This was my beauty find of 2017. I love this product. It’s light pink, very thick (almost solid), and creamy with particles of Himalayan salt throughout, and it smells of Bragg’s apple cider vinegar. About the scent–if you’ve ever smelled Bragg’s, you know that it smells like a slightly funkier version of your average ACV. However, I tolerate the scent very well (unusual for me), and it lingers only slightly after rinsing (less than using a vinegar rinse alone). I have a chin-length choppy bob. dpHUE recommends using 1-2 tbsp. per treatment, but I find that I need much, much less–maybe half a tablespoon. I wet my hair, pick up a little of the scrub, and put dabs of it all over my scalp. Then I start to work it through my hair, adding a little water if necessary, and massaging it into my scalp until the salt is dissolved (it’s quicker and easier than it sounds). It blooms into the loveliest, creamiest lather–I was very pleasantly surprised by this the first time i used it. I leave it on for the duration of my shower, then rinse it out. (dpHUE recommends following with their ACV rinse, but I don’t find that necessary.) My hair and scalp feel so great after using this–super clean and refreshed–and my hair is shiny and fluffy-clean. I use it once every week or two depending on how often I’m using product in my hair (it is the ultimate clarifier). Using it more often can be drying, although I don’t find it so with occasional use. I think each person will find their own preferred way to use this–shampoo before, shampoo after, conditioner after, etc.–but if you have scalp issues or use a lot of styling products or just want a refreshing scalp scrub, this is the best, IMO. It is pricey at $38 for 9 oz., but now that I’ve found the optimal amount and interval for me to use this, a jar will easily last me 6 months (and I got it during one of Ulta’s 20% off sales). The jar is plastic and has a wide mouth, so it’s very easy to scoop the product out. (If you hate jars, you can scoop some into a smaller container.) This immediately became a staple for me, and I can’t imagine being without it now. I will continue to repurchase. (Please see the ingredients at the ingredient link above.)
