This sits really nicely on my skin for about two hours, providing a beautiful, medium-full coverage and then it very quickly goes to crap. It separates, breaks up, finds pores I didn’t know I had and digs them out into craters. It does not play nicely with any of the many different kinds of primers that own, nor will it tolerate being set with any powders either. It rubs off in vast quantities on my clothes and my phone and is oddly difficult to remove from both. Such a pity because I really like the look and feel of this foundation initially. I HATE the packaging. Obviously the jar is pretty, but totally unhygienic. I believe that this has been reformulated as the new Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation, and is now in a bottle with a big doe-foot applicator, which is probably just as unhygienic as sticking your fingers into a jar. I won’t be buying this again as I feel like Tarte has been less than forthcoming in admitting to this change in formulation, (as well as producing a ridiculously limited range) and if I am honest, I feel like they have totally lost their way. They haven’t really produced anything new or ground-breaking in a very long time.

The Tarte Empowered Hybrid Foundation costs $39 and it comes in 16 different shades. Not my favorite one but I still like it! I’m still not sure if I would repurchase it or not… It gives you such a dewy finish which is beautiful but keep in mind that I wouldn’t recommend it for people who are having an oily skin.

This is more like a tinted moisturizer than a foundation. I live in PA and my skin gets so dry in the winter. Most foundations dry it out even more but this DOES moisturize, it just doesn’t cover and camouflage my redness the way I like. And it feels really nice on the skin. I found it to last most of the day but I have rosacea and I just don’t like the coverage.

My mature skin is a bit on the dry side, so I was intrigued by this gel based foundation. After experimentation, I found I got the best application with a sponge. The foundation doesn’t seem to last quite all day, and isn’t as moisturizing as I had hoped, but it does give a nice dewy natural look. The coverage is medium to full, depending on your application. I’m not a fan of the jar, but I get why they packaged it this way. This is a decent foundation, but I still like my Josie Maran Vibrancy Foundation better.

Ulta was having a sale one day only $12bucks I wore it and it doesn’t last I set with a powder and a finishing spray if your oily I don’t recommend if you. Want long wear I don’t recommend I guess that’s why it was on sale to be honest it was lousy……..very disappointed

I really wish I could love this product because I have dry skin. It has a nice consistency and applied to my skin very well leaving a very natural finish. The con of this foundation is that it transfers everywhere, no matter how much powder I set with it, and setting spray. This foundation moves all over.

I have dry mature skin so this foundation is perfect. It hydrates beautifully and plumps up my lines. It’s very pigmented so go easy – pay attention to how much you use (less is more) and build gradually. If you take care, you will find your skin looks flawless and feels soft and plump. My new go-to medium to full coverage glamour foundation.

I honestly think this foundation is ideal for anyone with normal to dry skin, my skin is super dry but this actually feels a little “moist” on my skin in that I’m not experiencing any of the dryness I usually do with 99% of foundations. I have not worn this alone, I’ve been using it over the Tarte BB 12 hour primer because my skin is showing that I haven’t been diligent about the daily use of sunscreen and this foundation has no sunscreen. Since this primer is heavy on the ‘cones, the foundation glides on with ease using either my fingers or a brush and doesn’t accumulate in my fine lines. A little goes a very long way, I re potted about a teaspoon-full amount in a tiny pill container and have been dipping into it all week and there’s still plenty left. I decided I’m going to continue to transfer a small amount into another container so I’m not introducing any unnecessary bacteria into the jar because I have a feeling I’ll still be trying to use up the jar a year from now.
Overall I think the gel formula is super easy to spread and blend and it gives a definite medium coverage that looks radiant without looking oily and doesn’t settle into fine lines. I can see why several “mature” bloggers approve it. It isn’t weightless though, probably because it doesn’t set on its own and could use a light dusting of something if you want to make sure it doesn’t transfer off onto clothes, or if you have problems with foundations shifting and/or disappearing on you.
I give this a no on a rebuy because of the lack of sunscreen and the product would be just fine packaged in a tube instead of a jar.

so I’m addicted to this foundation I have three jars of it 2 same shade and one for winter months .it dry fast on cheek so I hurry to blend it with the brushes.it covers well but it doesn’t look cake face.it doesn’t settle into any limes for me and it isn’t a pure matte look.i love this one and will keep using.

This is great stuff! The color I got was light neutral even though I’m as white as paper. It looks a bit yellow in the jar but it blends nicely and neutralizes funky skin tones so you look flawless. Plus, it is super pigmented so you don’t need much to do your whole face. I warm some on my hand, dot it on, and blend with a damp beauty blender. I do two layers just so I get even coverage because I use so little. It sets up without powder and feels like skin. I can apply cream or powder products over it and they blend well. I set with a tiny bit of powder and a setting spray. I love this foundation! I think the only bad things are the messy jar…you have to scoop out some, and it tends to get all over the place. Plus it seems kinda gross to have the entire jar exposed to air every time you need to get some out. It should be in a pump or something. Again, the jar is heavy and glass so traveling is gonna be difficult, plus if it drops you’re done. Overall, it reminds me a lot of the jar foundations L’Oréal had in the 90’s that came in a zillion different shades….this stuff is better though because it’s super long wearing and gives flawless coverage. So far, my very fave Tarte foundation and now my everyday go-to.
