Limited Edition lipsticks some with duochrome, glitter or metallic finish. They are limited edition and part of the “Rainforest of the Sea” collection. I had other lipstick from this collection, “Pink Lemonade” a flat, matte light pink, hated it. Tossed it. However, these shade shifters are sheer and can be used alone or over other lipsticks to transform them and I love them. I got two, “Ocean Floor” which is a duochrome Mauve with Aqua duochrome and Yacht Week, which is an orchid pink with iridescent glitter. I’m not a huge glitter fan but it’s a really beautiful wearable pink and the Ocean Floor is surprisingly wearable, like a mauve but with something a bit different. Great for evenings in summer especially.
Without duochrome: Pink Lemonade was a bust. (came in a kit.) Light pink beige nude. Looked awful on me. Colada: a hit, a brown peachy nude but goes on very creamy and with a beautiful color that looks like a warmer nude YLBB.
The lipsticks come in a blue plastic case and are sheer in texture. One of them “Pink Sand” a metallic rose gold is usually sold out. The Tarte site has sales all the time, coupons and you can use those rebate sites as well, so wait for sales and see if you can pick up a few of these for summer fun.

I bought the shade island life which is a (rosy mauve) shade. This is such a pretty shade and can compliment a nude or smokey eye look.
I had never tried Tarte lipsticks before so this is my first one. Tarte have a great range of colors /shades and the formula is really good. I recommend this brand of lipstick because it is long wearing but perhaps have a lip gloss handy if you have dry lips like i do.
Pros
Highly pigmented / extreme color
Matte in color
Lasts a longtime before needing to reapply
Nice color ( rosy mauve)
Smells nice
Not tested on animals
vegan friendly
easy to remove
Cons
upon application lipstick feels nice at first but after a longtime of wear it dries my lips out
Needed to reapply because of dryness
Not too moisturising
The price is $32 dollars not a bad price but if you want a few lipsticks it can add up.

I have the shade Beach Babe. This lipstick definitely has a matte finish. It feels comfortable on the lips and lasts reasonably long. However, it clings to dry patches. I absolutely love the packaging.

I have Sunkissed (peachy Bardot nude) & Dacquiri (bright coral-red). (Sephora had them for $11 a while back.) I legit like them a lot. The formula is really creamy and opaque upon application with a slight moist shine, but in my experience these dry down mostly matte. Lasting power is pretty good. I feel like we should introduce a scale of lipstick longevity, like: “8/10 lasting power for normal lipstick, with a solid 4/10 on the liquid lip scale.”
I don’t love the way they feel on my lips after a while (just old & crusty feeling?) and they’ll mildly emphasize dryness and flakes. Also, for all their initial creaminess, they can be slightly drying. Solid 3.5 for these, rounded up to 4 lippies just because the color range is realllly pretty. (Gonna post this before I change my mind and round down to 3 in honor of the eyesore packaging…)

After KVD reformulated her studded kiss lipsticks, I was devastated to learn that my one and only HG lipstick color: Lolita was changed. The new formulation’s Lolita OG and Lolita are not the same old shade that I love. It just lacks of that ‘slaying’ burnt burgundy-ish hue in the color. I tried so hard to find another dupe that could replace it. After weeks of trying, my quest is finally over. Among all the potential dupes mentionned on the internet (Hourglass, Tom Ford, Anastasia, Givenchy, Sephora Cream Lip Stains, to name a few), I have finally found the color that is exactly—exactly, I tell you—as my Lo. It’s this lipstick in Island Life. I applied this lipstick and my Lo each on half my lips to see the difference. The only difference is Tarte is way more creamy and hydrating, which can give a very subtle shinier finish and a tad more vivid. I prefer it to be a bit more matte and stiff, like my old Kat’s, but it lasts longer and cushions my lips nicely so I have nothing to complain about. Despite its hideous packaging, I am satisfied and will end my quest of the lost Lo here. It’s the closest thing Ive found in the market.
The price is a bit more expensive, but the quality is even better than KvD in her both formulation. Also this lipstick has 0.5 grams more than KvD so I would say the price is quite the same. I took one lippie off because of the ugly packaging which all my friends agree but overall I am highly satisfied.

It so sucks that these are limited edition. I bought Ocean Floor, Sunlit and Bodysurf. They are all amazing! Sunlit is very a glittery/shimmery neural which some may think is too 80’s, but the 80’s were good times for me and I like the look. Bodysurf is a coral/rusty color with a lot of depth, it is the warmest of the three. Ocean Floor, which is my favorite is a berry/mauve/kind of purplish, hell I can’t even give a good description of the color and I really this it’s subjective. My friend (a muggle for sure) and I stopped into Sephora before we went to an opera as she was super light on makeup. She didn’t want red, no pink, no brown, ugh, I didn’t see a solution other than Ocean Floor. She tried it on and was smitten. We have similar coloring but it looked different on her, we both wore it that night and it did not look like the same lipstick. Love these. Need back ups before they go away.

Tarte recently introduced some new color additions to their Rainforest of the Sea Lipsticks. I usually find the traditional colors of their Rainforest of the Sea Lipsticks to be very smooth and buttery but their new Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Shade Shifting Lipsticks are a little less buttery and have a slightly more grainy texture. I was hoping for a little more shift in the shade but I did find it to be very wearable and didn’t leave my lips feeling too dry. My more detailed review and swatches can be seen here:

I was given this lipstick by a family member and to start with, I didn’t think I’d like it because I wouldn’t normally buy such a light nude (I’m an NC 20-25 and prefer deeper shades), but I am pleasantly surprised with how relaxed and flattering this shade is. It’s definitely an understated colour, but very complimentary to whatever makeup I wear. I like how it adds colour to my face but doesn’t make my makeup too dramatic. It comes off as a true nude pink, though it looks even better with some lipliner or liquid lipstick underneath to give the colour a bit more depth.
The packaging is a bright turquoise and definitely gives off island or holiday vibes. It’s cute, but I once dropped this lipstick and the lid flew off, which has never happened to a lipstick before. It’s not a big deal, but the packaging isn’t my favourite, though it definitely does stand out. The texture is very smooth and it applies a bit thick with a lot of pigment, so it ends up looking like a really full, matte lip. It really created the “my lips are bigger without fillers” look and make them look more plump, which is something to consider if you want that look in particular.
I would buy this product again, mostly because Rum Punch is a really sweet, but sultry colour and I think it’s hard to find nudes that compliment my skin tone in the way I like. Overall, it’s a pretty good lipstick, and much more hydrating that many matte ones I try.

I like these newer Tarte lipsticks, they are very well made and shade selection is beautiful.
I have two shades: Beach Babe and Rum Punch. Both actually look very similar on my lips (could be my natural lip colour that adds some extra pigment) but these are gorgeous, wearable nudes that go well with every look out there. I must admit I do prefer Rum Punch, so if you are somewhere around my complexion (NC 20) you might really like it; have more unedited swatches here (
These lipsticks are not scented; but if you squint – they do smell a bit like Urban Decay’s Vice range. I wish Tarte were more adventurous and gave these at least a soft vanilla scent, something delicious for me to enjoy them a tiny bit more. These are very creamy, quite opaque and forgiving. Good range if you like a bullet lipstick and neutral tones.
