Warm and cozy with its (non-candy, non-cloying) vanilla, musk and light frankincense base, complemented by a beautiful, fresher twist ( juniper, ginger, cypress?) that makes for its duality (“Duelle”)… so unique and so very “organic”, for the lack of better words: somehow it doesn’t smell like a bottled perfume, but like a confluence of natural scents! It lasts for the most part of the day (sometimes I can still detect it in my clothes the following day), but it stays close to your body, melting with your own skin scent – this is the perfect scent for those who, like me, wear a fragrance for their own pleasure and are not so concerned with leaving a fragrance trail behind or around them.
I also have the EdT and like it very much: the balance between sweet and bitter is different, there is more of those green opening notes, less smoky vanilla, which makes for a lighter, more airy scent – which at times feels even better than the EdP . But the EdT lasting power is a bit poorer.

A perennial fall favorite of mine. Starts out spicy and woody – definitely a ‘not-too gourmand’ vanilla base mixed with subtle notes of Juniper, Cardamom, amber and a touch of ginger. I’m not the biggest amber fan and luckily the amber note barely projects and stays very close to the skin at all times. As it dries down I start to get saffron coming through and a moderately strong tea note too, even a little bergamot. Overall this is a nice, warm and comforting scent that works great during fall and winter but not so well during summer as it becomes a bit cloying upon reacting to warm air. I find 1-2 spritzes is sufficient to last me the whole day as it has great lasting power (can detect it the next day) and fairly moderate sillage. On my skin this is very similar to ‘L’Instant de Guerlain’ but I prefer Diptyque, especially for the longevity factor.

This is my favourite vanilla scent overall. It isn’t your typical gourmand sweet vanilla, it has some more depth with some spices and tea. It’s cozy and reminds me of sitting by a fire with a nice wool sweater on. The EDP has great longevity. This is very elegant and tasteful, and very unisex.

This rather is a unique take on vanilla, this isnt a sweet candy vanilla, this is a dry elixir type vanilla..I am not crazy about vanilla perfumes but this one is very unique, well done, warm and interesting…it goes through a bit of a masculine phase but it doesn’t last…it isn’t one I particularly like, but once in a while, I go for it, I get complimented too..

A cozy and enveloping fragrance for autumn and winter if you like cardamom on a soft, spicy and mildly resinous base. I like the idea and the EDT – though I’m not in love with it- but I think the EDP does not work for me.
Eau Duelle EDP opens with a boozy bourbon and woods, a bit spiced and a bit honeyed to my nose. I find this opening very inviting because it is rich with possibilities without being cloying. On some days though, a sweet vanilla and a tired amber become too prominent on my skin, unfortunately. There is a lovely, fresh but full-bodied rose somewhere in the heart. And it adds a lovely direction and character. But unfortunately – again- I have to glue my nose to my wrist to be able to smell it. It plays second fiddle to the strong cardamom, amber and sweet resin that I project. I know people around me don’t smell the floral touch at all. The drydown is a balmier version of these three.
Eau Duelle EDP is not unpleasant, and it can even become addictive if it works better with one’s chemistry I guess. Yet, I cannot stop thinking that it smells like a rarely washed scarf that has accumulated a thousand oriental drydowns and smells like a potpourri of those. I would prefer the EDT to this, as I believe it is more unique.
Very good sillage and lasting power.

Nice but not Especially Memorable
Notes: Cardamum, Elemi Resin, Olibanum, Bergamot, Pink Pepper, Juniper, Saffron, Black Tea, Musk, Ambergris, Vanilla.
Eau Duelle is the first fragrance I have smelt from this house. On my skin it opens with a very fresh and aromatic juniper, accompanied by spicy pink pepper. This is followed by the tea note and what must be saffron. Then, strong notes of vanilla and elemi follow and persist until the end. Ambergris is one of my favourite notes, but unfortunately I do not detect it in ED.
ED is nice. It is pleasant enough. I do not dislike it, but it is not a stunning fragrance. It reminds me a little bit of Habanita EdP, although I find Habanita more appealing than ED. At moments it seems to approach gourmand status but not quite. It has a certain degree of sweetness, but the sweetness is tempered by the spiciness and the tea note.
Eau Duelle is unisex, office friendly, welcome in almost any venue. I do not see it as a date night fragrance, though. I can imagine anyone from 20 somethings to 60 somethings wearing it. I think it would wear well year round, but it may be more comforting on crisp Autumn days and nights as the tea, vanilla, and elemi notes lend a snuggly dimension to it. If you test ED and find you love it, the good news is that it has stellar longevity which is rather uncommon these days.
Overall, ED is pleasant but not especially memorable in my opinion. Of all the listed notes, I like the juniper note most for its realism.
Fragrance: 5/10
Projection: 5/10
Sillage: 5/10
Longevity: 9/10

This is my second favorite Diptique fragrance (Do Son is #1 for me) and a well priced scent (aprx. $150.00) that I have never been without since I discovered it eons ago.
I find it somewhat unique in that it does something different with frankincense which I cannot pinpoint, something that appeals to me, the type of gal who typically runs away from any inclusion of frankincense. But this stuff, ah, delicious to my nose! This is a Madagascar Vanilla bourbon lover’s dream! This to me, is a bit more complex as it goes through phases; tobacco pipe to vanilla, with wafts of pink peppercorn, and cypress with frankincense and other incense resins. Then somehow mysteriously, that Madagascar Vanilla bourbon comes back with a vengeance in the dry down. This is exotically sensual, and gives me queen of the harem seduction “he can’t resist her” vibes. Major love for this one!

Eau Duelle EDP is a cool spicy vanilla with resinous accents. I enjoy my decant a lot, it’s beautifully aromatic with the unusual twist of juniper but essentially I prefer my vanilla scents on the warmer side. Still, it’s great quility fragrance and if unisex cool unsweetened vanilla is your jam (ie Jo Malone Vanilla & Anise, Atelier Cologne Vanille Insensee) be sure to give Eau Duelle EDP a try.

My experience with Diptyque is that you need to try the edp versus the edt. These are expensive no matter what you buy, but the edp’s have a complexity and lasting power that makes them worth the full price–while the edt’s can fall flat within hours. This brand’s fragrance line can be pretty confusing. Sometimes the notes vary based on the concentration, so you have two very different perfumes with the same name. Eau Duelle is one of the most popular scents for fall and winter, but if you love cozy/spicy/inviting vanilla year round then this could be your new HG.

To me, this is the best vanilla based scent. It’s a spicy vanilla, with frankencense and black tea, and bourbon vanilla. I have this in the EDT as well, but this is a more cosy and pronounced vanilla. I pick up on some amber too.
