This is the ONLY product I have ever found that really keeps my lips in shape. Back in the day, I used Body Shop exfoliating lip stuff & their lip balm, cheap stuff, expensive stuff. Only Extra Firming keeps chapped lips away. I smear it all over lip & surrounding skin at night & it reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Makes it easier to apply lip liner the next day. On no-makeup days, I stay in the lines and use it just to maintain a little shine. Almost zero scent. One jar lasts forever; I’ve never had a problem with it spoiling & only use it will clean fingertip!

I can’t say that this provides any firming to my lips, but it is a great combination of moisturizer and moisture barrier. So many lip products are either too waxy and not moisturizing, or they are moisturizing, but just slip away. I’ve been using my first jar for 14 months and still have some left. I use it every morning and in the evening after removing my make-up. I’m not thrilled with the packaging. A jar isn’t the handiest for a lip product, and the reason I don’t use it during the day (don’t want to lug it around in my purse). I will definitely repurchase!

I have been on the lookout for a good lip conditioner for a long time. I’ve tried them from just about every brand out there and a couple of months ago, I decided to go ahead and try the one from Clarins. I’ve used Clarins skincare in the past and I’ve always been impressed with them, so I decided that it would be worth a shot to see if this product performed the way the $38 price tag implied it would.
To cut to the chase … it’s not worth the $38. At least not to me.
It is a nice lip conditioner. It is not a miracle worker.
The packaging, especially at this price point, is really underwhelming. Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice packaging, very sturdy glass jar with a lid that fits tightly. But having to dip my fingers into the product in order to apply it is … MEH. It did come with a little spatula so you could use that to keep the product sanitary, but why? It’s not like the product is so liquid that Clarins couldn’t just mold it into tube form and package it like a lipstick, which would also make it infinitely more portable.
So the product is nice. It feels nice on the lips, hydrating without being too oily or too sticky. It contains a lot of mineral oil, which again … meh. As far as the “Contour Balm” part, it didn’t do a damn thing for the fine lines around my lips. The product doesn’t last terribly long on the lips either. All in all, I felt like the texture and the results were really similar to what I would get from using Chapstick, though Chapstick’s packaging is a lot less annoying and its price point certainly beats Clarins all to hell.
Overall, this is a giant miss for me.

This is a very expensive little pot of lip balm. I haven’t noticed any benefits as far as ‘extra firming’ and ‘control lip and contour’
Does a good job at moisturising your lips.
This jar sits on my bedside table and I use it at night along with my nightly face cream before I go to sleep.
Average lip balm hence the 3 lippies, great moisturiser but there are other products out there cheaper that will do the same job.
I find Clarins can be hit or miss and this is definitely a near miss.

I bought this product as recently i noticed have a lot of wrinkles around my lips and normal lip balm does not seem to work on my dry lips. I have used this product nightly and in the morning and it seems to work. Now my wrinkles have lessen considerably and I am extremely happy with the results

I am a skin product junkie esp lip products so this was another kink in the bedpost. An expensive one at that! Its good to have and use up but ive had better lip products. I like the consistency and has a lovely rich texture on the lips. its a rich balm and goes on easily and does moisturise. It leaves my lips feeling softer even after its worn off but it doesnt last compared to even simple much less costly lip products. Theres alot of product in the pot which maybe justifies its cost a little. I might repurchase this if im feeling extra generous to myself. And would recommend it for a good premium lip product if you have the disposable cash.

I purchased this lip and “lip contour” treatment quite a few years ago now and mine came in a squeeze tube, not in a jar with a spatula. The tube makes it much more practical for applying and for carrying with me in my bag. This is a nice enough product and I used to apply it at night, before bed, so it could sink in and soften my lips (which it does very nicely) and do whatever it is supposed to do to my “lip contour”. But since trying the other Clarins lip treatment – the one in the blue squeeze tube – I’ve pretty much ignored this one as I prefer the one in the blue tube that is from their “Moisture” line of products. So this isn’t bad but the other one from Clarins is better!

I have this in the jar with the spatula. Bought it before going on overseas trip as had run out of Mecca Lip Treatment (my staple) and couldnt get to Mecca before leaving. This is fantastic, I am very pleased with the performance. I already have quite full lips, and this seems to smooth and round them out at their best. It treats dryness very well, but tastes weird lol So don’t eat it!!:) Deduct one lippie as the jar and spatula form is not as convenient so I can’t apply when in a rush. Although as its so effective I just apply it before bed and in morning while doing makeup if needed- shouldnt really need it during day. So maybe not a handbag staple, just a bathroom staple:)

I am a chronic sufferer of dry and chapped lips. Therefore, I have tried almost all kinds of treatments and balms. I bought the Clarins one with the hope that it would help with lines on my lips. I have been using it for 3-4 months but I do not see any improvement with the lines or wrinkles. Yet it moisturizes well. It is quite a heavy cream so I can only use it at night before I go to bed. When I wake up, I have well-moisturized but still oily lips. I don’t think I can wear it under a lipstick during the day. And also it has a weird smell and taste. Overall, even though I don’t expect much from it as a wrinkle or lifting treatment, I will buy again as it is a good moisturizer for my chapped lips.

There seems to be some general confusion as to which product this actually is…
I bought this about 2 weeks ago. It is in a glass pot with a plastic lid, comes with a spatula included in the box. This is definitely the most recent version of this product by Clarins, it is the one pictured on their site to purchase. There is an accompanying EXFOLIATOR in a tube that you can purchase from the same range.
There WAS an older version of the balm in tube form, someone below mentioned a stick with an exfoliator on one side, which I do not know about, and have not seen on the Clarins site.
The product I am using CURRENTLY, however, is great. I wouldn’t expect a good lip product to come from Clarins even though I rely on them for great faux tan for the face. It smells fruity, slightly like guava but not overpowering. It’s a smooth texture which is easily picked up with the spatula and applies with a glossy finish. It is no way sticky, and hydrates and protects the lips immediately. I must admit I was surprised at how well this works. I consider myself a lip balm/treatment addict with many products in rotation, and I use this as a night treatment, and I love the feeling on my lips.
Upon application, it does plump the lips slightly and fill in small lines. I prefer a less heavy balm for day so this is great for night time. I use the spatula to pick up about the amount of the tip of the spatula, so it coats the lips well.
For those of you with incredibly chapped or cracked lips, this would provide a nourishing protection for them whilst they heal. I feel like this improves the condition of my lips and helps slow the chapping cycle.
Overall, I rate this an A. It’s about $44 AU, but for how well it works I think it’s decently priced. It’s unique in texture and performance, and definitely does 10x more for your lips than a chapstick will.
