Grabbed this one whilst on a visit to the UK where I discovered much to my horror that I’d left my trusty Aveda shampoo back at home! Never used an Aloe or olive oil based shampoo before to my knowledge so was keen to give this a shot. Unfortunately unlike what natural goodness the product name conjured up, I found it very artificial (texture, fragrance etc) and although it seemed to suit my hair just fine (it is thick and naturally wavy) and didn’t dry it out at all, my scalp did not like it one single bit and became itchy and inflamed! Ended up having to stop by at an Aveda counter and grab a trial size shampoo to get my scalp back to normality. Still, a super-duper cheap shampoo, not been left out of pocket so can’t complain much. This one’s just not for me unfortunately.

(As I’ve sampled many 100s of skin, hair and m/u products over the last decade and a half, I thought it might be useful to share my top 10 must-have products, subject to change if and when I come across something more effective. I love constantly trying out new stuff – usually sample sizes via e-bay, also plenty courtesy of a friend who works at Sephora)

I have type 4c thick natrual hair and this is my go to moisturizing shampoo. I was already fimilar with this shampoo having used their boxed relaxers for years. Now I use it on my natural hair and it works great. It cleans the hair well and a light cleaning to the scalp without stripping it bare. Perfect for regular use. It says clarifying but it dosnt get everything off my scalp. I do use heavier products on my hair (creams and butters) so that might be the case too. I have another shampoo for clarifying anyway. That said it leaves my hair clean, refreshed, and smells great without being expensive. Texture is like any shampoo liquidy without being too runny. Its also a light green color but no worries it dosn’t stain! Highly recommend to anyone in need of a moisturizing shampoo.

I use this shampoo if I’m going to reconstruct my hair and use a great deep conditioner afterwards. It really removes build up in the hair, preparing the hair for your treatments to really sink in. I really think using it daily would strip the hair, especially if the hair is particularly dry. Other than that, it’s a great cheap shampoo to use as a clarifier.

I’ve been using this product for 6 months. I will start with my pros/cons, then give my overall review.
Pros: Good price for amount of product in bottle. Thick product- a little goes a long way. Leaves my hair very soft and tangle-free. Also works as a relaxer neutralizing shampoo.
Cons: More expensive than other products on the market that function the same way.
Overall Review: ORS products are yay/nay for me. Even though they come highly recommended, you really have to try their products out for yourself. This product is a creamy and light-smelling. Has a conditioning quality on its own. I’ve never used it as a neutralizing shampoo. I prefer ones that change color. This shampoo has been in my shampoo rotation for a while now. Would I recommend? Yes.
Would I repurchase? Yes.

What a lovely shampoo- great for any hair type even dry/damaged. I loved this product avoided it due to packaging (not the best in the world)- however a friend recently informed me about it as my hair was damaged after highlights- my hair felt softer from the first application- so moisturizing- only a small amount is required- nice smell- best shampoo I have come across.

PROS: Very inexpensive. Super gentle cleansing for my very dry and very fine hair.
CONS: Wish it had a yummy scent. It doesn’t smell bad at all; it’s just that I’m a sucker for a yummy smell.
ALTERNATES: L’Oreal’s Mega Moisture Shampoo (found at Sally’s Beauty Supply) is just a bit more cleansing than this and has a yummy scent, but the price is definitely higher.

I found this in the specialist Afro hair care section in boots (which is very poor in selection considering the amount of products they sell. Come on Boots!).I am white with curly frizzy hair and I adore Mixed chicks leave, in so I gave it a go.
Firstly, I always read the ingredients and avoid anything which has SLS or Diamethicone in (most shampoos), this has both BUT are way down the list. CG girls will prob want to steer clear. However that being said I love this shampoo and it really is moisturizing. After the first use my hair was glossy and after a few uses no product build up. It claims to remove mineral build up – which, I presume is from water. I can’t testify to this yet although we have hard water so i’ll let you know.
The packaging looks cheap but i don’t care, honestly I can decant it or hide it if I was super offended. The price of £3.47 makes up for this small oversight.
UPDATE – this dried out my hair eventually which I was really sad about, High rec this for oily hair or hair which isn’t as fussy as mine though.

I started using this after Creme of Nature reformulated their shampoo. It works well enough, but I need something more. I’m just not sure what more it is.

terrible shampoo. its very very drying and tangles your hair to the max.
