This is a temporary spray-in, wash-out colorant for lightened hair. Rather than being like a spray paint type formula temporary color, as you often see at Halloween, this is a liquid formula that you spray on dry or damp hair to saturation and then blow dry to set. This Schwarzkopf Blush line is of pastels (including purple/silver, blue and green); I used the strawberry/light pink version.
My hair is balayage lightened and not extremely light; a lighter brown base with a helping of golden highlights. I sprayed this all over the highlighted portions and it showed up really nicely. You don’t need to be platinum to have this work, though I doubt it would show much on anything darker than a dirty blonde. The color is quite pretty. A soft, rosy true pink.
Happily, the color rinses out as easily as it described. I washed my hair three times to see if I could get it all out in one shower and when I dried my hair all the pink was gone and there was no residue or impact to my existing toner/color. Depending on the porosity of your hair it may take more or less washing to remove the color. I just used my regular shampoo and it worked fine. It doesn’t seem to have caused any damage either. Furthermore, while it is definitely advisable to wear gloves and an old shirt you don’t care about when using this, it did rinse off of my counters and sink with just water on a cloth. The bottle has a spray pump that works well. Depending on the length and thickness of your hair, you could get quite a few uses out of the bottle. As I said, I saturated from the middle to the ends of my hair with the spray and my hair is more than halfway down my back and I still have about three quarters of the bottle left.
However, the reason I don’t rate this higher is because of the texture it leaves your hair when it is on. The spray on and blow dry formula leaves hair feeling sticky and rough. It is difficult to style well and definitely isn’t soft or “run your fingers through” touchable. Much worse than a dry shampoo or even a texturizing spray, this colorant leaves hair feeling somewhat matted, as well as looking matte and generally unclean. I can’t deal with that feeling, especially because I almost always wear my hair down. If you’re good with a messy look/feel and/or doing an updo or braids with this, the residual feeling it leaves may not be as much of an issue.
This is just my experience. Depending on your hair, your experience may vary, obviously. Patch tests are always advisable when it comes to new hair and skin products of course.
