I love this lipgloss so much. I like it even more than the clear lip gloss. The tint of red is the perfect amount of coloring for my lips. The formula is shiny, but not at all sticky.

Roughly 20 years ago, I read in Kevyn Aucoin’s Making Faces Book that every woman needs a clear red lip gloss in her makeup bag. But I have been surprised over the years how very difficult such a product was to find. Sure, I’ve collected plenty of clear coral and dark pink glosses, and red tinted lip balms, and red lip glosses with shimmer, and I tried red lipsticks sheered out and topped with clear gloss. But over time, I could never find exactly the right one — cherry red, no glitter, lots of shine — that the legendary Aucoin would approve of. You wouldn’t think it would be so elusive, but I have honestly been looking for years.
So when Glossier came out with exactly such a product this summer, I had to have it. I chose this in a set with the Moonstone Haloscope and hallelujah. It’s such a stellar combo — with mascara and concealer, I get a finished face that doesn’t look overdone.
$14 at Glossier.com.

EDIT: Not for me at all. But maybe for you.
This was a complete and total impulse buy. Let’s face it: Glossier’s marketing is incredibly seductive, even though they largely cater to the millennial set (I see on Instagram that they’re using an older model–keep that up, Glossier!) Anyhow, this came in the post in record time. I am–how shall we say?–underwhelmed. The tube is tiny, as in sample size tiny. By itself, this reads as a bit sickly-Kool Aid-y. Over a blotted red lip, however (I use Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Colour in Ruby), this is quite nice for summertime, if used sparingly. When used all over, this gives me the dreaded white gummy strings–not attractive at all. For gloss, I remain attached to the humble Bigelow Ultra Mentha as well as Clarins Red Berry Glam Lip Oil. You get what you pay for and more in both cases.
