   As much as I love the concept of an ammonia-free hair color, truth be told I have yet to find one that lasts a decent amount of time when it comes to covering my grays. This isn’t it… although using this did have its advantages too! I got it in shade 3 – dark brown and followed the instructions, leaving in for just over 30 minutes before rinsing it out. I made sure to follow with one of the Phyto shampoos specifically designed to use on color-treated hair (Phytomillesime) too, once all the dye was out and the water was running clean. Despite that I still noticed the grays starting to appear after only 2-3 weeks and I don’t know whether I have the time nor inclination to keep re-applying this every few weeks, especially as it doesn’t come cheap! On the plus side it’s a super-gentle formula that didn’t irritate my scalp the way regular hair colors do and my scalp and my hair felt much healthier than they normally would post-dye, none of the usual scalp redness or flaking.

   First of all, I want to say that I am a huge fan of Phyto products in general. I have used many over the years and their Phyto 7 cream is something I always have at hand. Many of their conditioners, deep treatments and shampoos are amazing. So I had high hopes for the colour. Positives: it was easy to use and didnt feel super chemically. Downsides – and the reason why I will never use this again – it turned my naturally neutral, mousy blonde into a slightly reddish blonde. I absolutely abhor reddish tones in my blonde hair and always go with neutral or beige. So disappointed. Have been waiting to go back to my demi permanent Wella Highlift colour which gives a great result, sadly as a demi permanent doesnt last that long but stays true to colour. Now I have to find a way to colour correct my longish hair. Sigh.

   EDIT:
   It has been a month since dying my hair. The color is still going on strong! I love it. The warm neutral sheen is still present from my roots all down to the ends.
   Recommend the dye!

   OLD REVIEW:
   It’s a shame there aren’t many reviews for this color. I am on my day 8 since coloring my hair.

   I bought the shade 7; my natural hair is between 6 and 7 (dark blond/light brown). I colored my hair for 2 years now every 1-3 months using the L’Oreal 7.1 Excellence.
   Prior I was doing every three months highlights for two years at hairdressers. After those two years I noticed my hair got dried out and overly blond at the ends; starting from my shin to the middle of my back. It looked although like an ombré really unkept.
   I decided to use Phyto since I couldn’t find a semi-perm at my local drugstore departments and didn’t want to cash out too much money every few months at the hairdressers.
   I have long hair, middle of my back. I’m 28 years. No greys yet.

   What I didn’t like about the Excellence line:
   Whilst I loved the color and the conditener that comes with it it felt like it was heavily drying for my hair. It didn’t last long (~2 months; then my lower part of hair started getting the ombré look).
   Even worse results I received with 7.1 Preference which lasted for just a month when it got back to square one.

   What I like about Phyto:
   It’s not that I was into the all natural thing I thought it may be more conditioning for the hair, even if I had to recolor it every 1-2 months. Sadly the price is 2x of Excelence.
   The color ended up being the color I wanted. Although it doesn’t have that pear finish I usually was into (.1) the natural undertone didn’t pick up my red pigment that is present in my natural hair.
   After keeping it for a little bit longer on my hair, my hair didn’t feel like straw.
   The bottle is ok but I had to cut it since there is 20 ml less that in L’Oreal dyes. I bought one packaging as per usual.
   The conditioner is not worth mentioning as it comes in sample size so I used my L’Oreal conditioner which I had still left from my previous dying. I used the conditioner as a mask for 30 mins.
   I washed it only once with Plant 21 since coloring. I have itchy scalp with thinning hair. It didn’t wash our the color which seems to be the problem with this shampoo.

   For now I would recommend the dye since it was pleasant to use (no teary eyes, semi-silky outcome, desired look and color).
   I added the photo of my hair – sorry for the picture not being perfect. This is the color / photo taken next morning after the application. One picture is how my colored hair used to look, how it looked after the application and wash, and how it looked dry.

   I used to like Casting but they do not offer the shade which may be internationally sold: cold dark blond.

   I love the range of colors and the application was amazing – no stinging or burning, no foul smell, no dripping or mess in the bathroom at all. The color I got was Chatain, and it was lovely – a cool, dark brown that covered up my previous brassy/orangey/dark blonde dye job.

   I loved the color/look of this on day one, however, it fades. fast. And that made me really sad. It’s still there but I can see the brassiness and lighter color coming through and I colored my hair 25 days ago. Considering the fact that hair dye does damage my hair, I would rather not have to color as often. For that reason alone, I wouldn’t repurchase. I’m very tempted to go for black and see how it fades but that’s a risk I’m not willing to take my third time around.

   Looks like it’s back to L’Oreal Excellence Creme for me. The colors run very dark but there’s no fear of fading at all. It’s my failsafe color.

   Phytocolor is the best choice to dye your hair at home. Its formula consists of the herbal ingredients and contains a very low amount of peroxyde. Colour scale of the line is rich for a highly organic dying product. Colour choices are really elegant and nice. I sometimes mix different colours and I am contented with the results. I think that dying with phytocolor is also a kind of treatment for my hair. Eventhough I sometimes go to a salon or use products like naturtint, I always regret of my choice and go back to Phytocolor. This is the safest choice for the look and helath of my hair.
