This is a really interesting and beautiful highlighter that I could see myself reordering. I had run out of my RMS Living Luminizer and had just found out about Rituel de Fille, so I decided to see what they had before jumping on RMS again (though I still love it). The Alchemist Highlight caught my eye because it seemed to have an oiliness and neutral silvery-white tone akin to the RMS formula.
I turned out to be right about both of these things, but let me tell you, the sparkle is NOT messing around. God, this thing sparkles– it’s packed with pretty large mica flecks. I balked when I first started patting it onto my cheekbone, but I stepped back for a better look. Normally shimmer and glitter has me running in the opposite direction, but the reason it worked this time was because of how oily the formula is. It imparts a wet, dewy sheen that makes the mica not appear as dry flecks on my cheeks, but seems to make them glint from underneath the sheen in a really pleasing way. When the light isn’t hitting it, it’s all invisible from any reasonable distance. If I get right up in the mirror I can see the flecks. You kinda look like you threw water on your face wherever you put this, if you’re into that. I’m into that.
Again, high oil content, so it really doesn’t do well over foundation or shadow. My cream blush is larely undisturbed if I pat the highlighter over top. Some of the shine fades throughout the day, but it’s still mostly there by the end. It has a pretty lavender sent and I appreciate the wide, flat pan it comes in.
