This is my least favorite flanker of Elie Saab’s Girl of Now series. The original is a warm and cozy almond vanilla with orange blossom accents; Girl of Now Shine is transparent in comparison to that and the gourmand aspect is tamed; and in Girl of Now Forever it is lost completely. This flanker is a fruity floral and IMO not a really special one.
It opens with in-your-face raspberries, plump and sweetish blackcurrants and a bit of lemon,with a transparent but recognizable honey note lurking in the background. Tartness and sweetness are nicely balanced but there is nothing in the opening that makes it more special than any other fruity floral at better price ranges. The heart has just a touch of almond if I pay attention but again, its absence would not change much for this fragrance. I also get shiny but boring orange blossoms and some clean patchouli which adds a welcome coolness and perhaps darkness to Girl of Now Forever – just a little bit though, perhaps enough to make it a designer perfume.
The drydown is not pleasant at all on my skin. Some musk and cashmeran that don’t have the coziness of other bottles from the series. There is something very synthetic and plasticky in it through and through. I have nothing against artificial and synthetic smells if I think they are making a statement in a perfume. Here, the only feeling I get is that one does not have to go to Ellie Saab to buy something easily available at better prices.
It feels like Girl of Now Forever was released just to add a fruity floral flanker to the series. Even the name feels hasty – like the Avon today tomorrow always whenever etc etc. Actually, I think some perfumes in that series are much better than this.
