The Summer Solstice highlights palette contains; Saint-Tropez (shimmering champagne gold cream), Malibu (bronze with a gold refection), Copacabana (sweet-pink powder ) and Mykonos (semi-sheer purple with a subtle blue gleam powder).
There is shimmer in everything except Mykonos, but it is finely milled, weightless and it doesn’t outlive the bases to the highlighters – such an important factor. When using the shades individually, I look straight-on into a mirror after application I can’t see anything, but when I turn my head the powders catch the light and flash intensely. A perfect highlighter – it’s not just sitting there as a strip of colour on skin ala Adam Ant. The base shades are universal, so will work on all skintones. When I apply my makeup in the morning I’ll sometimes use a setting spray, but sometimes I won’t, and I found that the highlighter will last until I’m ready to remove my makeup in the evening no matter if I use one or not.
What makes this palette different from the hundreds of other highlight palettes on the market is that Huda designed the formulas to be used alone AND for the cream shade Saint-Tropez to also double as a base for the powders for a more intense payoff and more structured look; “apply Saint -Tropez as a base to smooth the skin and amplify the light-reflecting pearls. Dab on Copacabana from cheek to temple to set and bring out the pop and apply Malibu under the cheekbones to add dimension and shape. Sweep Mykonos onto the apples of your cheeks for a healthy-looking glow”.

Well, it looked SO Beautiful, had RAVE reviews, I coveted it for months….finally broke down and bought it.
I tried it, tried it again, and again and again! Wanted SO much to love this beautiful looking and packaged beauty! But….I am 62 years old, and I am telling you now, it has a very limited usage factor for this old broad! Too shiny, too in your face….I use it in my eyelid crease more than anywhere else. But that’s not really why I bought it….For me, as Beautiful as it is, and how lovely it would be on younger skin, it just ain’t pulling through for me. This one was not my best pick. That said I must re-iterate, that it is a beautiful well made and good product, just didn’t work for me.
So……I am reneging on my previous review…I guess this old broad needed a few tips and lessons on the new rave of highlighting….some one used the Becca highlighter on me, now that is one HIGHlighter and shine, pretty as it was, once I was shown how to apply it, (even though I did also buy the Becca, LOL) I went back to my HUDA and actually I like it even better than the Becca, and it has of all things become a staple in my kit! But I use a very light hand, just for top of cheekbones and around the temple. So it has definitely ended up working for me, once I knew how to use it! And her colours are to die for! So I hope my previous review didn’t turn you off and that you might just try it in store to see if this works as well for you. I always think that’s the best way to buy, I bought online with out trying or getting the benefit of a professional showing me how to use on older skin.
