I really wish you could just buy the bottle of color without the bleach (as I do not use it) in a larger size! … This color is great for people like me that started getting streaks of white at a young age (thank you mom for the premature graying lol) I started to get white hairs in my mid 20’s… It used to really bother me. Now at 36 my hair is heavily streaked with white. The one good thing is that I no longer have to bleach out highlights to color! Lol…. I absolutely LOVE the tonal dimensions I get using the Lusty Lavender! My white streaks are a vibrant purple as they would be had I heavily bleached away all color and my darker (light-med brown) hair is a dark deep purple with the even darker hair underneath looking almost black with a purple tint and the color holds up extremely well only needing root touch ups for the most part. I only fully refresh my whole head once every 2-3 months, but I only wash my hair twice a week as I have always had dry hair. I wash and rinse with cool water and condition.
Anyone that is having their hair come out pink and not purple or is having it wash out and fade too quickly did not leave it in long enough. It needs to be left in at the very least an hour, 2 would be preferable (Not the bleach, after the bleach. Just the color). Remember, these colors are a stain, not a dye with corrosive stuff like peroxide or ammonia in the coloring to make it sink in faster and adhere to the follicles so time is your friend in this situation! I personally leave it in for a few hours give or take. Usually on a weekend while I’m cleaning house and stuff. I just apply it liberally to my scalp then brush it through, loosely pin my hair up on my head and cover with a shower cap and forgot about it. By the time I’m done cleaning and doing laundry and such its usually been 3-4 hours easy then we have supper and watch a movie. Half the time I apply it in the morning and leave it until I shower that night. That is probably too extreme for most people but it’s just what works for me as I am home doing stuff around the house anyway. I have never had any issues with fading or it coming out the wrong color.

I died my whole head (natural blonde) with this purple Splat product in July of 2017. With it now being April of 2019 I still have purple hair on the underside of my hair. I have professionally had it bleached and redone twice since my home remedy with this product, and I still have purple stained hair. I would not recommend this product to anyone that does not want to have this colour in their hair for years to come. I went to the same hairdresser and she was shocked that it was still in my hair after nearly two solid years.

I have tried every purple hair color out there. I had two different beauty salon try purple that washed out in 3 days. I’ve purchased every purple brand hair color I can find getting several from Hot Topic all the different brands that Sally’s Beauty Supply had etc. My husband brought home the Splat Lusty lavender as a surprise, I rolled my eyes and thought it would last two days best. I am shocked that I’ve had bright vibrant purple hair for a month and a half. Last night I finally touched up my roots. I am shocked at how well this color did and there is nothing that compares to this color! I am extremely satisfied.
Tips:
I left the color on for 2 hours.
When you rinse it is impossible to get clear water. Just do your best and protect surfaces from wet hair.
When you get the color on your skin use and abrasive soap and it comes right off. (I use a charcoal soap from Posh)
If you want the vibrant purple and you have dark hair you have to bleach it first.
I put the color on thick to be sure my hair is covered, because of that I need two boxes for all over color.
With a touch up on roots I only used what I needed, reseal the color, and I’ll use the rest for the next touch up.

I love this stuff. I bought it on sale at Wal-Mart, frankly, expecting the worst.
It’s easy to use. It comes with a bleach that works. I have very dark brown hair, and this stuff will, without damaging my hair or burning my scalp, take it to blonde. I dyed my whole head. The dye doesn’t have to be mixed, just snip off the tip of the bottle and start applying.
I dye my hair outside to avoid getting purple on anything in my bathroom, but I have to say, this product is a little misleading on how easy it is to get the dye out of things. It’s easier than they say. If you get it on your skin, you have about 5-10 minutes to remove it with alcohol before it sets. Clothes? Ha. I accidentally spilled purple dye on the jeans I was wearing. I instantly gave up and figured the dye ruined them. Over a week later, I got around to actually washing them. The dye almost COMPLETELY washed out. All that was left was a faint purple mark you only noticed when you were looking for it.
Moving on: The product says to rinse until water comes off clear. Let me tell you right now, that won’t happen. I rinsed my hair for 45 minutes, the water was still running faintly purple. But that’s okay. Seriously. Once mixed with water, this dye washes out of everything with no hint it was ever there. While your hair is wet, it will color things, your shirt, the towel you use to dry it, a pillowcase, etc. But it all washes out with no extra effort. Just toss it in the wash and the color is gone.
If you press it into your scalp, which you will to get the roots properly, it does leave weird splotches on your scalp. Your hairline will look wonky and weird. I personally wait 24 hours before I take a shower after rinsing out the dye, and I just make sure to scrub my hairline for a few minutes. The splotches scrub right off. Totally worth it. You hair will be a beautiful lush purple. I’ve had people outright not believe it’s a DIY kit. They insist it’s salon-quality.
If you go swimming, logically, it makes sense; the color fades quickly. If you don’t go swimming in chlorinated water? It lasts about 3 months. I left the color on for one hour, and by the time I felt the need to re-do the color, it was more because of my roots showing than the color fading out. I do feel the need to warn you, when the color fades from this, it doesn’t fade to light purple, it fades to pink. Which I LOVE, but others don’t.
Every time I start to think it’s looking faded and washed out, I go out with it in public and people compliment me on how beautiful it is. From the day I use it, and it’s a dark, lush purple, to the days it fades into pink, people are constantly telling me how much they love my hair. Little kids love it, people stop and asked me what I used, they’re SHOCKED when I say it’s a Wal-Mart kit, I routinely get asked what salon I went to. One woman stopped and asked me and balked when I told her the price of it, she’d been spending 80-90 dollars for dye jobs that didn’t look half as bright or last nearly as long.
Overall, I love this product. It’s wonderful quality, it’s a beautiful color and I would highly recommend it to everyone.

Love this hair dye! It’s a pretty pink color on my hair with a little bit of purple. It’s a different color than the box but its okay because I love the color 🙂

I bought Splat in Purple Desire. After the FIRST wash, I can see the bleached strands. It stains everything and runs like crazy. Ridiculously bad.

Doesn’t last long, fades quick unless your hair is really light before you apply it.
I put this over orange hair, the orange turned maroon while my blonde parts of my hair are bright purple.
