Smells almost makeup-y in the bottle (a mood I really like) but on the skin a citrus note overpowers the creamy musky notes and smells like harsh edged grapefruit, or something that might scent a bathroom cleanser. Its not a pleasing combination. Nope.

This reminds me of an updated, more feminine version of Calvin Klein Obsession. I definitely smell amber and patchouli (as I do in Obsession), but mixed with something a bit lighter and less spicy/woodsy. Staying power is good, yet it’s not ever overpowering. Probably better suited to cooler weather.

I definitely detect a muskiness and I pick up the patchouli, and a very slight sweetness in the background of this. Definitely imo a ‘sexy’ type of perfume. This is a borderline unisex fragrance, IMHO. I feel like there are a lot of similar fragrances out there and in particular this reminds me especially of an Avon perfume that my mother used way back one time, maybe it was Avon Night Magic or Avon Rare Diamonds..? But this definitely to me is not a unique fragrance. It’s nice, but not anything that ‘stands out,’ but I still like this well enough.
Dry-down for me seems to turn a more masculine type of scent. I do see on fragrantica that this is voted to be predominantly a Fall season and a night time scent, and while I agree with that, I think this also could be fine for Summer and Winter. Definitely more of an evening scent imo. A lot of warmth to this, likely the amber note. Also, according to fragrantica, this rounds out with supposed white floral and rose notes/accords, and I can barely detect those notes, a very occasional whiff perhaps….but predominantly a warmth and a muskiness/woodiness/patchouli note to this. I do not see musk nor woody notes listed, but for me, that is what I pick up with this, and quite heavily. Overall it is pretty average to me, nothing about this stands out. The bottle is classy looking, is sort of plain. Lasts all day for me, so definitely excellent points for longevity. It is nice, but just nothing outstanding to me. If you do not care for woody or musky or patchouli or unisex scents, this might not be for you. But the warmth of this definitely makes it very nice for this time of year (Fall, and even for the upcoming Winter).

Gorgeous! Mmmm, the kind you can’t stop inhaling. Intoxicating! I’ve been sniffing this for an hour and am still swooning. Evocative, moody, and soulful. I like this soooo much better than original My Burberry EDP (which I was always lukewarm about).
An EDP, launched in Aug-Sept 2016, here are the notes of My Burberry Black, per parfumo.net:
Top Notes — Jasmine
Heart Notes — Candied rose, Peach nectar
Base Notes — Amber, Patchouli
Anything with “Black” or “Noir” in the name, and I’m there. This is described as a garden in a storm, and yes, I would agree with that imagery. The ad shows a model in trenchcoat, walking under an umbrella in the pouring rain in the dark. The fragrance has a light delectable sweetness mixed with the considerable sultriness of amber and patchouli.
This could also just be a “night” fragrance — like a beautiful, still, peaceful night in November under the stars. Would make a great Halloween night fragrance — and definitely a great Christmas Eve fragrance. Lovely, dark, & cloaking — delicious & stunning. Very moody, calming, and beautiful. This will be a Fall-Winter go-to for me, and I hope it’s not Limited Edition. Like many others, I think this flanker is way better than the original, and I hope it doesn’t become discontinued.
