I like this stuff. I think the problem is the instructions… I would not use it with a flat iron (they are freaking damaging on their own). I spray it on, then just use a blow dryer on a hot but not TOO hot setting, and it lightens nicely without damaging, and I have bleached hair so it easily could. They should stop telling people to use a sizzling flat iron on it… yikes. But the blow dryer works well with it, at least for me!

I got this at a discount store for 50 cents. It must have been discontinued because this is all that store carries . This product did nothing for me. I turned down flat iron to 350 because made my hair very hot that I couldn’t touch it. And you need swipe flat dryer several times that’s hard to do when your hair is too hot to touch.

Horrible product!! Don’t ever use this!! It ruined my hair. It works, it lightens your hair but it fried my hair to the point of no return. I had it cut almost all off and I have bangs now and the bangs are fried. I’ve bought about 50 plus hair care products trying to fix it. nothing works. God only knows how long it will take for my hair to be healthy again. I feel so ugly, it’s pretty bad and there’s nothing I can do to fix it. Can’t shave it all off!

I had highlighted my hair and thought my hair was beginning to look dull. Went to ulta and this was recommended to me. The application process is super easy but I would recommend doing this in a well ventilated area. It doesn’t really have a smell but my eyes started watering and burning as the steam from the flat iron was near my face. I know it says the steam and everything is normal but I’m pretty sure it just meant my hair was being fried. I didn’t notice a difference and my hair felt so fried and parched after using this. It was a waste of money.

I should begin with some background before I go into this. I’ve been using sun-in to lighten my hair “naturally” for years. I use sun in and the blow dryer to lighten the hair. Recently, stores in my area of Ontario, Canada have stopped selling Sun-In, so i’ve had to find a substitute. I’ve used this product once before and was only so-so with the results. I usually only use it in the spring/summer lighten my hair overall.
I don’t mind this product the second time around, for me, it worked fast on my natural hair, which is about halfway down my head, and did not work as well on the dyed hair, but I am okay with having some highlights at the top of my head and around my face.
PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS WITH A STRAIGHTENER. It FRIES you hair. the first time I used this a few years ago I did as directed and heard that sizzling and saw immediate results but also saw immediate damage. Now, I use this the same way as sun in- I spray it in my damp hair before drying and then blow dry it. It does give more subtle results and will need more applications but it is much less damaging to your hair than frying it and hearing that sizzle.
I wanted to post this because it DOES work, but I would not recommend using it the way it is intended, it is just too hard on hair.
I hope this helps for anyone on the fence about buying it. It is significantly more money here in canada than sun in was–Sun-In cost about 4.50 a bottle and I bought this at Shoppers for 12.99, but it does the trick.

Okay, now my “natural” hair color is as about as dark as espresso but I’m a light neutral-ashy bleached blonde. When my regrowth comes in it’s like I’m a skunk! I bleached my hair & touch up my own roots (by the way my hair is long and soft, not fried). I touched up my roots last night & because of the natural heat from my scalp got “hot roots”, my hair was lighter on top tan on the “ponytail” part. I almost put it through yet another damaging process with toner and peroxide to even it out. I was at walgreens and decided to give this stuff a whirl. I dampend the darker part of my hair and sprayed this stuff on the darker part after brushing it though, I used gloves & it didn’t smell great but was much more tolerable than bleach or toner. I blow dryed the heck out of it especially on my ends and voila! Fixed in one go. I haven’t washed it I only re-dampened the part I applied it to as yes it was a bit dry (duh) then applied this expensive spray (also from walgreens @ $20+ a bottle) to the damp part and combed through- worked like a charm! I may do it another time or two to refresh. I hope it helps regrowth too. Again, I would say for blondes (or whatever 7 lift or higher) only though.

Okay let me start off by saying that this product is so terrible. I hate it & I will return it. I don’t usually like returning products, but this stuff is so shit that yes, I want my 8 bucks back. I got this at Walmart, thinking hey, that’s a great way to kind of ombre my hair without damaging it that much. I watched a couple demo videos on YouTube & it worked for all of them- at least the ones i watched. My hair colour is dark brown, but it’s naturally jet black. I tried it for the first time with a cheap straightener and it did nothing. I was like okay maybe, I need a more expensive straightener that gets a bit hotter. But I was wrong it still did nothing. Again, I thought hey, maybe it needs to be soaking wet for it to work, but you guessed it.. It did nothing. I tried to do it several times to see if it works after a few applications but again I was wrong. At the end, I just have up because my hair looked & felt like it was so brittle & weak. I mean I understand that this has hydrogen peroxide in it but I think even if I just put plain hydrogen peroxide in my hair it would give me better results & wouldn’t damage my hair as much. I really wish this worked, cause it really is a great concept.

I’ll start off by saying I have extremely thick, jet black hair. This product worked wonders for me. I didn’t want anything too dramatic and I wasn’t willing to spend $100+ for something that I didn’t want. I ended up doing a light ombre which went great. Since my hair is really dark, I did use most of the bottle but considering how much I lightened and how light it actually got, it was worth it. It looks great in the sun and certain types of lighting. Beware though, it might damage your hair (and I say might because mine turned out fine). Just deep condition afterwards and you should be fine. Also, make sure that you know what you’re doing and that you’re sure you want lightened hair. There are no go backs with this one.
