Bright brisk spices, reminding me a bit of the cheaper (and discontinued, I think) Pacifica’s Tibetan Mountain Temple. Sort of a light, spice incense blend, more clove than cinnamon (thank goodness, coz I amp cinnamon and don’t love it.) Very nice.

BasiaS said it all in her review.
It seems a bit linear to me, doesn’t change a whole lot.
the notes are:
top: Eucalyptus cardamom, cinnamon, mace.
Heart: Turkish rose, jasmine, orange.
Base: Incense, woods, resins, spices, vanilla, tonka bean
(from the Penhaligon’s site)
I wore this in the heat of summer, it blooms wonderfully. In autumn and winter it becomes more “contemplative” but still complex.
If you go by the notes it might seem dark and dense but it has a vapour like quality to it that I find hard to resist.

Overall this is amazing EDT it has really distinctive smell of it own, so unique! It’s remind me of my grandmother. I bought it without sniff , really dare to !! When it arrived I put it on my wrist and so amazed that after many years why I never ever smell this scents anywhere before on high street, but i can smell my grandmother’s bedroom which I like it. It’s smell of my childhood and I love that, because it’s so different from any others on street, also you will never get this scents anywhere if you have worn it yourself. It’s amazing standout scents, if you like to be different, I reckon Elixir from penhaligon’s

Agreed that this scent deserves a higher average! We’ll start with the notes listed by perfumer: eucalyptus, cardamom, orange blossom absolute, white cedar, red Turkish rose absolute, Egyptian jasmine absolute, cinnamon leaves, mace, rosewood, benzoin, tonka beans, vanilla, incense, red sandalwood, guaicum wood. That was quite the list of notes, huh? No wonder it took me several wears to get a proper feel for this fragrance. It kept shifting on me, like an alluring but opaque fog, seldom letting me settle on any one note. What I finally came away with, however, is church incense in a delicate, ethereal kind of way. I picture an ancient cathedral in a beautiful Italian city, tolling its bells for Mass on a misty Christmas Eve, and (when I’m wearing Elixir) can envision myself as the elegant wool-wrapped Italian woman walking home beneath the old city walls. Oh, I don’t know. I still have a hard time figuring it out. But I keep wanting to smell it again, so clearly Olivia Giacobetti–the perfumer, who also designed Tea for Two and Philosykos, two other favorites of mine–did something right. Again. I love her.

After using up a small sample of this, I had to get a full bottle. I was undecided at first-it was not love at first sniff, but it grew on me. There’s something about Elixir-it smells very much like a natural perfume but I’m sure there’s some synthetic in here too or it would not have the staying power it has. A little goes a long way. The scent is categorized as a men’s fragrance, or unisex but to me it is very feminine, if a spicy scent can be considered feminine in the traditional sense. I smell rose, something minty/astringent (that’s the eucalyptus), incense and woods. Warm and cool at the same time. Floral and woody. This is a keeper! One of my top 10 fragrances. 🙂

Oh no! Although i love spicy scents, this one is soft spicy on me and smells like the inside of a pharmacy! No!!

This scent reminds me of a mysterious, eccentric, world traveled artist!
I first bought Elixir on LuckyScent, just to try it first. I really liked it, but was unsure at first so I swapped with a fellow MUAer for a 5ml decant. After wearing it a few times, I am now convinced: it’s love!
I’m not the type of person who will wear scents b/c I am very picky about scent. I find this scent to be gorgeously mysterious, ethereal, spicy, comforting, and daring at the same time. Simply marvelous all through the dry down.
If you like rich scents, insence, spices…then you will love this scent!
Also, I’d consider this scent unisex, but without the stigma of “general boringness” that many unisex scents seem to have.

I love this gorgeous color; it isn’t red, but it’s not far off. It looks beautiful with my warm toned but very pale skin. I love the finish I get with Chanel polishes; I prefer it in almost every way to Essie. I haven’t had the chipping issues a lot of people have mentioned, but I prefer my nails on the short side. I will buy this again when I run out. $27 a bottle is a ridiculous price for nail polish, but for a color this beautiful, I’m willing to make the sacrifice.

Love!

I got this polish as a gift and it’s such a beautiful colour which looks quite rare. With one coat this nail varnish does tend to chip at the ends, it was chipped after 3 days. Today I’m applying two coats to see how this fares. For the price of this nail varnish It shouldn’t chip but it is such a lovely colour!

Now and then a color comes along that at first glance in the bottle looks pretty ordinary and then, when on the nail, turns out to be a rather rare creature, makes you wondering how you’ve ever been able to live without it. More often than not such a color comes from Chanel. Elixir is one of those colors. I have more than hundred reds in my collection, and I have nothing even close to it. You could argue that this color isn’t red, and I should look for familiar colors in a collection of pinks instead, and who ever said that would have a point. Still, I doubt there would be that many dupes in a pink collection either. Elixir is sipmly in it’s own quiet way a new color – or at least a color we haven’t seen much of since the 60’s – a decade that did anything to avoid the then rather dated looking scarlet that had been so big in the 50’s. The color is a subdued, dusty, even greyish, “unred” reddish pink – or pinkish red, depending on the number of coats and the eyes that look at it. It’s blue based and has no brown or yellow tone, but it’s not so cool that it cannot be worn by warmer complexions. At the moment I have an ugly, fading tan, and most cooler colors I try make my skin look very yellow. This one doesn’t. Maybe it’s because of the grey tinge, but the color really looks rather “neutral” against my hands. Hardly pressed, I’d say this is a paler version of April. If you poured enough white pigment into April, at one point you’d probably end up with something close to Elixir. But then again, Elixir has a bit more warmth to it than April, and it has a clarity of color April lacks.
Application was easy. It’s one of the newer slightly thicker creme polishes from Chanel, but it’s very, very smooth and self levelling. I prefer to wear three VERY thin coats for longevity so I thinned it a bit, but most people probably won’t feel the need. For me this one is a winner, and I’m sure it’ll be on my nails a great part of the winter to come.

This is a rather interesting fragrance. The initial smell is pleasantly strong and warming. The eucaluptus is really prominent there but it manages to stay non-medicinal as it is rounded and sweetened by the spices and a little bit of rose in the background. This would be a great smell for a candle during the holiday season! What was really dissapointing for me was the staying power: although I tested it from a vial I dabbed several times only to find the smell non-existant in 2 hours. I would not purchase a full bottle of the fragrance but would consider the candle.

A spicy scent that’s not heavy or cloying. This one was pure spice on my skin, warm and comforting. Would consider a FB, if the price was lower.

Gorgeous , Basia has said everything already but I highly recommend this to rose and incense lovers.
