It made my hair drier and tangled. This one didnt work for me (but I love moisture recovery, kpak deep penetraing reconstructor and intensy Hydrator).

I got Revitaluxe because I somehow hoped that it’s a 2-in-1 product and would somehow replace K-Pak Deep Penetrating Reconstructor paired with K-Pak Intense Hydrator and give comparable results. Well, I was wrong apparently, as Revitaluxe is a decent hair treatment, but it’s not knocking my socks off and doesn’t live up to the claims Joico makes about its abilities, that it, for example, instantly repairs years of damage, according to Joico. Somehow doesn’t make my hair as shiny or as manageable as the Reconstructor/Hydrator combination, not to mention it’s hard to see any “repair” action happening. It’s not like my hair is super-damaged, I have damage from hair styling, but that’s about it. Revitaluxe also doesn’t hydrate my hair as well as I hoped/expected and does disappointingly little to reduce frizz, both which are areas where Intense Hydrator excels at. While I love K-Pak line in general and it has given me marvelous results (and I’ve been coming back to it for 15 years because of that), Revitaluxe is more of a miss for me. It’s not a hard fail as it didn’t leave me greasy and limp, or damage my hair, but I never had good hair days when using it, neither alone nor combined with other products.

There are a lot of great reviews already here explaining how this works. It’s true it’s not for everyone….and it’s not just about your hair texture either. I have really thick hair but I had bleached and colored it so I still needed some strengthening, in addition to moisture. If you bleach your hair, chances are high you could do with a protein treatment.
I had previously used the deep penatrator and intense hydrator as a SYSTEM, and still do. One and then the other. The deep penetrator does not condition your hair like a regular conditioner (with “slip”) and this one doesn’t too much either. As people have said, it’s about strengthening the hair from the inside. This one is basically meant to be a combo which does make it easier, but it’s also not high on ‘slip’ and I find that totally ok. The intense hydrator feels the most slippery because it’s meant to be like the finishing conditioner. I get why people love that one, but I do think it matters to use ones like this and the DP too. If you really wanted, you could add the IH over this, but I don’t think it’s necessary. I still use all 3 Joicos, as well as some other heavily silky hair masks, it all depends. But I am glad I’ve added this type of strengthener to my routine, either in the one or two steps.
It’s hard to review this one alone from the other two as I like all of them, but if I had to pick it apart, I would say the two step is slightly more effective but this is easier. So it’s really a wash, either way, as long as this is the type of thing your hair needs. But if you do need it, any of them, I highly recommend. I also personally don’t love the smell but it’s not a deal breaker for me. Other people love the DP smell which is kind of tropical and I don’t really like it but this one smells more chemical to me. I don’t feel like it’s very strong though so I don’t mind. I would buy this again, easily. As a matter of fact, the more I use this, the more I really like it. My hair feels great after using this one and it’s simple. I might even prefer the one step now.

I NEVER leave review. This was amazing. It made my hair feel denser, if that makes sense. My ends are fried and lack density or heaviness. After one use this all went away and my ends felt completely different. My hair now had the density it was previously lacking.

Joico Revitaluxe didn’t work for my hair. It made my hair tangled, dry, matted, coarse. Yuck!
I could feel it making my hair drier within a minute of putting it and washed it out right away!
I am assuming, my hair doesn’t need all the protein. Will stick to Joico Intense Hydrator which my hair likes.
For reference , my hair is highlighted, long, very dry, wavy and coarse.

this is probably my favorite hair mask. a bit pricey but worth it in my opinion!

This product will work wonders for those who need protein in their hair (weak, limp).
If you hair is tough, like mine, and just needs moisture, this is not the ideal mask. The more I understand my hair needs, the more I am realizing it just needs moisture, moisture, moisture!
Some people color their hair regularly, and need extra protein to keep life in their hair strands. This mask has jojoba oil and keratin proteins as top ingredients, so if your hair just needs a zap of protein with a hint of moisture, this is a great product for you.
Unfortunately, it didn’t do much for my hair, and I was sad after reading the reviews since it seems to work for so many people. However, now that I understand how protein and moisture interact with hair, and how my hair responds to protein and/or moisture, I see that this was just not the ideal product for me. It’s not a cure-all for everyone, as the great reviews would suggest – but it will do well in the right circumstances. 3 stars.

THIS WILL SAVE YOUR HAIR.
This product is a miracle in a bottle. Saved my seriously (and I mean seriously) bleach damaged hair. It went from dry, frizzy and disgusting to smooth, sleek and healthy looking. You must try this if you have damaged hair.

This was recommended by my hair colorist and I’m not usually one for fancy restorative hair masks, but this is one that has changed my mind!
I usually feel that those OTC 3-minute hair masks from neutrogena and etc, are fine enough for my hair. However, in comparison, this mask does not just restore moisture, but it definitely does restore protein! I color my hair every 3-4 months and I curl it pretty often on super high heat, (which I know isn’t the smartest..) so my hair definitely suffers from breakage and weakness, especially at the ends.
After using this product around 1-2x a week (every other time I wash my hair), you see the difference! It’s softer, shinier, and my ends aren’t of course fully repaired, but they do seem stronger. I’ve used this product over 6 months now and I will be repurchasing. The scent of the product that some reviews talk about… well, I don’t believe that it actually lingers, and it is not strong at all. So don’t hesistate if you are in between buying this K-pak versus an OTC one.

Few years ago I tried the K-Pak Deep Penetrating Reconstructor but I wasn’t impressed because it didn’t do anything really special with my hair, I had even the impression that it made it stiffer somehow. I came to the conclusion that my hair doesn’t like proteins, or at least the big sized proteins that only stick on your hair and make it hard, but only the small sized ones that are able to penetrate the cuticle. I have wavy, medium density hair. I did the porosity test and although my hair didn’t sink, I’m sure that I have high porosity hair, because it needs a bit of humidity to frizz like crazy – and this is the big indicator for high porosity, so I think that the test is not reliable at all. I also have lots of grey hair that I dye, mostly with natural colour, and its structure is coarse, dry and kinky. They are pretty much unmanageable. I have learned that the core of grey hair is empty so I thought that I may need a treatment with proteins that can penetrate the cuticula and go to fill the gaps inside to add substance and moisture.
Revitaluxe is a good mix of very small sized proteins and lots of peptides and amino acids which can penetrate the hair shaft very well and also have moisturizing properties. I have also seen what a peptide face cream has done with my eye brows: after only two weeks of use many hair started to re-grow where there were gaps, so that I no longer need a pencil to fill the gaps.
So far I’m quite happy with RevitaLuxe. The scent is very strong and it linger for a while during the day. I don’t like it much but I can bear it. The consistency is very thick, it doesn’t have much slip, it doesn’t detangle well so sometime I follow up with a basic but good detangling moisturizing conditioner. After towel drying my hair I didn’t notice any difference but once they were completely dry I could see and feel the difference.
It doesn’t make my hair overly soft but undeniably stronger and very smooth even without blow drying or straightening. My feeling was that my hair was heavier, maybe weight down a bit but a short look in the mirror showed me that I had healthy volume and a nice bounce, exactly like my “virgin hair” would – as far as I can remember.
The price for 150 ml is high compared to drugstore products but it is still in the range of other professional brands. BTW the newly reformulated Conditioner of the K-PAK line, the REVITALISANT conditioner (see my review), is the same but lighter version for a lower price and more product, it could be an alternative if your hair is not in really bad conditions or for daily usage.
