It’s an oil-based formula that, according to Redken, will give you multi-dimensional color and will make your hair two times stronger. I was able to achieve a natural-looking (like I was born with it) color in the shade and a half lighter than my virgin hair color by mixing Redken Chromatics 7N (3/4) with Chromatics Blue (1/4). The combination gave me a natural neutral light brown, dark blonde.
If you want to go very blonde from the somewhat darker shade, Chromatics isn’t for you. It won’t significantly lighten the hair since it doesn’t have ammonia. Also, Chromatics works only on virgin hair; you’ll need to use Shades EQ for the previously colored part to refresh the color.
When I used Chromatics on its own, my hair felt very dry and had zero shine. I start mixing it with pH-Bonder, and the combination of two gives me virgin-like hair quality with no fail. Impressive!
Chromatics is known to work great on grey hair, unfortunately, it doesn’t cover the few that I have. It only blends them a bit with the rest.
It worth trying if you’re looking to improve the quality of your hair, but only with the pH-Bonder kit.
