Been getting my natural level 3 ash hair colored at a Paul Mitchell Salon to a 6ch mixed with 5r for over 6 months now. My hair is shinier than ever and very conditioned. I had thick, chunky highlights before this that I tried coloring over with something from Sally’s with a 10 developer on the blonde and 20 developer for my virgin hair. It only left my hair slightly conditioned but didn’t really affect my virgin hair and the blonde faded back very orangey. This Paul Mitchell color covers thoroughly and fades very evenly. I use Paul Mitchell’s Color Craft which is a color depositing hair mask to maintain my red tones and only wash my hair once a week for reference.

My overall rating of Paul Mitchell the Color is a 4 for two reasons, the reds are not as poppin as the Color XG and the tubes constantly get punctured by the color keys :(. If it weren’t for those two things, Paul Mitchell the Color would receive a 5 overall. The colors, with the exception or the reds, true to tone and create beautiful, consistent results time after time. This is the color line I use primarily is the salon and love it. I absolutely cannot say enough about the Ultra Toners offered in this color line. Everyone will tone out perfectly. The UTP will tone out an unwanted yellow tones to create a true and perfect platinum color, for example. This color has excellent longevity and rarely needs to be refreshed by a demi or clear between services. This hair color is moisturizing as well because it is formulated with beeswax which is a natural humectant. Although this color does contain ammonia it is formulated to have a low ammonia content which I love. Another positive to this color is when mixed with Paul Mitchell Clear Developers a little bit goes a long way. You can get excellent saturation with what feels like less product used which is excellent for product management, profits, and your clients pockets (and I am sure they appreciate that as well). You can achieve a couple of levels of lift with any shade in this color line using a 20 vol or higher developer or use it as a deposit only toner with 5 vol developer. I feel like this color line is so versatile. And for the final positive, absolutely none of Paul Mitchell’s products including their color is animal tested and JPMS does amazing charity work. Not only does JPMS create amazing products they are helping create change within the world! I couldn’t be more proud to utilize a company like JPMS!

Does anyone have an ingredient list for this product? I need to check if it has something I am allergic to.
Thanks 🙂

I love this color line by Paul Mitchell. I have stubborn resistant gray and this colors it no problem and leaves my hair soft, glossy and shiny like no other color has done. Plus it is gluten free which is important to me.

I’ve been getting my hair colored at a Paul Mitchell salon for about 6 months now and have to say I really like this color. I have stubborn resistent gray hair, and a mix of 5N and 6N does a wonderful job covering the gray. The resulting color is a warm rich vibrant SHINY medium brown color. It does fade slightly between appointment (every 4 weeks because my hair grows so quickly). My hair fees very healthy after my appointment. The N shades are a bit warmer than I expected, but I really like the warm tones and would otherwise have them mix in some warm brown, but I don’t need to. Ladies who want to avoid warm should probably go with the ash shades.

My hairdresser has been using this on my hair for abot a year now.(Highlights & lowlights). It has made a huge difference with my hair, it does not get dry or change colors as time goes by. I also use the shampoo and I think that makes a difference also.

it is very gentle on the hair but especially on the blond tones it doesn’t cover at all the gray hair as you can expect from a dye

I use this at the salon i work in and i have learned to hate it. its hard to mix, doesnt always cover gray/ white hair, fades fast, you have to mix a few different colors just to get one that looks close to the swatch, or to match what the client has. Some client allergic to bee’s have a reaction due to the bee’s wax. The only way it goes on smooth is if i mix clear devolper and cream devolper.. i was VERY let down by this. although i love the PM shines line.
