This oil isn’t anything special. It’s too heavy, just sits on top of the hair straw and applies unevenly, and seems to have no real repairing effect. I get better smoothing and glossing results with GOSH overnight oil and TIGI afterparty. I am a fan of Olaplex products no. 1, 2 and 3, which saved my hair. But the rest of the Olaplex product line is average at best.

I have used so many hair oils and admittedly only bought this bc I’m obsessed w olaplex 1 2 and 3. I also use 6 which I like.
This oil was very underwhelming and not worth the price. It doesn’t hydrate or moisturize enough. I like the small bottle though as its cute and easy to carry around but I wont be repurchasing. There are just so many oil products that do a much better job than this one.

I didn’t rush out to buy this when it first came out because I didn’t “need” another hair oil. With all the glowing reviews I just had to try it though, thanks again Makeup Alley for talking me into it lol because I really like it.
First impression: It’s quite a bit different than most conventional hair oils.First of all, it’s really light and doesn’t feel greasy at all. When I first tried it, I put a few drops in my hands, rubbed them together and smoothed it on my dry hair. I thought I would need to apply more because I thought for sure it absorbed into my skin but no. Smoothing it over my hair I could tell right away that it didn’t. It melded into my course/but fine frizzy 2c bi polar hair right away. Every trace of it disappeared into my hair and just made it feel so lightweight and smooth. I’ve been cocktailing it with number 6 on damp hair , and I find (like other reviews mentioned) it really does help frizz. I generally air-dry and barely heat style. For curiosity’s sake I did run my flat iron quickly through my hair once it dried and it did hold up to the claim of working as a heat protectant (I believe up to 450 degrees).
Value: Yes it’s a small bottle but so super concentrated, and I think the packaging is actually genious. It doesn’t dispense a lot of product because you don’t need a lot of product. So you are not wasting product or using more than you are supposed to. I’m sure you could overuse it if you really tried (not that you would want to because the container is so small) but you would have to REALLY try.
Comparisons: I have Essence Absolue oil, oil n cream and spray oil, Kérastase Elixir Ultime, Oribe Gold Lust, Aquage silkening, a few others…I love all of these in their own way but I’d put the Olaplex oil in a completely different category because of how evident the repairing properties are the very first time you use it. And not in the heavy-coated-it’s just temporary kind of repair feeling. It made my hair just feel like healthy hair.
Overall, air dried or flat ironed, my hair was super smooth and looked shinier than usual. I’d definitely give it a shot if you are looking for a lightweight oil and/or need a product that helps with frizz.

My stylist got this for me to blend in with Olaplex No.6. He added a drop of this oil to the No.6 creme. My hair was/ is so smooth and silky after using the duo. I was not sure why it was even necessary because the No.6 is supposed to be a stand alone treatment. However, after feeling my hair and using 6 and 7 together myself at home, they do remove the frizzies even more and adds a very nice shine. It’s reasonably priced, nicely packaged and it does work as an add on. Not sure what it would do alone. Thus only 4 lippies.

I’ve never tried any products from Olaplex before but from the reviews I’ve read, the products seem to be pretty polarizing, giving either excellent or dreadful results. But I saw this new hair oil at Sephora and, as I love just about every hair oil I’ve ever tried, I figured I’d ask for a sample. Well, predictably for me, I guess, I was back within 3 days to get the full sized bottle. I don’t understand their numbering system and while I don’t know if there are oils #1 though 6, I don’t really care as #7 has been a lucky number for me. I applied this to my damp hair, using very little, and after my hair was dried, it felt so smooth and silky-soft. I got this during the VIB sale so the price wasn’t bad but what’s best is the results I get. This claims to help protect colour and do a bunch of other good things but I’m just happy that it helps make and keep my hair looking soft and shiny. If it can help with breakage from styling (blow drying and flat ironing), I’ll be over the moon happy though since hair is technically “dead”, I don’t know how much help it can be with those issues. The packaging for this is really stupid….trying to get a few drops out of the bottle is a bit of a challenge – sometimes it lands on my hand, sometimes it drips onto my counter. A dropper would have been so much better than this “invert and tap the bottom of the bottle” idea (which doesn’t work – I have to whack or shake the bottle, hence the potential for mess and waste). Even so, this is a nice product for hair like mine – coarse, thick and prone to frizz.
