I absolutely love this stuff, its perfect for getting a smoky eye and has WAY more staying power than other natural brands I have tried. If you are trying to get a solid jet black line I am not sure this would work very well.

I’ve finally found an eyeliner to replace my formerly beloved Bobbi Brown Espresso e/s (which I now won’t buy thanks to EL’s new animal testing policy). I had used it for years and thought finding something I loved as much was hopeless, but gave this a shot due to Ginger’s review below. I wanted something pressed, dark, well pigmented, long-lasting, and “green”.
Since she said the brown was too dark for her taste, I had a feeling it would be perfect for mine – and it is. It’s not quite as blackened as BB’s Espresso e/s, but I actually think I like it better (quite a statement considering I probably went through 4 pans of BB’s). It’s dark and a bit smoky, perfect for using what’s left on my brush after applying as eyeliner to fill in my almost-black brows. To top off the perfect application, the staying power is phenominal and the little pan will last a very long time since you only need a touch.

A pressed baked powdery sort of cakey contraption. Small round container, opens and closes with a satisfying snap. Shiny black outside, nice lettering. Mirror on the inside of the lid.
Available in brown or black; I’m using brown for reasons of gingerness, and would rather use a lighter shade of brown but this is fine. Given the resemblance in formulae, their Eye Shadow Duo or Eye Shadow Palette might work well as liners too, and give you a great range of YBB colours.
Can be used dry or wet; wet, works very well for tightlining.
APPLICATION: Mix in water. Apply. Either brush out some liner dry onto back of hand (or some other surface), mix in water, and apply from there as a palette; or mix water straight into the cake–as with other cakes like the Laura Mercier one–and apply from there.
PROS:
—Like other cakes, produces a finer line through the lash-roots, doesn’t gunk up lashes as much as a gel one.
—Portable, lightweight, durable, doesn’t (in my experience) break. Highly recommended for travel; also as not using up your carry-on liquids allocation; I get geeky about traveling with hand-luggage only.
—Advantage over LM: easier to use–no issues of adding too much water–and applies like a dream.
—Will basically last forever, like many a cake; not real edible ones though, alas.
—Minimal ingredients, none of my frequent or occasional irritants; no bismuth oxychloride, for ex.
—Compared to a gel liner (Cinique, Bobbi Brown, Maybelline, Silk Naturals cream-gel one): as long lasting, but a finer line and easier application; better container than the glass jars with screw-top lids (all the above except SN). Better staying-power than them, no flaking during the day: ex. in allergy season when eyes are more easily irritated.

I love this eyeliner because it is very versatile and lasts all day. When you add a few drops of water to a liner brush, it works like a liquid eyeliner with a bold color that lasts all day. I personally like using this product dry because I like a softer definition around the eye. The color is more of a matte black brown but I am very glad I purchased it.

This stuff is ok. I tried it in brown and brown. The black is regular black, maybe a bit smokey. It’s not a jet black, even wet. The brown is a pretty dark brown, probably more on the cool tone. I love that this product is natural and high quality, but I keep switching back to my Alexis Vogel cake eyeliner – which ISN’T natural but is a great quality liner. I really want to prefer this because its organic (especially since its an eye product!), but it is frustrating sometimes putting it on in the morning because it does that thing I have noticed some powder eyeliners doing: you wet the brush, dip it in some powder, then slide it on and you are left with a wet line with eyeliner and the top and bottom. So where the center of the slant brush is, there isn’t eyeliner, but above it and below it there is…anyone know what I’m talking about? Then sometimes when I have the line on my eye and I want to add more to it and I trace back over it, the liner disappears – like a dry erase marker when you trace back over the line. Maybe the brush is too wet in the first of both the scenarios, but I don’t have this problem with my AVC!! I did also notice this with Earth’s Beauty powder eyeliner too. Want to want it, but …nay.

I was sent this as a gift and had gotten out of the habit of using eye-liner. This changed everything; maybe it’s because I use a decent RMK angled brush with it, or I’ve found more confidence with make-up, mostly though, I think it’s because the quality is just excellent.
I use it wet to achieve strong lines which I’m able to do confidently because it has excellent pigmentation and it stays put all day. Used dry it achieves softer, more muted lines so it’s also excellent to use with browns for a smoky look.
I like the packaging though a drop means the hinge has cracked a little. I’ve been using it for 6 months and barely made a dent in the amount. I’ll never bother with pencil liners again and I’d be hard pushed to move from Nvey’s cake liner. It’s not cheap (£14 in the UK) but worth it.

I was in the market for an all-natural eyeliner, and this brand happened to be on sale, so I decided to give it a try. Worse came to worst, I would just use it as an eyeshadow, but let me just say, this product is AWESOME to me!! I love it so much! I apply it with an angled eyeliner brush, dry, and it gives a subtle depth to my eyes, not too dramatic, but not unnoticeable. I want to try it wet as well and see what the results well be. I love that there is nothing “bad” in the ingredients list, and the packaging is good. It comes in a cute tiny compact with a mirror! I will definitely buy this again, but who knows if I will ever finish it??!

A great cake eyeliner from the Australian organic brand NVEY Eco! Talc free, this cake liner gives a lovely deep black shade, matte finish and doesn’t smudge. I use it wet with a simple synthetic brush, and it gets pitchblack in one stroke; no need to brush and brush again for a nice black line. This will last for ages. Perfect eco choice! At $24, it’s not the cheapest one, but I think it’s so worth it.
