It starts out great, as a strong, pretty floral, but within an hour it smelled like powder on me, and by hour three it was gone. I can see how it would be lovely on some people, but unfortunately it didn’t work with my body chemistry. It was not bad, but nor was it worth buying more of.

Demeter makes a better true LOTV scent. It smells okay, just not quite right. And maybe it was just me, but this smelled a little sour.

I use this at night to sleep. Its not strong and leaves a great fresh lilies scent on the skin.

I slathered this on my skin, expecting it to be a barely-there, delicate floral, but I was proven wrong – it’s got formidable strength, even if the sillage is modest.
Instead of a sharp or powdery floral, I would call this “creamy” or “sensual”. It’s a bright, clear Lily Of The Valley scent, grounded by a dash of sandalwood.
This lasts several hours on me, though I have to press my nose up to my wrist to smell it. It becomes warmer with time, more and more of the sandalwood emerging to temper the floral aspect.
All in all, beautiful. Simply mesmerizing, hypnotizing, romantic… I will never be without this one.

I couldn’t be more shocked! I thought when looking this up I’d find rave reviews. It just goes to show how fickle chemistry is. On me this is transcendant. One of the most beautiful florals I’ve ever smelled. It is both fresh and deep, complex and uplifting. I can see this as a young girl’s first perfume, as a bride’s choice of scent, a life loving middle aged woman’s fragrance, and a radiant older woman’s love. This will be my first new bottle this spring. Sublime………

I wore this a lot when I was about 14, sort of at my mom’s insistence. Even for a young girl, not very special. By no means is the fragrance generic. And yet it lacks any sort of joy or mystery. Scent to sensation correspondence: one of those marathon summer social events conducted under white tents with bland hors d’oevres, fold-up chairs, inadequate champagne in plastic flutes, boring silk dresses, and homely slingbacks. Dangerously tedious.

I really love Lily of the Valley soap from Penhaligon’s. But the Eau de Toilette of Lily of the Valley doesn’t have the same smell as the soap once I spray it on my skin.
It smells like I’m persperating or something 5 minutes after I put it on 🙁

great summer fragrance if you like an LOTV scent. Do get a soapy freshness as it progresses. Could skip perfume entirely and go straight for the lotion as it’s just as good plus moisturizes really well.

In case you do not wish to spend the money for the wonderful bottle alone, I`d advise you to look elsewhere for a lily of the valley scent.
The shop that sold this one to me promised “hidden depths, mystical quality”. The one who wrote this description must have been dazzeled by the bewitching bottle as well.
Although I put on quite an amount of it, it is barely detectable. At first, there indeed was a nice, faint, rather true lily of the valley scent without the added sweetness I do not like in many other lily of the valley scents. Not fife minutes later, this was almost completely replaced by something that manages to smell at the same time soapy and powdery. This scent is rather nice, but the same effect could be achieved by using a cheap soap and some body powder. Too much money for what you get.
To any lily of the valley-lover I suggest trying “Herba Fresca” by Guerlain, wich is not pure lily of the valley but has a beautiful lily of the valley base and is very unique and beautiful. I find more hidden depths and mystical quality in that one.
