I’ve tried L’Oreal and Salon root products and only Everpro did not come off on my fingertips. The color is a decent match even if the range appears to be more limited than other brands. The application is well-targeted.

I bought this to compare with Style Edit Root Concealer, which costs $25 at salons; it is currently $17.50 on Amazon (Nov 2017). The Everpro Gray Away is around $10 or $11 at drugstores and you get 1.5 oz (around $7.33/oz), compared to 2.0 oz of Style Edit ($12.50/oz at salons, $8.75/oz on Amazon). Basically they have VERY similar formulas and work exactly the same. I think they are both okay but not great value, because you do not get very much. But when you have a serious time-crunch emergency, like an important event and your roots are showing but you do not have time to touch them up, this will save your life.
The instructions tell you to shake the can frequently and spray with the pinpoint spray nozzle. And here are some additional tips. Make sure you know where the nozzle is pointed and spray in short bursts from an angle to where your hair needs coverage, so more gray gets covered and the spray isn’t concentrated in one spot. It really does blend into your hair and is not perceptible.
You are supposed to apply AFTER you have finished styling your hair. I do it after I have used hairspray to set. And then you are not supposed to touch it for 3-4 minutes. I’ve had no problems with transfer. I have slept with it in my hair and it does not transfer to my white pillowcase. I have not had it drip, run or smudge with minor workouts. I have not been caught in the rain with it. If you scratch your scalp near where your roots have been sprayed, it will probably get on your fingernail, but I have not had transfer with running my fingers or a comb through it. It stays in your hair until you shampoo it out.
I will probably buy this over Style Edit only because the Everpro is virtually the same thing and it is far more easy to get everywhere. Style Edit is available only at salons at the $25 price or on Amazon for about $8 less. The Everpro is not really a better deal, but sometimes there are coupons, especially if you buy at Bed Bath & Beyond.
My hair is between Light and Medium Ash Brown, and I can use anything between Medium Brown and Light Brown/Dark Blonde with Everpro Gray Away. I plan to try the L’Oreal version of this soon and will update with a comparison.

This was disappointing for me. It seems easy to apply, but it’s not and it was hard to direct the color to my hairline grays without getting it all over. Also it doesn’t dry fast and when it does it dries stiff, so you can’t brush it through your hair to make it look more natural. Very chemical-odor too and you’re breathing it in because of the spray. Might work for someone with more patience or less worry about their breathing health. Guess I’ll stick with brush mascara type color for my grays.

Ever had a last minute dinner to go to 3 days before your color appointment & that clairol root touch up has officially died an ugly ugly death? Ya I’ve beent here and I’ve tried several products to cover grays for emergencies between touch ups and hated them all. marker types were a PIA to work with and stained more scalp than hair and the waxed based ones made my hair feel disgusting and stiff and looked like crap. This product is a spray on concealer in only two shade selections that promised to hide grays, not be messy stiff or sticky as well as sweat and tranfer resistant and lasts until you shampoo it out. It’s an as seen on TV product but I’ve never seen it on TV. I found it at Walgreens in the haircolor aisle and bought it because it was relatively cheap at under $10 and I needed a fast fix plus I could return it with no hassles if it sucked. My first impression was that this applied quickly and pretty easily as long as you don’t hold it too close to your scalp, keep it moving and shake the can often. I have grays that come in within a week of coloring right at my hair line and this blended them in nicely without making my hair feel gross. There is a barely perceptible residue that reminds me of some heat protection sprays I’ve used but hair still feels soft and you can comb or run your fingers through your hair without the nasty feeling that other gray cover ups leave behind. Don’t run your finger through your hair for 10 minutes or so after applying. It may feel dry but the color will transfer onto your fingers I usually run a comb or brush through after it’s set to remove any excess. I’ve not mastered this product yet and might be applying a little more than necessary. The can has a spray nozzle tip so it’s easy to target only the area you want to cover however it does spray hard and can be easy to overdo. If you get some on your skin it wipes off easily but I’ve had no problems with over spray on my bath fixtures or clothes and I have a really small bathroom. This does get all over your fingertips and you’ll have to wash them well to get it off if it’s on there too long. As for sweat and transfer resistance this is an important factor for me since I live in the south and can break a sweat just getting in the car now that the weather has warmed up. I wore this to an early evening practice for one of my kids in ridiculous humidity and was sweating 10 minutes in. This did not run, however it did transfer when I patted my face with a towel near my hairline. I did notice a very small amount of transfer on my pillow case the next morning each time I’ve used but my hair still looked the same. The color didn’t seem to have worn off at all. This was available at Walgreens in only 2 shade ranges, Black to Deep Medium Brown which is supposed to match black hair, dark brown hair and deep- medium brown hair, They also had a Light Brown that’s supposed to be good for dark blonde, light brown and medium brown hair colors. I have medium to deep brown hair and the darker shade blended perfectly and was very forgiving. I knocked a lippie off for sweat/ transfer issues since I don’t think I’d be comfortable wearing this to the many out door sporting events I have to attend but overall this is a great option to extend time between salon visits and still look good when it counts. The can is small but is supposed to contain 40 applications. I doubt that but if I get 20 out of it than it’s a better bargain than a $10 box of root touch up that starts looking like crap in less than a week. In winter during milder weather I can see this being an HG product for extending time between salon visits.
