I’m 51 and I have some fine lines around my lips. This product helps keep dark or bright lipstick from feathering. I apply a tiny dab of it to my lips, focusing on the edges, and let it set, which only takes a minute. I then apply my pencil liner and lipstick and I’m good to go. It also keeps matte lipsticks from being too drying.

I was very skeptical of this product, but having tried many other lip primers (I have a few of those vertical lip lines), I decided to give it a shot, particularly given the reasonable price. Well, I’m blown away. I applied just as directed–just a tiny bit on the lipline and onto the lips–let it dry, and then applied my makeup. It’s very creamy and slightly thin, and it feels–well, not moisturizing when being applied, but it is indeed moisturizing. Normally I have a whole routine to prevent lipstick bleeding (outline lips with MAC Chromagraphic pencil, smudge with brush, powder heavily, brush away excess after a few minutes, them apply liner and lip product), but I didn’t need to do any of that after having used LipFix. I used BB’s Crushed Lipstick that day, which has a balmy formula, and not only did it not bleed, it lasted an amazing period of time without touchups. Needless to say, given that this will cut three steps out of my normal daily routine, I will continue to use it and I will repurchase.
I think it’s unfortunate that Elizabeth Arden is an overlooked brand (by me, as well as others), mostly because of its, well, dowdy image. They make some real gems (mousse foundation, liquid blush, some lipsticks) and update their line regularly. LipFix will remind me to check EA out more often.

For the record, I am not someone that wears lipstick very often (unlike my mother who won’t leave the house without her lipstick on, even if she isn’t wearing anything else on her face). I do however wear some form of lip balm, lip oil, or lip gloss on my lips all the time. I also line my lips and then use the lip liner to fill them in lightly under my balm or gloss. My lip shape is quite the opposite of full, and there is one vertical line above my upper lip that causes me great angst which is why I shy away from lip stick. Enter Elizabeth Arden Advanced Lip Fix Cream. This is basically a primer for your lips, filling in any cracks on or around the lips. It comes in a squeeze tube with a very tiny opening where all you need to dispense is a tiny dot of product. Apply to lips and surrounding area to fill in any cracks/lines and then let it dry. This will give you a smooth surface to line and fill in your lips without having lipstick bleeding or feathering at all. It won’t make them fuller, but you can fake that by slightly overdrawing your liner, especially since it fills in and vertical lines that would break the liner. Surprisingly this also feels really nourishing and creamy on the lips, but in a soft and supple way, not heavy at all. I do think this helps a lot to reduce the lines and prep lips for liner/lipstick. I’ve also put this on and forgot to apply a lip product overtop but my mouth looked healthy, soft and smooth. Thanks mariella99 for suggesting this product, it’s awesome!

There’s a reason this product has been around for as long as it has – it really works! I don’t really like using lip liner to keep lipsticks from bleeding but as I’ve got older (cough cough), I’ve notice some lipsticks tending to “travel” into one annoying vertical line I have on my upper lip. I’d contemplated getting MAC Prep+Prime Lip but decided to try EA Lip Fix instead, after reading the good reviews. I am so pleased with this product. Just the tiniest amount – about the head of a pin – applied across my lips and a bit over the edge and allowed to set/dry, and my lipsticks last much longer than otherwise and I get no lipstick “bleeding” outside my lip margins. This also doesn’t feel weird or drying on my lips. Lip Fix has been around for quite some time and I really hope they don’t suddenly decide to discontinue or “reformulate/improve” it.
UPDATE: This stuff is a real god-send. I’ve been using it for about 2 months now and it extends the wear of pretty much every lipstick I own. But what is really great is that this product has made UD’s (dis)Comfort Matte lipstick actually enjoyable to wear. I purchased the colour Love Drunk a while ago, hoping that the name “Comfort Matte” had some truth to it. Sadly, I found it dry and uncomfortable to apply and to wear. Lip Fix has changed all that. I can wear this lovely shade now without feeling like I’ve applied some sort of desiccant or a Sharpie marker to my lips – instead, the lipstick lasts all morning and into the afternoon AND feels and looks good the whole time. It won’t turn me into a lover of matte lipsticks but it will make those I do own a lot more enjoyable to wear.

I learned of this little gem while reading reviews over on the MAC Prep+Prime lip treatment. Since I have become obsessed with liquid lipsticks, I needed to find a product that would keep my lips moist underneath. Listen, this is exactly that. I place a thin layer on my lips before liquid lipstick and I do not have any drying, cracking or desert-like feel at all. ALL DAY! I will definitely repurchase. The product does what it is supposed to, the packaging is very easy to use and the white tube stands out against the hoards of other things in my makeup drawer.

Have used this religiously morning and night since 1982! Have not had chapped lipped once, evn living in dehydrated southern California. This is the one product I would have to take with me to a desert island!

I used to swear by the Lip & Eye Fixes ever since they were introduced years ago, but in my fickle product junkie mode, I forsook them for the latest makeup artist /beauty editor stuff. Silly. Then I got to be “a certain age” with the lip lines that go with it. Pencils weren’t really stopping the bleeding lipstick and other bases affected the shade & were the wrong consistency. Lip Fix is just right: no color, not too dry or slippery, and it works all day. You only need a tiny bit, then pat it in well around the lipline and on the lips. It seems pricey but it’s really a bargain considering how little you use at a time. For you young girls out there: pay attention to things that have been around for a long time because they’ve lasted for a reason.

I have a lot of lines in my lips, really works to smooth & lipstick lasts longer too.

I picked this up at Marshall’s for about $8 and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase.
It really does help your lipstick, lipliner or glosses stay on your lips longer and it moisturizes your lips and leaves them feeling very soft.
No strong smells and it absorbs very quickly without any residue or aftertaste.
The tube is sanitary and I would even buy it at full retail price because it works and a little goes a long way.

This is the only lip primer that works for me, and it moisturizes too so long as your lips aren’t badly cracked (if they are, try Herbal Glo lip balm, a Canadian product that works wonders). Just a tiny blob of the primer smooths the lips, evens out the tone, and helps lipstick stay on longer and look better. This product is miles better for me than anything else I’ve tried, including Clinique’s All About Lips.
