I can’t remember when I started using Bio-Fond, probably 20 years? Anyway, I cheat on it. I like Armani, Chanel, but I always have a stash of GS Bio-Fond. 80% of the time due to ease of use. First of all the finish is AMAZING. Your skin But Better. I apply with either a foundation brush or if in a hurry a good dense sponge. Smooth with a sponge. Powder if its humid, otherwise just go. This has some sort of sunblock in it. I have dry, dry skin, but I look great with this, plus it’s all the face products you need in one package. Travels well, well designed compact. Last a long time. I USE this and still get a good 6-8 months’ use per compact.
I wait till there is a sale and stock up and stash in my Fridge. Recently bought the primer. Its a keeper too.

This is my first day of wearing the GS bio fond foundation, and so far, I really like it! I wore it on a bike ride this morning in 90 degree weather, and my makeup still looks good! It also barely feels like I’m wearing anything. It seems like a little goes a really long way. I used out of the tester sample they send you for color matching, and there’s still a ton of it left. I will post an update as I figure out the longevity of wear and how it affects my skin.

This foundation is legendary, of course, but I never tried it because I had the idea that it is greasy/oily and/or for dry skin. Part of the reason I’ve never tried it has to do with my lifelong experience with theatre makeup. Makeup, (especially “older formulas”) that comes in compacts connotes “greasepaint” to me. It’s a shame there isn’t more information available about Bio-Fond. I think there are so many people who would love this foundation. If you’ve ever read any of my reviews, you know that I’ve been whining about not being able to find an acceptable replacement for the now discontinued Make Up For Ever Face and Body Liquid Makeup. I loved it for its cream-to-powder finish, its incredible durability, and its beautiful look on skin. It always gave me a look of perfect, supple, smooth skin, but it didn’t look like makeup. I’ve purchased way too many foundations over the last few years, trying to find something similar, but I never found anything that I loved in quite the same way. During this time of foundation testing, I realized that Dimethicone is not my friend, and I don’t understand why it’s so damn popular. It must be dirt cheap. It clogs my pores, causes me to break out in cysts, balls up on my skin, and it looks FAKE. Makeup with lots of Dimethicone sits on top of my skin like thick, cakey powder. So, I began a search for “Dimethicone-free, cream-to-powder foundations”. I wasn’t expecting Gerda Spillmann to top every search I initiated, but it did. I went to the Gerda Spillmann website and ordered a small compacts of Bio-Fond Foundations in Bijou, and Alpen Glow. When the foundations arrived, they came with little sample compacts for me to try the foundations to see if they worked, before I opened up and wasted the large packaged compacts. (Brilliant!) Bottom line, I loved the samples and I LOVE this foundation. Bijou is as perfect a skin match as I’ve ever found in my life. Bijou literally melts into my face. You can’t tell when the foundation ends and skin begins. (I’m medium warm olive). The color depictions on the Gerda Spillmann website are extremely accurate on my monitor. Alpin Glow is slightly lighter than Bijou, and it has a peachy undertone that is brightening. It acts like a peach neutralizer, and it helps counteract sallow, indoor skin. Even if I use Bijou all over my face, Alpen Glow is wonderful under my eyes to counteract darkness. Bijou is recommended for warm medium skin. and Alpen Glow is recommended for warm, tan skin. I assume that the viewpoint on skin shading at Gerda Spillmann is that peach/orange undertones are considered to be “tan”, whereas in the USA, “tan” is perceived as a deeper skintone than “Medium”. If you are looking for a “tan” shade in USA terminology (like a suntan at the beach), start at Sahara as the lightest Tan, and go up from there. Bio-Fond isn’t oily or greasy in the least, and it truly has a cream-to-powder finish. It lasts through hot yoga and anything else I put it through. Yes, I occasionally touch up with a little powder (mostly on my nose), but the foundation itself stays put, and stays looking fresh. I plop it on over sunscreen, or apply it and use sunscreen powder, and I’m good for the whole day. Best of all, this foundation is truly lovely. It looks like soft, smooth, healthy, clear skin. It makes me think of vintage glamorous photos, before Hi Def exposed us to every pore and freckle. Bio-Fond has a very slight, clean fragrance, which, to me, smells elegant…like fancy expensive makeup. For me, the fragrance is not noticeable during wear at all, and I have not experienced any irritation or breakouts. Maybe the scent is more noticeable the more you layer the makeup, but I have not found this to be the case, yet. However, I live in an extremely dry climate, so fragrances don’t hang in the air like they do in humidity. (Either that, or I’m asnosmic to one of the scent chemicals.) I cannot feel this foundation on my skin, and it does not smudge or transfer after it’s set. Unless you are sensitive to any fragrance, I highly recommend trying this foundation if you want a cream-to-powder formula and a skinlike appearance, and/or if you are looking for a dimethicone-free foundation.

I’m so disappointed and am going to return this horrible foundation!!!
I did purchased the samples first. 3 for 3$ and I was amazed and so happy with the beautiful glow, and consistency it has.
Unfortunately the foundation you buy for a full price has different consistency SUPER OILY!!! Even with a primer and loose powder on its oily and cacky.

I have tried and tested every single foundation from New York to Paris to Milan to Seoul and I have to admit, I am shocked. The formula is amazing, and my skin has never looked better. I have severe scarring from an accident plus acne scars, I also still suffer from cystic / adult acne which I’m being treated for professionally but the topical treatments cause severe redness, dryness and patchiness with flaking. That said, I have severe oiliness, dry patches, redness, enlarged pores, and of course…scars and random horrific oily-dry patches. Yes, I have a LOT to cover…
I heard about this amazing cream-to-powder foundation and said to myself, “I’ve tried the $3 to the $235 foundations and this is only $20 on sale. It can’t hurt to try.” I heard if you call they’ll send you 3 free samples and professionally match you, but I didn’t want to wait…I ordered the Caramel (light-medium neutral beige) since I am R230 in Makeup Forever. I have both yellow AND red undertones, so I definitely wanted something neutral. Golden tones can assist in cancelling out red and I did not want anything too pink. I also ordered the highlighter/concealer which is basically the exact same thing as the foundation, only in the most light possible neutral shade of porcelain – which can be used as a concealer to reduce redness or mixed with any foundation to lighten it to whatever shade I desire which is awesome. It can also be used to highlight, so I definitely recommend the highlighter as it is non-glittery yet gives a lit-from-within look and it conceals everything as a combination product.
The Bio-Fond and concealer/highlighter combo product arrived and I immediately went for it. It was so easy to apply, I could have come out flawless in the dark. SERIOUSLY, THIS STUFF SIMPLY SWIPES ON AND FILLS IN AND CONCEALS EVERY POSSIBLE IMPERFECTION IN IT’S PATH – YET, IT DOESN’T LOOK LIKE MAKEUP AND THE AMOUNT NEEDED IS REALLY SMALL. It retexturized and transformed my skin in seconds.
Okay, so 14 hours after wearing it I still looked amazing. (I used no primer and only a light moisturizer with it, set it with a light dusting of transluscent setting powder.) I did NOT blot my face during the day which I normally should have needed to do as I am constantly touching my face. When I looked in the mirror 12 hours later plus a 2 hour nap, my skin looked flawless. Not perfect, the makeup had been absorbed into my skin a bit but overall I looked so good I could have gone out!
14 hours of wear is pretty good. It also had no signs of cake-y or patchy areas during the day nor into the night. I worked out doing a 2 hour power walk and sweated, and it doesn’t claim to be sweat-proof but it seems to be waterproof and sweat-proof. Unless I didn’t see, I’m pretty certain they did not claim 14 hour perfection or being virtually bulletproof. This really evens out my skin and hides even my severe raised scarring and all my pits and dents. I will DEFINITELY recommend trying it. At least request the samples, apply with a slightly damp sponge and watch the magic. One sample seems to be 3-4 face wears, and with my order they included 2. The foundation shades do tend to blend out seamlessly together and I’ve already ordered a deeper shade for contouring.
Basically, this foundation is a literal God send to me. PLEASE never stop making it, Gerda Spillmann company! I am just in love!! Even my husband commented on the dramatic improvement. I’m personally shocked this makeup isn’t more well known.

I found out about this foundation through you tube and then began researching it due to the fact that it is recommended for dry aging skin. I use Retin A and battle flaking skin, some larger pores, and really have been struggling to find a foundation that would work for my current skin. I love the new Chanel Sublimage Le Teint but it is EXPENSIVE and doesn’t last more than about 6 hours.
First of all I would like to say that at least for me, this foundation had a steep learning curve. I have never used a cream mineral foundation before. I called the Gerda Spillmann customer service and spoke with a wonderfully helpful woman in Utah. They offer samples and after talking about my skin tone and best matching foundation I was sent three different colors. Weekend, Truffle and Birch. If you are fair skinned and cool toned like me the only option was weekend. The other two were extremely peachy to orange on my skin and looked horrible.
I have to say the sample wasn’t enough product in order for me to figure out how to correctly use this foundation. With the first application I actually thought it was horrible, seemed to settle in my pores, magnify dry patches and overall, I thought it was terrible. I gave up and decided it wasn’t for me.
A couple weeks later I picked up the remaining little bit in the container and decided to try it again this time over a moisturizer and primer. I still didn’t like how it looked, but I left it on and began my weekend housekeeping duties.
Several hours later, I looked in the mirror and was surprised to find that the foundation looked wonderful on my skin and had actually warmed up and sort of melded with my skin.
I then decided to buy the small compact which was on sale for 19.99. I also ordered the Hydro Pearls Primer from her website as well. After playing with this product for several weeks, using different primers and moisturizers I have to say I have figured it out and really love this foundation! I need a heavier primer than Hydro Pearls in my drier areas, and use the Hydro Pearls on the rest of my face. I buff in using a real techniques foundation buffing brush and then allow my skin to warm the product. I then use my fingers to tap gently over my larger pores and this warms and settles the product into a second skin look.
This never feels heavy or Cakey and makes my skin look flawless. Worth a try if you’re willing to experiment and learn how this foundation best works with your particular skin.

I have normal to dry skin in the winter and in the summer, some combination. I am prone to breakouts and blackheads and I use prescribed retin-a every night. This thick cream foundation can go on full coverage with a foundation brush and is perfect for those bad skin days I get every month. For a more natural look, I prefer using beauty blender and dabbing it onto my skin. It looks so natural but better with having even out my skin tone. This leave a lovely healthy natural glow that look like it isn’t from wearing fount and photographs extremely well. It looks like real skin but better. On very cold -35 winter, this has never settled down into my pores, any fine lines or over emphasized my dried out pimples. I like to use two shades. One is Weekend and the other is Highlighter because I am super pale. This is my HG. It is just as good as La Prairie, I had the same wow shock on how nice it goes on but the color selection with bio-find is a lot better for my skin color. I love this foundation! In the summer, when get a lot warmer, it feels a lot softer and I usually apply lighter application and then my colorscience SPF 50 powder on top. It does last all day and if you need to touch up from the humidity, the packaging is perfect to carry on your purse. I find the closure can open up so you should carry it with the provided sleeve. I will always repurchase this brand. They also have eyeliners & liquid liners and I want to give those a try since the price is very reasonable.

I was so excited to get this foundation as the reviews were very promising. I am over 60. I have pretty good normal skintype. I visit a dermatologist regularly to buy oblagi skin care and retin A. So ya my skin is aging but not crazy wrinkled, or so I thought. I used this foundation and when I looked in the mirror (not magnified) after 30 mins I freakin scared myself. I looked like the mummy returns! It appeared I had lines and wrinkles and oh yes pores that I never knew I had. After a shril scream I reached for the bioderma and off it came. This is by far the worse foundation I have ever used, and I have used some bad ones over the years. I tried with a beauty blender, with a brush, with my fingers. I tried with 2 differnt primers (armani prima guerlain L’Or) of course without primer and I even tried over a silicone skin conditioner. The results were always the same, horrible wrinkled dried up old looking skin. The 3D road atlas look. thank goodness for bioderma! So after all that it is in the trash where it belongs. I dont understand the wonderful reviews here and all the raves on youtube? I say, “beware use this foundation at your own risk!”

Having seen rave reviews on this product on YT I decided to give it a go. Their customer service was fantastic and really helped me choose the correct colour samples. I’m so pleased I got samples first as this was such a disappointing product. A strange product to apply but applied beautifully with a beauty blender. My skin looked amazing and I was so pleased – for about 1 hour. My face was a greasy mess with no visible product left on my skin. I tried it with a variety of primers and powders all with the same results. So disappointing, but on the bright side this is such an expensive foundation I suppose it’s a lucky escape lol. I definitely recommend getting samples first.

I tried this foundation after a Youtuber I follow repeatedly raved about it. They sent me several samples so I was able to find a decent color match. It gives good almost full coverage and doesn’t feel heavy like other cream foundations (MAC Full Coverage I’m looking at you)
I let it set for several minutes expecting it to dry down to a powder finish like I’ve heard it’s supposed to but it did not do so. I noticed it showed all my lines and pores and texture- not a good sign but I continued my routine. I powdered it with my usual it cosmetics bye bye pores loose setting powder and it seemed fine, then I used my regular bronzer and blush and set with Mario Badescu Rosewater spray and UD Allnighter. It looked ok- not the best or worst I’ve looked. But a few hours later after doing nothing strenuous and being indoors I noticed it had worn off in areas and my face looked greasy. My skin is normal with occasional dryness so I wasn’t expecting it to look so oily. It was fine after I repowdered but I don’t normally have to repowder my face mid day so I’m not pleased with this at all.
