If you have sensitive eyes I would steer far from this. I bought this in Three Shakes (it doesn’t matter which shade I am sure the reaction would be the same) and it’s a pretty shimmery brown but it made my eyes water and burn horribly from the start. I applied this to my eyelids and then started blending it in, I put a tiny bit on my lower lash line too and my eyes started watering and burning instantly.
I am not particularly sensitive and use eyeshadow sticks on a regular basis, I’ve used bobbi brown, laura mercier, by terry, burberry, rimmel, maybelline etc and have never had any reactions. Of course you’re putting it close and sometimes in your eye applying it like I do and it can be irritating at most, but nothing like the horrible reaction that I got from this MJ shadow. I read something about this product having glacier water, which is what offers that “cooling” effect and probably what I reacted to.
I returned this of course and will stick to the brands that I know and love, won’t buy anything from this line again.

This is an incredibly expensive eye shadow ($28) and a regrettable purchase. I bought it in Volver, which is a nice peachy color on me (not champagne, as the description states). It feels cooling going on, but my eyes have started to itch and burn by mid-afternoon now and I wonder if I’m developing allergies or if I’m just allergic to this product. I also can’t retract it and it came with the product twisted up so that I’m afraid it will break off soon. Disappointing.
EDIT: Now that my eyes are used to this product, I really like it. No more itching. I pretty much wear this every day since it’s easy to apply, doesn’t crease, and lasts all day.

Got this in “three shakes”, a chocolate brown warm shimmer. Really like the product.
Pros:
-goes on very smooth, cooling sensation that fades immediately but still nice
-does not budge. I work 18 hour days and it does fade (I am traveling so currently not using it with primer) but still impressive staying power
-beautiful colour. I have dark brown eyes and this really does make them pop
-shimmer isn’t very “mobile” – I don’t end up with bits of it in my eyes/contacts
-buildable. A single swipe for the lid and a double swipe in the crease creates a nice gradient look!
Cons:
-if you don’t blend it immediately it won’t budge. Dries quickly on the lids.
-(not really a con, but more of a fact) this is not an eyeliner. I’ve seen reviews below about how it was terrible on the waterline.. I think this product is definitely a cream shadow and I wouldn’t use it to line necessarily. Maybe a smudgey eye look?
-$$$ – there were cheaper colour dupes in Sephora but I’m not sure if their quality would be the same? If yes, would get something else
Overall, I would recommend this colour and I would repurchase.

Not all shades perform the same
Quick Take: blends easily, expensive, not all shades last
I have 4 of these, and Volver and Stardust are the best performing of the ones I have. Leila is complete garbage! With or without primer, it creases within minutes and fades to nothing by the end of the day. This is a giant shame as it’s a beautiful shade (although it pulls more and more orange before it fades into nothingness). I won’t return it, because I do love the color, but I need to find a way to make it work. Like I said, the other shades wear just fine. Will not repurchase, as this last one was so disappointing.

I bought this eyeshadow stick in volver and honey bunny, two beautiful shades – also very EXPENSIVE. I used this in my inner corner and it stung like crazy. I ended up removing all my makeup and starting over. Super disappointed as the shades were gorgeous but way too expensive just to burn my eyes out.

I purchased this in Au Revoir, and I really love it. I layer it over my WnW eye primer and it lasts me all day without creasing. It may be used as a base for shadows, but I prefer it on its own because it’s so sparkly and pretty. I usually apply this to my entire lid, wait for it to set, and then go into my crease with a matte shade to give my eyes a bit more definition. A thick coat of mascara and I’m all done. It’s super easy, and the creamy formula really makes application a dream.
There’s a cooling effect that lasts for a few seconds when you first apply it, but it’s not uncomfortable. I actually think it’s rather nice. However, I’ve heard that using this on the lower lash line may lead to some discomfort, so I’ve steered clear of applying it anywhere other than my upper lid.
Even though it lasts all day (so far, up to 12 hours) on me, I find it’s quite easy to remove with my usual eye makeup remover (by Jason). No scrubbing or tugging.
The packaging is lovely. Very pretty and functional, and I dig the angle of the tip. I find this gives me a lot of control.
The price is ridiculously high at $28USD, but it’s Marc Jacobs, so I count it as being a bit of a treat. I will still repurchase only because the color and formula are so amazing, but let’s face it – it’s a crazy high premium for what it is.
Over all, staggering price aside, I think these eye crayons are pretty darn wonderful. There are a couple other shades in the range that I’d like to try as well.

This was a disappointing product. I was hesitant to spend $28 on an eyeshadow stick but was enticed by the promised cooling effect. I love my Buxom lip products that are cool and tingly and thought a cooling eyeshadow stick would be nice and possible help wake up tired eyes. I purchased the sparkling pewter color, however debated between that and the champagne color. The cooling effect of the shadow is nice (fades a few seconds after application) and that along with the cute packaging are the best parts of this product. For the Marc Jacobs name and high price tag this product should be incredibly pigmented, long lasting, and crease proof- that is NOT the case. The color I chose is pewter gray that doesn’t show up very well, it skips a bit when applying so that smoothing over it with your finger is necessary, and it doesn’t work well as a base because it makes my powder eyeshadow layered over top of it crease within a few short hours.
Please save your money! Other cream shadow sticks I’ve tried are the NYX bases (tried Milk and it wasn’t good for me), Laura Mercier in the shimmery champagne beige shade, Rimmel light brown, and MUFE Aquamatic in metallic taupe. The Rimmel pencil you have to sharpen which is less convenient than a twist up but the pigmentation, quality of application, and staying power is WAY better than the Marc Jacobs. If you want a high end version please try the MUFE Aquamatic- its so vibrant, comfortable,VERY long lasting!!! I did a swatch test of all the above mentioned products and the Aquamatic lasted the longest and held up the best to washing my hands and rubbing over the swatch.

I got frustrated and threw this in the trash. I bought Stardust, a shimmery dark grey, expecting that it would have the same staying power as the gel eyeliners from Marc Jacobs and be a long-wearing smokey eye. However, I found that the Stardust Twinkle Pop Eye Stick smeared and looked like I had a black eye. I tried it a few times, different days, different weather. It always smeared. It also creased. I had better luck with Bobbi Brown’s cream shadow sticks, the ones from Laura Mercier, and the Aqua Matic from Makeup For Ever. I tested Marc Jacobs’ eye stick in Volver, the champagne color, in the store and it didn’t seem to travel, so I thought Stardust would be the same. Even though you’d expect the formula of the eye sticks to be the same, regardless of color, I don’t think Volver creased, or maybe I couldn’t tell because it’s such a light color. For my smokey eye, I ended up much happier with the Rich Caviar color in the Cream Shadow Stick from Bobbi Brown, which really does last. Marc’s eyeliners have great staying power, though.
