I have not paid much attention to Creed so far, let alone purchased anything from that line. Over the years I sampled a few of them here and there, but was not impressed enough to purchase a full bottle. And for some reason, I realized I had never tested Virgin Island Water when I read a rave review about it on a perfume blog. It made me curious to check it out in person and I was very surprised to find this Creed simply wonderful! To my nose, there is no comparison to most other “beachy” scents, and it also lasts very well on my skin. On me, Virgin Island Water has a fresh soft citrus opening, not unlike Sublime Vanille, but already in the beginning there is a delicious toasted coconut note, and then over the next few hours the scent settles into a balanced rhythm of rum, coconut and breezy bergamot and soft jasmine. It really is quite heavenly. There is nothing cheap about this, no Coppertone note either. I sprayed it on at the counter and it lasted until evening and it kept getting better, impressive. I bought a full bottle the next day. Like anything Creed it is very expensive but I completely concur with another reviewer who called this a happy scent.

I have a new dead stock manufacturers sample. It is a good beach scent, but I don’t want to spend the same amount of money on a beach scent as on a niche modern or historic Guerlain or Caron. I don’t have a beach lifestyle, but I think this might be nice for someone who does. Then again, that person might also be just as happy with EL Bronze Goddess or Bobbi Brown Beach for far less money.
If you have a large perfume wardrobe, the creed bottles are just too big to be used in a lifetime (I prefer to dab sparingly). If I did decide to spend on a Creed, I would be more likely to go for a more versatile (three season ) one that has the delectable Creed base of ambergris, sandalwood and musk.
Since both Bois de Jasmin perfume blog and MUA reviewer jerseycindy below mention that there is a Bath and body works dupe of this, namely coconut lime verbena, I am inclined to recommend hunting for the dupe to compare. VIW didn’t dry down as sweet on my skin chemistry as it appears it did for jerseycindy.
Note: in two separate reviews below, one referred to an actual curry aroma in VIW and the second one said that VIW was similar to Goutals Nuits de Hadrian. This gave me pause because Nuits de Hadrian actually has a pronounced curry note on me, but thankfully there is none here with VIW. I assume that is skin chemistry dependent (I can wear cumin, sulfuric grapefruit or Cassie bud, e.g., Guerlain Pamplelune or FM UFdC). Hypothetical curry aside, I personally don’t find much similarity between Nuits de Hadrian (warmer citrus, no coconut) and VIW.

I have no words! This perfume is amazing, at least on me. I have never smelled something that made me so happy. I love, love, love this perfume. It is warm and coconut-y without being cloying or cheap-smelling.
The only downside is that it seems to disappear quickly on me. And for $300 a bottle, I just can’t justify reapplying!

Overpowering coconut scent! I don’t like the smell nor taste of coconut and I was highly disappointed by this scent. Full blown headache for me!

I looooooovvvvvvveee this! It’s sweet lime, warm coconut, deep rum. It’s clean, Caribbean, sunshiny, mellow an absolute delight
I start with zesty lime, move in to toasted coconut and bask in deep rum, on me it lasts for hours
For the summer I think, delicious and definitely a favourite

I am in LOVE but also in utter sadness because this is $140 for an ouce…an OUNCE.
I got a decanted one from the perfumed court. Hopefully it was the real thing because it was smelled great…but not of coconuts!
It starts off very fresh, picture a cool tropical lagoon with a waterfall and a hot cabana boy handing you a shot of rum with a juicy bright lime and a glass of sparkling water. The dry down is a very subtle lime almost floral and a tiny bit of musk.
I really love this scent and I’m just soo pissed that it costs so freakin much! BUT I guess I could just decant my way for this fragrance.

When I set out to find a new fragrance I didn’t plan on spending quite as much as I ended up doing. Considering the price this fragrance is very subtle, I have to spray four sprays on, and make sure it hits some fabric, or it doesn’t last longer than a few hours (the first 15 minutes is rather abrupt, very limey, the first time I smelled it I thought of a citrus cleaner) . If I do make sure to get some on my shirt I spend the day in a wonderful, soft scent, not quite coconut, not quite lime. I love the feeling of floating in a fragrance. I like how soft and subtle this is for work, I don’t have to worry about offending anyone. For any other environment I’d prefer it to be a little more assertive.
It took my husband two days to decide he liked this on me. He said the thought of a coconut fragrance was too much for him. But it grew on him.
Overall a good purchase, but I’ll have to find another fragrance for not at work.

This is identical to B&BW Coconut Lime Verbena at about 15x the price. Same refreshing start and cloyingly sweet drydown.

My fragrance of the moment. Well, actually I’ve been using this almost exclusively for two years now. Living in the cold Nordics, the coconut and rum in this remind me of sunnier climes. I first smelled this on my mother and had to get a bottle for myself. The lime stands out when she wears it, but on me, I smell a sophisticated and delicious coconut.

I have to confess right off the bat that I bought a decant of this, because I’ve been burned wayyy too many times by descriptions and buying things unsniffed, so rather than forking over the cash for this and the other Creed I wanted to try (Acqua Fiorentina), I spent the 70 dollars at perfumed court. Anyhow! I absolutely love this. The coconut is warm and happy-making. I don’t get the suntan lotion connection at all, but it’s definitely a light, cheerful summery frag and I’m pretty sure I’m going to end up buying a bottle.
