands tend to do.

Dark colors are often patchy, and unfortunately this is the case. If you are familiar with Milani Color Statement Lipstick formula, you know how even and creamy it is, even in mattes in this line. I also have Best Red, which is also a matte, but the difference is huge. Sangria is patchy and clings to dry patches. The finish isn’t completely matte, rather satin. In terms of MAC Rebel dupes, I think Wet’n’Wild Sugar Plum Fairy wins because it is more pigmented and creamy, easier to apply. Also, Sugar Plum Fairy is brighter and has much more fuchsia pink in it. For a more matte look, I can also recommend NYX Aria. It is less pigmented than Wet’n’Wild lipstick, but you can build up the color; it applies evenly and stays put. I would recommend applying Sangria over a lip pencil or applied with a lip brush; this way it performs best.

tried this lipstick twice since being new to deeper colors. this shade is not pigmented like the others and applies all uneven and uncomfortable! I do love Milani lipsticks, but hate this shade as well as red label!!!
Received May 2014! this is an ELM jacket with a collar as well as the new ELM leg. used three coats of this lipstick as an oral and applied 4 coats on the inners per day!!!
Received May 2014. this lip is flawless as she put on that same lipstick twice and this is the best lipstick I’ve ever used!! I know how much I love Polka dots all the time, and we’re all saving up for a lipstick she wears everyday for work (you know, the color that most loves to wear) but this is the first I’ve used for any extended wear time and actually looks amazing on me.. I’ve finally seen some people gasp with delight at the sheerness and length of the full coverage she’s got. it was easy to twist to my liking and every time I turned on the lipstick, I thought it looked like I was looking at a variety of skin types. since this was real lipstick and it was actually a full colour, I actually never noticed a difference at all and the color really looked like lips gloss. definitely needs to be used as a cover.
Also received May 2014. these lips were still wide enough to get from crease down to crease big. these eyeshadows wear way too much and I’m never using them as a color lipstick because I have kind of light skin and shades like that my hand gets tired and blurs into my eyes and sets them out too much. I still own a couple that are good and others that are bad. I will be testing other shades as I have limited room in my collection, but I’m still okay with this lipstick due to how comfortable it is to wear in those thin 0.5″ shades and how it gives off so much glitters!
Received May 2014. I’m delighted to have a polish I could rely on to wear my lips wide with while wearing with the full coverage underneath as well as to let others know how good it looks while also providing a nice (and rather flattering) silhouette. LOVE it!!!

This Liptsitck is so worth it ! I pair with the lipliner from Mac “vino” and its perfect, I purchased this instead of Rebel its about the same color in my opinion. Perfect for Fall or winter and night time ocassions 🙂

I love this lipstick. It is very flattering for my skintone. Good price, beautiful packaging. I think that is a dupe for the lipstick Rebel by MAC. I recommend it and i will buy it again.

Humn… I have very mixed feelings about this Sangria…
I purchased this because it is touted as an exact dupe of MAC’s Rebel. I have to say, it is not. While the color is very similar, the formulation is way different. Usually Milani lipsticks are very smooth and creamy but Sangria is really matte – I like Matte lippies a lot BUT this specific formulation goes on really patchy and uneven. I also don’t like the feel of it – it really bothers me. While its a beautiful color, the cons outweigh the pros. I am gonna toss this and stick with Rebel.
